Can I Still Attend College If I Graduate At 20

Is 22 too late to start college when I graduated from high school at 19 ?

Oh, heavens no!  At 22, you are still a baby to this world!  However, for some, at 22 they already have quite a bit of worldly experience.  Take military veterans, for example.  Typically, people in the US graduate high school at 17 or 18, if they do a hitch in the military, they will get out around 22 years of age.  They will find it a little more difficult to fit in as they will not necessarily agree with the more left-leaning doctrine usually found in colleges and universities.  Their life-experiences will contradict a lot of what is told to freshmen right out of high school.  Other than being seen as an older person (I know, right!) and possibly not being in the same mindset as other students in your same year, 22 is not too old.

Is it too late to go to college at 21?

Absolutely not ! :) When I was a teen, I had the pleasure of meeting a globally respected physician, within his area of course… and he went to medical school at 35, at that time him been 20 years older I thought, wow that was old to start med school, as the path we are expected to follow is graduate high school, go to tech school or college and start a job before we turn 23…Myself personally, have had some starts and stops as have other colleagues of mine, but that did not stop us from constantly reassessing ourselves, where we wanted to go, what we wanted to achieve and contribute and then plan a course of action to get there…the key is taking stock of where you are now and what you want to achieve in life…not where you see yourself at 30 or 35 but maybe in segments, next 5, the following 5–10 and then the rest of your years. Some folks pursue a degree and end up in a career that has nothing to do with that they studied at Uni. At 23 you’ve had some time to reflect, experience life a little, work, observe and probably see what can or cannot work for you, that you may not have had a perspective on at say 17 or 18…Today, people are living well into their 80’s, my great uncle a retired neurosurgeon is in his 80s and still actively engaged in his profession and his community outside of work…and he did not start his career as a neurosurgeon :)Hope this helps :)

Going to college in my late 20s?

Ok first it is never too late to start school. I have seen many people go back after many years and some people going in their old age. They are usually the best students.

Good luck. You may want to try going to the community college first and taking all your undergraduate courses that way it doesn't cost you an arm and a leg and that way you can go in as a Junior instead of a Freshman. Plus it allows you to figure out what you want to do. You basically go and sign up. They will test you in Math, Reading, and English to see where you place and make sure you get into the right classes. You will also meet with a guidance counselor in whatever major you want to go into or you may be undecided and they have counselors for them too. it is just so much easier to go to the community college and get all those transfer classes overwith. Otherwise you will spend 4 plus years at the University versus 2 years and that can save you a lot of money and time. I can't stress this enough. If you were much younger and just starting out and on Mom and Dad's money then I would say go for the University right away. You need some refresher courses to see if you are were you need to be before jumping in.

Is starting college at age 20 too late?

no, its not

Is 20 years old too late to start college?

There is a perception that most people go to college right out of high school. However, depending on the type of institution you are viewing it can skew this age distinction. I have work at differnet large state institutions, where the on-campus student population was younger...hence more visiable, but that only accounted for a fraction of the number of student's who went to the school. When most people think "college" they think of the eighteen year old lying on the grass. The reality is that the twenty two year old, or older, have a life outside of the institution and are not necessairly statying there.

It's okay to contact a school, ask them what type of student population that they cater too. I was about to say, "non-traditional" is one option, but your age is so close that I don't even think that you fall into this catagory. However people paying for their own way through college tend to attend later, not right out of high school.

Finally, as someone who is twenty you have more life experience and more than likely more aligned priorites than someone who is eighteen. There are a number of student's who go to college that first year out of high school and aren't successful, simply becuase they don't have the maturity to deal with the real world situations that confront them.

I am 20 years old and I want to go to college. Is it too late?

Tomorrow never comes until its too late, I had many fellows at my university who started late in their 20's most probably in 25s to 30s, Keeping long short, If its your dream than get your butt and make it happen. Rise & grindI have been  in the same phase of  life,  Before 3 years losing my mom to lung cancer, Had a same dull witted thought of ending life,  Knowing no one  even gives a shit  if I die, Now 3 years have passed I look back say to myself in the mirror "Saurabh you made the right choice man, If you have gone through such a punch from life & Climbed a mountain, You can Climb any heights after taking many hardcore punches"  So I  definitely am understanding what you are going through,  You might not even had to face such issue & you are talking about quitting your life, I will not become your mom or dad in this decision. Remember this if you want to give a shot to life, Punch it hard one good time in its face & it will never challenge you the way it has challenged you before.  Stop living your life with feelings  & start living your life with principles, Because at the end of your little feelings there is nothing, But end of every principle there is a promise. All the best

Is graduating High School at age 19 bad?

I'm a 17 year old female and in September I'm suppose to be a senior but unfortunately I'm far behind on credits so I won't be graduating until 2012 and in September I'll be a 11th grade :'(
I'll be 19 in 2012 when I graduate. Do you think that is too old?
I'm very sad b/c all my friends and my boyfriend will be graduating next year and I'm going to
still be in school. I attend a online school so I just tell my boyfriend and my friends that I'm graduating next year even though I'm not. I hope they don't find out the truth. I'm just gonna keep it from them. I even cry about it sometimes. I feel that 19 is just too old
to be graduating High school. It's kinda embarrassing. My plans were to be in college by the age of 19 but I'll still be in High school ! :'(
Do you know anyone who graduated at 19 is it a bad thing?
Let me know. Share your answers on how you feel about this.

Thanks !

Is age 20 too old to start college?

I could not go to college immediately after high school due to financial reasons, and similar concerns are going to force me to opt out of yet another semester before I can resume my education. Even though I'm not generally the biggest fan of school, I'm aching to go back to it & I know that if I don't return that I'll regret that decision for the rest of my life.

So as of now the new plan is to head back to school next fall, after a two year absence from school altogether since my HS graduation. The thing that is really bothersome to me, though, is the whole age factor & the fact that I'll be 20 years old before I even step foot in a college class. Given that I'll be 20 when I start, I won't graduate with my BA until I'm 25 (after 2.5-3 years at my CC and another 2 years at the uni). Granted, I was always the one of the younger kids throughout my K-12 education, but this new notion that I'll be exceedingly older than everybody else in college truly unsettles me.
