Can I Return A Car Battery Even If It Works Fine

Can a bad car battery cause engine misfire?

So everyone on hear that says a weak battery cannot cause a misfire is wrong especially with a Subaru!!! I recently ran into this exact same problem with my 2013 Subaru Impreza 2.0L. My car began to have a rough idle anytime I was sitting at a stop light. Then the CEL came on for a misfire in the cylinder and the dealership wanted me to do $1000 worth of work replacing the coil packs and spark plugs. I specifically asked them if a weak battery would cause the problem and they said no as well. I knew my battery was weak because I couldn't leave my car radio on for 5 min with out the battery dying. All battery tests I did said the battery was fine. Today I finally got sick of having to worry about it not starting from leaving the door open or the radio on while it wasn't running. Sure enough my check engine light turned off and now my car has greatly improved performance! Also my car now idles like it is supposed to. I'm thinking my fuel pump was not getting enough power which caused the misfiring. Either way the problem is fixed and I suggest looking into the battery first!

Car battery reading at 27v?

Definitely get the meter checked. Essentially everything on the car that is electronic should have already been destroyed, I'm guessing something in the meter is not working right with higher voltages. If you've got them, put 8 AA batteries in series (12V) and see what they read. Even a 9V battery might be enough if the meter is flaky.

What could cause a car battery to drain? The battery is new, I started the car a few times and it ran fine. I went to start it again, and it didn't work. If the alternator is powering the car while it runs, why is the battery not charging?

First, look for some light, door, trunk or other thing that is on and draining the battery.  This may be an electronic accessory, like a GPS system, entertainment system, etc.   We had a battery being drained by an early model XM satellite radio.Modern cars have lots of lights and different modes and options, so if you don't find anything in the daytime, look again at night for lamps, lights, etc. like a trunk lamp or glovebox lamp that does not go off. Now, if you don't find anything obviously stuck in the ON position, you need to take to a place that does electrical service. You may have a bad voltage regulator, rectifier, or other issues besides the alternator.

Should i disconnect the car battery?

this depend,s on the state of your battery.....if it,s still in good shape a month storage shouldnt hurt it...but if it,s near it,s life expendency your on board computer system may deplete the surface charge & you will need to recharge, jump start, or replace your battery....a battery charge maintainer [ similar to a trickle charger] may be installed but you,ll need to plug it in ...it won,t overcharge or use much electric...will only maintain a specific charge...similar to someone starting it on a daily basis...available at most auto part,s retailer,s.

If I don't drive my car for two months, will the battery be dead when I try to start it?

Two months is probably the limit for a modern vehicle to stand without starting under normal temperature conditions. The parasitic drain rate in a typical vehicle is in the 25 milliamp range to keep background electrical components alive. In luxury vehicles with more electrical accessories this value can go up to 50 milliamps or more.Using the 25 milliamp range, the amount of capacity drain would be0.025A x 24hr x 30.5days x 2months = 36.6 AhThis is well within the working range of batteries (50-60 Ah) in normal vehicles and starting after 2 months should not be a problem under normal conditions. In vehicles with higher drain electrical load systems, the capacity loss could be double that value or 73.2 Ah. This would completely drain the batteries in typical vehicles, but batteries are usually sized to handle the electrical loads of the vehicle. The higher electrical load luxury vehicle often has a battery that is 80-100 Ah. This would still leave some margin for starting under normal temperature situations. If the battery in any type of vehicle is old and has suffered extensive capacity loss, the chance of starting after standing two months would not be good. Therefore, if the vehicle is to be stored for a long period of time, there are three options:Let the battery drain down and hope that it starts (this is the worst case for the health of a starting battery and would require a battery charger or another vehicle or battery and jumper cables if starting fails)Disconnect the battery by removing one of the cables (this will require resetting every electrical setting after reconnecting)Place a battery maintainer or trickle charger on the battery while in storage (this is best for the health of the battery, but requires an investment in an extra charging system and access to an electrical source)With the ever increasing electrical devices being added to all vehicles and the use of start-stop technology that operates with the battery partially discharged, the two month limit may soon no longer be applicable.

Engine won't start- low oil pressure + battery discharge?

replace the plug there cheep charge the battery and try to start it your oil and chargeing system only works after the car starts dont worry about them

i am going to add a gripe here
i sell interstate batterys i chose them because i got tired of jumpstarting cars that bought excide batteries
i latley have been replaceing lots of walmart batterys less than 2 years old
i have replaced in the last year 2 interstate baterys i sold
1 went 9 years 1 went 11 -1/2 years
on adverage i get 6 to 8 years out of them buy the green top ones there worth it dont buy a cheep battery it will leave you stranded somewhere buy the best you can its worth it
