Can I Still Get Into A University

If I did bad in high school, can I still go to university after community college?

Of course. There is always room for improvement. Just because you did bad in high school doesn't mean that you will continue to do poorly on academics. It doesn't have to be even a community college that you have to apply to, there are more than 5000 universities in US. Just apply to the ones that you like, if you get admitted well congrats in advance. However, do keep in mind that going to a community college for 2 years to get your associates degree would definitely help you to get into your top choice schools such as Harvard maybe? Especially if you do very good in community college, no one can stop you. Just keep something in mind, don't let anything distract you, I am assuming there was at least one factor that caused you to write this question here. So whether it is bullying, low income, family, friend, boy/girlfriend, don't and don't ever let anything distract you. Not to brag, I went to one of the top universities and I am currently in the top #10 med school in US. I think I am in this position right now because I never ever had a girlfriend to distract me, never had a bad friend, always had good relationship with my high school teachers/ professors, involved myself into many activities and community service along with internships. So just to keep it short, just dedicate yourself to education until you are 24, then live and eat the fruits that you deserved in your professional life.I wish you the best of professional careers out there:)

LOW ACT SCORE, HIGH GPA...CAN I STILL GET INTO A UNIVERSITY? REALLY IMPORTANT!?

I have a 3.5 gpa and the highest gpa you can have at my school is a 4.0. i make good grades and my only c is in math. i really want to go to jackson state university. i have been in band, jrotc and i have lot of community service hours. although my act score is low, would jackson state university still accept me? i really need college people or those who know much about this to give me advice.

Can I still get into Cambridge University?

I was always told ‘yes’, although I never put it to the test… the primary thing Cambridge select on is AS level results, with the interview as the main discriminator between people with similar results and predicted grades. If your AS results are excellent — and (at least for a science course) I do mean 90%+, and 95%+ for the subject you actually want to study — then I see no reason why they wouldn’t give you an interview and indeed an offer if you impress them. There will also be a question of background - if you went to an excellent school where most people get very good GCSEs it will look bad, whereas if your results are fair by your school’s standard it will matter less (indeed, your personal statement could leverage it as a virtue if you go from disappointing GCSEs to excellent AS levels).Okay, that’s the good news. Now for the tough truth — the best predictor of how a student will do at any educational stage is how well they did at the previous stage. It is exceptionally difficult to excel at AS after a poor performance at GCSE, because the GCSE knowledge is taken for granted. It is a big step up in difficulty. If you want to make it happen, you need to get into top gear right now. Revise the GCSE material for your AS level subjects, and hit the ground running: blitz the first term like your life depends on it. Many of the candidates who eventually make it absolutely will be putting in 40–50 hour weeks (or even more, but my personal hunch is that people who do that get diminishing returns and/or burn out quickly).

If you didn't take any science classes in college (undergrad) can you still get into a medical school?

You can get into med school if you haven't taken any science classes in college, but you still have to take all the prerequisites and pass the MCATs (medical school admission test), which is biology, chemistry, physics, English, and writing. Prerequisite courses vary slightly from school to school but typically include 2 years of chemistry (general and organic)1 year of physics1 year of introductory biology with lab1 year Math1 year of College Level Englishhttp://www.princetonreview.com/m...There are post-baccalaureate premed courses, which are approximately 2 years in length that concentrate on the prerequisites.  For example, one at Columbia http://www.gs.columbia.edu/postbac/

Can you get into a CSU with a D for the semester?

I'm a junior in HS and I got a D for chemistry for the first semester. I was planning on make that grade up in summer school for a better grade but I just found out today that the chemistry classes were full and that I would have to wait until May to see if there would be an opening. I REALLY REALLY REALLY want to get into a CSU and major in nursing but what can I do if there's no more room in summer school? What if I can't make it up? Can I still get into SFSU even w/ just one D for the semester?

Can you still get into grad school with one bad term?

If you have a good reason for such a performance, then it’s still possible. I would definitely make sure that it’s explained in your essays or application somewhere. Another thing I would recommend is consider retaking the F.When I was in undergrad, I had one semester where I had a similar experience. I became severely depressed and ended up failing two courses, getting a C in another, and withdrawing from the rest. I went on self-imposed academic probation because I couldn’t handle it at the time. My GPA had plummetted to mid-2-something. The thought that one bad experience (I won’t go into the whole story of why here) could derail my aspirations for grad school was deeply upsetting. What kind of school would accept a student witha 2.xx? Thankfully, I overcame my depression and went back to the school. I chalked the C up as a mistake that I would just have to move past, as it was an art class and I was not the most artistically talented person, so I believed retaking it would only increase my grade to likely a B.But for the two Fs, I retook both of them. They were both classes I had disliked, but I sucked it up and retook them, getting an A in one and an A- in the other. My university had an option where you could retake up to three or five classes, I can’t remember, and the second grade would be kept. The transcript would still show the first grade, but it wouldn’t affect your GPA. After retaking those two classes, along with acing the other classes I had the semester I came back, my GPA was back in the high-3’s.The point is, you can live it down as long as you make reparations. You will need to discuss why it was so low in your application, but you can talk with your advisor to see what options you have. Some schools even have the option to retroactively withdraw if you have something serious enough happen in your life. Explore all your options and do your best. Don’t let one bad semester make you give up.

Can you still get into a pretty good college with one D on your report card?

Yes, you are likely to get in because of your non-academic activities. Schools like to accept people who make them look good, and LOTS of community service and outside activities, and great leader skills will get you in.

However, that does not mean that the school will not pay attention to your GPA. If the school you are wanting to go to has a minimum accepted GPA, for example, my school requires at least a 3.0, and you have a 2.0, you will not get it except through a reconsideration process (this involves writing an appeal letter and getting more recommendations).

I am assuming that you are wanting to get into an Ivey League school? I am not attending one, but I transferred to a first tier school. I got a D freshman year, I still got in. I don't know how an Ivey League would react though. They probably look at your overall GPA and pay extra special attention to your major's GPA.

Good luck to you!

Can I still get into a good UC without taking any AP?

Years ago, in a meeting with school administrators while touring UCSD, it was made clear that if your school offers AP courses and you decide NOT to take ANY, that counts against you.Admittance to UCs is now ridiculously hard , even for CA residents. If your school offers AP classes, take them, if not, it may still be OK, but remember, you will be compared with kids who took AP classes. The schools may be more flexible with International students, since it is rather hard to get AP classes outside the US.
