Can I Return Something To A Store I Didn

Could you return something to a store that you didn't buy?

So I returned a few things to forever 21 today but I lost my receipt and they let me just get items with the same value. Couldn't I just pick up some clothes in the store and say I purchased them and need to return? There are two floors so I could pick some up downstairs and return upstairs. Or is there a way to tell if an item has been purchased if it only has paper tags.

If you but something at a store can you return it at the outlet store?

I bought some stuff at pacsun also Charlotte Russe and I want to return them can I go return my stuff at the outlet store even though I didn't buy it there ?

Hey if i bought something at one old navy store, can i return it at a different store?

Returns can be made at any store in the country of purchase. There are only O.N. stores in US and CAN, so if you bought in the US, you can return anywhere in the US. Clearance items have the same return policy as anything else they sell... full refund in the original form of payment within 90 days with your receipt.

Can you return something on the 30th day or does it have to be before the 30th day?

Most store policies have a 30 day return rule, and I was wondering would it be too late to return something on the 30th day?

Last month on the 13th, I bought pair of shoes, but I never wore them. On the receipt it says "Return by '11/12/15". So, does it mean i would have had to return it before the 12th, or is it okay to return it on the 12th?

I asking because I don't want to go to the store and get rejected xD. I know I should've went a long time ago, but anxiety caused me to procrastinate until the last minute.

thank you all!

Have you ever stolen something from a store but returned it cause you felt bad?

I was about 11 or 12, my local friends and I were a sort of ‘gang’ on bicycles! We lived in the country land where neighbors were up to 1/2 mile away and towns were few, yet small. There was a small town to the east of my house and another about 2–1/2 miles to the southwest. We were near that other town when it was decided that each of us would daringly go into this ‘general’ store, steal something and get away w/o paying for it. We knew what it entailed. It was a family-run store, attached to their house. When you entered the opened door would trigger a bell in their living room and each family member would take a turn to help out a customer. We didn’t know the family, but we knew how fast (or how slow) they responded to the bell. Two of our ‘gang’ had successfully stolen something as we waited down the road to see their loot. When it was my turn, I was so nervous, I had never done anything like this but I had an allegiance to the group that was stronger. I took a deep breath and quickly went in, the bell rang and I had to find something quickly. Not too far inside, I grabbed a red rubber ball about 3″ in diameter. As I was running out the door, a voice behind me yelled “Hey! What are you doing here? You need to pay for that!” I ran as fast as I could out the door, down the road where the gang waited for me. Well, at least no one came running after me! I showed the guys the ball I had taken and it was like “Gees, is that all?” from them, that I should have gotten something of more value, but it would have to do. We headed down the road away from the store, and after a few minutes, I slowed down, then stopped. As the rest continued on, I turned around and went back to the store. It was not that I was going to steal something more valuable, I was going to return what I had.I did just that. I went in slowly and put the ball back where I found it, then the guy who answered the bell came and gave me a very harsh look. “Yes?” he asked.“I’m just looking” I said.He watched me intently as I strolled about the little store. But his stares were too much and I left suddenly. But at least I left without any guilt. I didn’t meet up with the guys, I just went home. Later on, I didn’t care what the guys would say, I didn’t need them or to do what they did. But I did tell them I returned the ball. I was the winner that day!

Can I return an item at Wal-Mart if I didn't buy the item there? Read on...?

I ordered a CD off of the internet (not at walmart.com). It's the wrong CD. It's a gift and I don't have time to return it to the internet store. Wal-Mart carries this same CD. Is it possible for me to return the CD at Wal-Mat and get the correct one? Would the barcode flip out when they scanned it since I didn't buy the item there?

When a customer returns a product without opening the box, how do stores verify that the box really hasn't been opened and the product is inside?

A lot depends on the original packaging. If the original packaging had substantial tape that would need to be cut through in order to open the box and the box doesn’t show any signs that the tape was cut or otherwise removed replaced, it is somewhat easier to accept the return at face value. If that’s not the case (either no/minimal tape was involved or the package shows signs of being opened), then the next factor is going to be the price of the item. Is it a laptop computer? Then I not only want to make sure it is the correct model, but I’m probably also going to check that it is the same serial number as listed on the packaging. Is it a $15 phone charger? I’m probably not even going to check.’Sometimes, a customer could return something like a computer and have the item packed in the original carton looking exactly like it did when it left the factory. If the outside packaging looks tampered with, though, the act of unboxing the item to inspect it could make it damn near impossible to repackage it so it looks brand new. Lots of retailers will, at that point, treat it as “open box” — even if they know for a fact the item was never plugged in. For instance, I remember unboxing a new computer to put it on display, only to find out a co-worker had already setup the same model by accident (i.e.: he grabbed a -V90 instead of a -V70, so we were close to having two -V90s setup). The computer literally never left the store, never had the packing tape or other protective elements removed, was never plugged in, etc., but it went to the Open Box shelf at a steep discount, because customers wouldn’t accept it as “New” due to the obvious unboxing / repacking. Is there a better way?Not really. Customers rightfully demand “new” items when paying “new” prices and there are enough shady stores out there that it is wise to be skeptical of something that looks like it could be a returned item.In a perfect world, the general public would get better at buying the item they want, only the item they want, and stop returning so many things. The costs of returns is significant and those costs ultimately get passed on to everyone in the form of higher prices. We’ll probably see nearly $300 billion in retail returns this years. That’s a huge cost. See: Your holiday gift returns cost retailers billions
