18 and still have two baby teeth left?

Many adults have retained baby teeth. I have a couple people in my practice in their 50s who still have a baby tooth. It is likely that you do not have the adult teeth that would have pushed those baby teeth out.

Your options are:

- keep the baby teeth as long as possible, and:
a) have the dentist add a little material to them to make them look larger and more like adult teeth
b) leave the teeth as they are
- remove the teeth, and:
a) leave the space (bad choice)
b) have dental implants
c) have a partial denture made
d) have a bridge created to fill the space

The best thing to do is talk to your dentist. The cost of each of those options is very different. Obviously the cheapest option is to leave things as they are, there's nothing wrong with the teeth. The next easiest option is to leave the teeth alone and have them "built-up" to look like adult teeth... probably a few hundred dollars... but who knows how long those teeth will stay in your mouth. The most expensive, but the most permanent, is to have dental implants. You would need to see a specialist to have the implants placed, then allow them to heal (months), and then have a crown placed on each implant. This is about $3000-$4000 PER TOOTH... but because you are so young, this really is a terrific investment.

Good luck.

Has anyone had braces with baby teeth?

I live in the UK, so braces will be free until i'm 16
im 13 now
i had a tooth out so that the adult teeth can grow in faster
i have a couple of baby teeth left, im over 2 years behind everyone else teeth-wise.
my dentist wrote to the authadontist so i could be fitted for braces, i will be hearing back in about 6 months, probably about 5 more now.
so has anyone ever had braces with a few baby teeth in?
My dentist said i might because, as i said, or wrote, whatever, its free till im 16, and my mum wants to get it out of the way.
thanks in advance

I have braces on and when I bite down my back teeth hurt on my right side. Why????????

When I got my braces I had two baby teeth still in. I lost the one on my left side first, and about 7 days later, I lost the one on my right side. A few days after Iost my last baby tooth, it hurt whenever I bit down and my teeth touched on that side. Sometimes, it even hurt my front teeth. I think I noticed my back teeth shifting to make room for the tooth, but they aren't lined up anymore because of it! Is this something to worry about??????? I am going to the ortho in 9 days for a tightening and will he notice a problem??? P.S When I wake up in the morning it doesn't hurt, but as the day goes on and I bite down more it hurts.

Should i let my 8 year old son get braces??

You should see an orthodontist. My daughter had the same problem. The problem with waiting till all the baby teeth fall out is, the adult teeth will start growing in crooked. The orthodontist will give you son a space maintainer. It is perfectly normal to get braces that young. His mouth is still growing and the reason for the Miss aligned teeth re that his mouth is small, and the new adult teeth have no room. It's a good idea.

2 baby teeth left and I'm in seventh grade?

I'm in seventh grade and I still have two baby teeth left. Is this normal? Is ther something wrong with me? I went to the dentist a couple weeks ago and they said we can talk about me getting braces near September and hopefully my teeth will be out. But everybody in my grade doesn't hav anymore baby teeth so it kinda worries me that I do still :S

Can i still get braces if two of my permanent teeth are still growing?

Hey! I have braces right now and I still have a tooth that hasn't grown down yet. I think its beginning to though! So yes its okay to get braces if all your teeth haven't grown down yet. (Obviously they won't put a bracket) the wire will just go over the gap. When you have braces for a couple months and your teeth haven't grown down yet they MIGHT put a spring on the wire. Hope this helped!

I've had my braces for a while, and one single tooth started hurting. What happened?

There could be a number of reasons for your tooth hurting. You may have a cavity, there might be something stuck or it could be the braces. It’s best to get your orthodontist to check it out. You may need to have an x-ray to check if it’s something more serious. Sometimes our teeth hurt just because of sensitivity, don’t stress too much until you’ve seen your orthodontist.

Is it necessary to remove 4 teeth in order to get braces?

Not normally. The orthodontist I refer to rarely removes teeth because he knows he will get grief from me if he asks me to extract teeth out of one of my kids. As a general dentist who practiced orthodontics for 20 years I know that removing bicuspids causes all sorts of problems down the line. Just to mention one thing, the bicuspids are required in order to maintain vertical dimension. Without them after a few years the bite will close down and increased wear will occur. For many years I studied with a group of dentists who used appliance therapies and different techniques to accomplish a nice face, reasonable teeth and zero extractions. Occasional we would remove second molars if there were third molars that could erupt into the place. Big smiles, nice symmetrical faces, good breathing and swallowing. These dentists have a number of associations and learning centres and you can find a participating Doctor there. As a disclaimer many or most of these doctors are not orthodontic specialists, they are general dentist who enjoy, or choose to do this work to accomplish a different set of goals than a registered orthodontist.Find a Doctorhttp://www.myobrace.com/find_a_p...
