Can I Simply Buy An Item And Rent It Out For Use

If you refuse to let Rent A Center in your house, can they call the police on you?

After watching a neighbor go through this situation I can tell you just what will happen. First you’ll receive a few phone calls saying you’re late or behind on payments. They’ll ask you to return the item(s) or say they can/will send someone to retrieve them. Depending on how handled that, or more likely ignored their phone calls, they’ll send a crew.Assuming you don’t allow them in to take the item(s), they’ll likely leave and report back to their superior who will then make a few last attempts to contact you before threatening to sue. Please understand, this isn’t a threat that will fall short, assuming you’ve agreed to rent more than $1,500, assume that they will follow through. And any lawyer you find to take the case will tell you that you’re best to settle out of court and return the item as well as now pay the additional fees you’ve accrued from dragging this out. In other words, because you signed a contract, it’s safe to assume it’s a legally binding contract and you’ve gone against the terms of the contract. In the situation with my neighbor, the cops were called because she and the retrieval crew caused a bit of ruckus and a neighbor called the cops. When the cops did come, they quickly understood the situation and quickly said that the situation was a civil matter and that they wouldn’t get involved. Though they did say if the situation continued to bother neighbors, they would arrest those involved for disturbing the peace. My neighbor refused to let the men into her home, the men didn’t want to cause any more trouble and left. A few weeks later the neighbor received a noticed that was she was being sued for breach of contract. According to her, she went to 4 different lawyers and all 4 told her to settle out of court and either return the item or pay the remaining amount of the item, as well as prepare to pay the legal fees and so on because the odds of winning the case were very very low.So can they call the police? Sure, but the police won’t do anything for a civil matter. But Rent-A-Center will sue for the remaining amount/item and additional fees you’ve now racked up.

Rent a center is it worth it?

Okay here's an example, you can buy a cheaply made Eway computer for 299.00 at any Bestbuy store.

With Rent a Center you pay 14.00/week for 110 weeks that comes to 56.00/month for a tad over two years or 1,428.00 for a POS computer that you could buy for 299.00

I love the response from rent a center when you talk to them on price comparison, they tell you that while the contract is in force that the computer is covered for any problems you may have and you can replace it for free if it fails.

Hmmm Best Buy offers the same warranty coverage for about 20.00 on a 300.00 item. So the total would be 320.00 plus tax (21.40) or 341.40 vs. 1428.00 for the same exact thing. Which sounds like the better deal to you?

Just save your money for a two months and you will have the money to buy it outright, rather than paying Rent a center extortion prices. Seriously the mob has better rates on loans than Rent a Center.

If you rent a book that usually comes with an access code from Amazon, will it include the access code?

If the item says "access code included" or something of the sort, the access code will be in there. Sometimes the codes aren't included and you have to buy them separately. Rent books and Used books usually don't have access codes because the books are used. Just make sure you read the fine print before you buy anything.

EDIT:

Another thing that I'd recommend then, is to contact your professors and see if they've got the ISBN necessary. You could also look up the title and edition and publisher of the book and google and something usually comes up (that's how I looked for mine). And try textbooks.com.

Even though books weren't really used at the community college, I can practically guarantee you will be using them at a University or College.

You could simply wait until the first day of classes, and sometimes professors put ISBNs and all on the syllabus. You can let the professor know you'll be getting the books soon and just need a copy put on reserve (if possible) at the library. That usually works with my professors.

As for English. I know I saved a lot of money by just looking up the poems and stories online, taking notes or printing a copy, and going to class that way. My teacher didn't mind.

What happens if you dont pay rent a center?

1 They will attempt to get the stuff back. First they will show up and ask you to let them in so they can remove it. You'll end up owing them money.

#2 If you ignore them, they will take you to court and will show at your door with the police and a warrant to remove the items.

#3 If they are unable to do the above, they will sue you or turn it over to collections and they will hunt you down and harass you for 7 years.

What you should do if you can't afford it, is call them and schedule a time for them to come in and pick up the items. A lot less headache however they'll still expect you to pay them a portion if what you owe.

Laptops buy now pay later no credit checks?

Don't you watch TV?

There used to be a commercial for Blue Hippo, which I now think is called Tronix Country or something. Thing is, you need a checking account, debit or credit card they can debit every week or whenever the payment is due in order to get their overpriced computer. Figure a laptop you could buy at Walmart for $500 is going to end up costing you about $1500 to 2k! LOL Not such a bargain now, is it?

Another place that will not check credit is any rent to own furniture store. Many have electronics, but, you probably need a checking account they can debit every week. I think laptops can run about $29 or more a WEEK, which comes out to $120 a month! Who knows how long their contract is, but you are going to pay through the nose. You would do better to just save as much as you can every week and then go buy it cash. Rent A Center/Aarons Rent to Own are two major chains that may be able to help you. You would also need a down payment, usually 2 weeks worth of *rent* on the item.

What happens after 90 days if you don't pay Rent-A-Center?

What happens after 90 days if you don't pay Rent-A-Center?My idiot older son just had an encounter with Rent-A-Center after not paying his fees. And it doesn’t take 90 days for RAC to take action. The first business day the payment was late, RAC began calling him.A few days after that, an RAC truck pulled up to my house because he’d told them he lived with me. I made his payment for him because he wasn’t answering my calls, either.According to the manager I talked to when I made the payment, if they don’t get a payment or cannot pick up the rented items in the 5 business days after the payment is missed, the new company policy is to file a stolen merchandise complaint with the police. That means at some point, a nice policeman would be knocking on my door, looking for my son. I did warn him that if that happened, I WOULD tell the nice policeman where to find him. (He was living in an extended stay hotel at the time.)

Can.i go to jail for not paying rent a center ?? Even though i.only have 300 dollars left to pay on it ?

No, you won't be arrested, but what Rent a Center will do is add extra fees.....that is how they make their money. So you may only have $300 on it now......but may end up owing twice as that. Always pay these type of places, and stay clear of them! These places take advantage of people. Not worth ruining your credit or making your credit worse!
