You do not need to live in the same state as where your post office box is located.I worked in a resort town where a lot of vacationers (mostly snowbirds) rented post office boxes to receive mail. They would present a completed PO Box application, driver’s license, and proof of street address (mortgage, utility bill, etc.) to their local post office. Their local postal personnel would verify the information, postmark and endorse the application, and send it to our office along with payment. We would assign a PO Box and send the receipt to the customer. Upon arrival in town, they would collect the PO Box keys.
Can i use a PO Box address to switch my Drivers license?
Okay i moved from North Carolina to New York can i use a PO Box here in New York as a residency address showing that i have mail and i am living here in NYS? Reason i asked is because i rent a apartment basement apartment and my landlord would prefer to not have any of my mail going up stairs. I also have My NC License SSC proof of bank statement with PO Box address and birth certificate is this enough to use to switch my license? i also can use my debit card which has my name on it.

No. Both insurance and a DL is going to require that you have a home address. Insurance is going to require it because rates are partially based on where you live. But they will send the bill to a PO Box. Drivers License always require a physical address and it must be a residence.
Will Hawaii allow PO Box or hotel address on driver's license?

Driver License Renewal California?
Hi, this is a general question my mother driver license has been expired now over a year, we never received dmv notice via mail or anything, due to issues with the post office. We have all mail forward to our po box, but we never recieved any notices of renewal . I tried calling the dmv and renewing it online, but it not giving that option, can we still renew her dl due to mail issues with the united post office or does she have to re apply for a new driver license. Mind that her driver license has been expired over a year and some months now.
Can you get a California driver license if your only address is a PO box?
Ok. I'm assuming you are living in a hotel or something. If you do not have a physical address yet then you don't have anything to worry about. You cannot be considered a resident if you are not living at your physical address yet, just drive with your current license and you shouldn't have problems. No one has to know when exactly you moved or if you live in CA. You can act like you still live wherever else you are from and are just visiting. Then when you go and get your CA license you tell them you moved in a few days ago. The only exception they might make is if you are homeless and make you prove it. The thing is that people usually use PO Boxes for fraudulent purposes, so they make sure you have a good reason before any exceptions are made. Good luck!!
