Can I Own A Security Guard Company With A Felony In Nyc

Security guard TRAINING IN NYC ONLY ..question!!!!?

Okay .. So i have been looking to start training for security guard in nyc. I have found a largeeeeee number o companies that provide this.. But I am looking for one in specific. Since I am well aware that there is a fee that would need to be paid to obtain the license and fingerprints and everyhing.. i would like to know if there is a company that basically lets you go through with the training, but that fee that they ask of for the fingerprints and eveything that is included in the training.., they 'waive' it if the individual doesnt have the money to pay upfront...but the total amount of how much the training cost is taken out of the persons pay check little by little (until the amount that the company basically paid for the individual is paid ofd) please.. Anyonee... Let me know of a legit place that does THAT! not just a regular place where you have to pay up front.. PLEASE LET ME KNOW! please and thanks! Great points to the one wth REAL AND HELPFUL INFORMATION!! NYC ONLY PLEASSEEEEE

Can security guards in ny carry pepper spray and handcuffs?

As I said in your other question, it all depends on the security company's rules.

Can security guards walk around with guns off duty?

That depends on their state.
Here a security guard that is licensed to be armed can only have his weapon on the property he is guarding or while traveling to or from that property. So they can not walk around off duty with their guns.

NYS laws regarding tasers, mace, batons, etc for security guard use?

There is nothing special for executive protection security guards. They still need a guard license. A security guard can recieve the the training and certification to legaly carry mace, batons, firearms, and tasers. The taser training and certification is usally through taser itself, and not through the state. Taser also has a civilian taser version that is designed specificaly for security, which is slightly different then the police model.

Can a security guard stop you on public property?

Technically, he hasn’t really “stopped” you, he’s just asking a question. I suppose anybody could come up and ask if you’re okay. A security guard has all the legal authority of a regular citizen, which is to say, not much, so he can’t, for example, display an emergency light (red or blue) and force you to the curb on a public street. I’ve never seen a security vehicle with an emergency light other than yellow except at airports where they’ve been given special authority. What if you were on a private road? Sub-division patrolled by private armed security. They still don’t have police powers, but they can act on behalf of the property owners to secure the property. Tow parking violators, bust trespassers. Check suspicious vehicles. They’re basically walking burglar alarms, mostly, and a deterrent to crime. I got jacked by security guards all the time while I was on surveillance, sitting in a nice neighborhood. Sometimes the residents called on me, sometimes they were just out on patrol and saw us sitting there. Sometimes we’d badge them and sometimes just drive off, but they couldn’t usually make us leave, and definitely not if we were parked on a public street. They could call the cops and make a big fuss, which we didn’t want, so tried to avoid that as discretely as possible. The ones I hated were the gated community guards who’d say “where are you going” and “I have to notify the resident.” No, you don’t, and if you do, I’m coming back here and you’re going downtown with him. I’d usually peel somebody off there and have them wait and make sure the guy didn’t get on the phone.

Career advancement in private security industry?

You can move up to supervisor positions and then into management. Depending how large your security company is, you can become a director of ecurity at one facility, and then move up to become like a regional or district manager. Many companies say that have rigorous hiring and training standars but none can compare to the actual bootcamp of a police academy or military basic training. So chances are you training will never be as good as government positions.
