Can I Renew My Fiance

My fiance has suddenly decided to reconnect with his old girlfriend.?

He told me that they were best friends before and he wants to renew that friendship. I know that she still had feelings for him but she is seeing someone new now so I'm not sure. I feel uncomfortable about the entire thing. I told him how I feel and he said that I was the reason he missed out on being friends with her before because he broke it off for me. Now I am at a standstill because if I ask him to stop being friends with her he will blame me and yet I've felt so uncomfortable and just generally bad for the past two weeks! I hate feeling this way and I cannot understand his insitence to be friends with someone he knows I'm uncomfortable with. When they were friends before she had bad mouthed me and that is why I asked him to tell her not to. Any advice?

If your fiancé is in the Air Force, and you both can't go to court, how can we get a marriage license?

You don't go to court, you go to the licensing office. Depending on the county you are in, you should be able to pop over at lunch time and get it. Call and ask for their hours of operation and whether you both have to be present to get it.

My fiance is a Brazilian living in the US with an expired Green Card and a minor criminal record. I am pregnant and have dual citizenship. I want to give birth in Brazil. Will they allow him back in the US with an American wife and baby?

Get the green card renewed. It's like a credit card they just update the photo. It's just about the card and it's not a big deal. Call immigration. Apply for citizenship if he's had his green card for 5 years. Since you're married I can't see a problem. He may get questioned. He's father of an American citizen.Walk through an international airport foyer and catch one of the uniformed immigration guys and ask them. They'll know the questions you'll be asked. The only qualification for president is older than 35 and born in USA.There's a secondary processing centre who he may have to chat to. They're usually very friendly and just want to know you're intentions. I doubt they'll do that.Immigration may ask him questions like "Where is your home?, Have you been working in Brazil?, do you submit US tax return. Up to 6 months outside the US is Ok visiting family or assisting parents esp if he's an only child or doing missionary work or working on a US registered boat or working for a US company.Usually the younger immigration guys are easier to get along with. Women tend to be a bit harsher.

Do I need renter's insurance if I'm living with my fiance who has homeowners insurance?

You will need to do 1 of two things.

1. have your fiance add you as a named insured to his policy

or

2. keep your renters policy.

The reason is: a homeowners policy covers the personal property of named insured and spouse. Since you are just engaged....you are not a spouse.

So - if you are not named as an insured on his policy and the house burns to the ground....his property is covered. Yours is not.

The way to remedy this - is to either - add your name as an insured to his policy or you keep your separate renters policy.

Can I apply for H4 visa for my fiancee in advance with an interview appoinment date after marriage?

Yes. You can fill DS 160 with an appointment date after the marriage. Make sure your wife carries the marriage certificate for the interview.

Can I apply for our marriage license without my fiance?

Most places and situations, no.There are a few exceptions. If you’re in the US, the state has a website that will advise you or you can contact the clerk of court in your county or the county where you will be married—especially if it is in another state.Marriage licenses are state specific. The exceptions I know of are:The fiance is hospitalizedThe fiance is incarcerated (usually at court houses near prisons)The fiance is serving in the military and will not be in the area prior to the wedding

Why is it so hard for my fiance to get a visa from Iran to come visit the U.S. or Canada?

Two words in your question: Fiance and Iran.Fiance: This means a existing relationship where two people have decided to get married at some point in the future. For immigration purposes, it is treated as a serious enough relationship to confer immigrant (as opposed to non-immigrant) benefits in the case of the U.S.U.S.: A U.S. citizen can file an I-129F Petition for Alien Fiance(e), which if approved, will allow the fiance to apply for a K-1 visa to travel to the U.S. under the presumption that the petitioner and the beneficiary will get married within 90 days of the beneficiary’s arrival in the U.S. and subsequently file an I-485 for the now spouse of a U.S. citizen to become a permanent resident. While the K-1 is a non-immigrant visa, the process is similar to an immigrant visa as the end result, if successful, is the same.Canada: Doesn’t have a visa like the U.S. for fiances, however if the fiance’s future spouse is a Canadian citizen or permanent resident, then they can sponsor the fiance for permanent residence once they are married.Iran: Currently subject to a travel restriction by the U.S. Fiances should be exempt as they have a significant tie to the U.S., but I would expect that any person wishing to travel to Canada or the U.S. who is an Iranian citizen can expect a thorough vetting.I would expect that the relationship will be more problematic than the country of citizenship. Iranian citizenship would likely only mean extra processing time for vetting, however the relationship would increase the likelihood of a consular official determining that the fiance has immigrant intent. For the U.S. it is pretty straightforward - section 214(b) states that all applicants for non-immigrant visas are assumed to be immigrants unless they prove otherwise. Determination of immigrant intent is the sole discretion of the consular official. For Canada, while there is no similar section 214(b) in Canadian law, applicants for non-immigrant visas must satisfy a consular official that they will leave at the end of their stay.Officials from both countries strongly discourage and deter backdoor legal immigration, that is the fiancee entering using a non-immigrant visa other than the US K-1, getting married and then applying for permanent residence afterwards.NIVs are faster to get, but the longer immigrant visa process is strongly preferred if not required by law.

How appropriate is it to renew vows after an affair?

I think it is a very good idea. You need to start anew and put the past in the past. I would keep it very intimate and maybe go off together somewhere for a week or so, just to have that one on one time which u need very much right now. Writing your own vows I think would be a great touch to this event, so u can truly express your commitment to regaining her love and trust again. Be very grateful u have a woman who is willing to move on from this great betrayal, don't ever forget that. It is now your job to make the marriage right again.....not hers, so u have a big job ahead of you, but u seem to want to do this, so this is a good start. Good luck and remember this is your last chance to make it right, so always have that in the back of your mind. Good luck

Will I manage to renew C1/D visa (crewman visa) if I enter the country on a tourist visa to visit my fiancé and in the mean time we found out I was pregnant so I get free insurance from the state and gave birth to a baby?

Using a public health care program to fund your choice to give birth in the US will jeopardize the renewal of your C1/D visa. It is not expressedly against the conditions of either visa, but understanbly we Americans, who remain the only OECD country without universal health care, do not like it much when birth tourists game a humanitarian program intended to reimburse hospitals for providing emergency care to visitors and residents without valid legal status. US consular officers may ask you for proof that you paid the hospital delivery fees yourself, and if you fail to present receipts, they may not renew your visa.

What's your opinion on vow renewals?

My husband and I got married 5 years ago. He wanted to go to Guam (where he was stationed) to get married, our family wanted us to get married back here in the States. We married here and it was horrendous. Anyways, long story short, my husband and I have been through a lot - he wants to do a vow renewal in Guam within the next two years, (he wants to get stationed there again too), and I think it's wierd. I don't know - it seems like dressing up and pretend playing "wedding" after the fact to me. What's up with that? I don't know I mean we're married. Period. I don't know - maybe I'm being unreasonable - do you think that I am? Please, give me your honest answers and what you would do. Sorry to be a negative nelly...lol. God bless!
