What career can I study with a GED?

If you want to succeed in anything, motivation to study will help get the job done. Most individuals are procrastinators when it comes to completing unenjoyable tasks. Realize that earning a GED is a step towards a better future. You'll want to pass the first time you take the tests so be prepared! Center yourself on your need to pass the GED, then focus on that. Visualize yourself in the future with a better job, making more money, higher education, anything to keep you working towards your goal. Keep this visualization in mind to motivate yourself to earn your GED.   Study Wisely   Concentrate on individual sections of the test; don't try to study for everything at once. The GED requires you to know five different subject areas that can be overwhelming. Begin with subject areas that you are most comfortable with or the subject you need less work on. Try not to study your weakest subject first, begin with the easiest. Everyone has their personal reasons why they didn't finish high school. One reason may be that high school wasn't enjoyable and rewarding for you. With that aside, you need to get some success under your belt. Try taking a practice test, and then work on subjects you still need to improve upon. Take another practice test to find out if you're ready to take the GED. When you are confident, move on to the next subject area.

DO I GET a ARMY BONUS WITH A GED?

unless you score a 50 or higher on the ASVAB you wont be qualified for the army at all. but lets say you have and/or did. then you will still needs to take the AIMS test, this test will determine any bonus you may get in relation to the career field you pick.

typically however, not many with GED's get bonus's, i have however seen some with GED's get near the max available to them.

Can I still get my ged and start fresh at age 27 in this life?

Sure you can. 27 is still young. My mom got hers about that age I think, ended up working at a Dr.'s office, nursing home, and for the MS society. Someone said it was grade 10 but I do believe it is a grade 12 equivalent.

Different schools have different requirements but I am sure most have a process for GED students. Some agencies may also offer free tutoring for GED students. Here the family centre does as does a few inner city agencies.

Instead of college though I'd consider technical school. It is usually less time and far more lucrative. Things like being a plumber, nurse, xray tech, mechanic or other tradesperson is a great way to have a career. I took a one year course in fundraising management and voluntary sector management and work for charities. I am working part-time right now, but at my best I was making $50,000 a year. It took me about 7 years to get there though. Started at $35,000.

27 is not too old to start over. Expect some bumps, but if you set your mind to it you can do it. And if you run into problems see if there are any charities out there or people that can help you study.

Can I get into medical school with a GED?

Yes! You just need to earn your bachelor’s degree first before you apply to medical school. With a GED, you’ll have a chance to get your college degree even if you weren’t able to get a high school diploma.Take it one step at a time. For your long-term goal, you’re aiming to become a medical doctor. But for now, your short-term goal is to pass the GED test. Study for the test and aim for more than just the passing score. Some colleges and universities require you to score higher than the minimum passing score (145 for each subject and 580 or higher across all subjects).Read GED study guides to know the test coverage, take GED practice tests, sign up for GED classes, and join a support group for GED test-takers to increase your chance of passing the test.

What kids of jobs can I get with a GED?

Many job applications will state that a diploma or equivalent is required for a job. Any job that asks for diploma or equivalent would be available to you. Many other jobs do not require even a diploma (look at the jobs that current HS students have). Many retail, manual labor, government service (Post office for example), restaurant service, and other jobs could be available for you, but these would tend to be lower wage jobs (at least to start). Most community or technical colleges will accept the GED as an entry point (although you may be asked to take a placement test and, depending on the results of that test, you may be required to take developmental courses). There are many other jobs that will be available to apply for once a degree as well as a GED are in your pocket.

What Kind of jobs can i get with an Ged???

You aren't a failure until you decide you are. Any job that that requires a high school diploma you are qualified for.

You can take classes at a community college or enroll in trade school.

I make more money then most of my friends who have their college degree and I am still working on mine.

I know a lot of people who have higher education degrees who are morons. And I know some with only a high school diploma or even 1 that never graduated and they are extremely intelligent.

If I already have my GED but from another country, can I get a college career?

Yes, GED is a US high school equivalency test that can be taken in over 60 countries all over the world, according to the GED Testing Service website. You can go to college with a GED credential. My advice though is to aim for more than just a passing score, especially if you want to get into a reputable university. The passing score is actually 145 for each subject and a total score of 580 or higher for all subjects. But you need to get at least 165 for each subject to get a College Ready score. To achieve these test scores, get a GED study guide to see the test coverage, attend GED preparation classes and take GED practice tests. It would also help if you’ll join a community of GED test-takers and instructors who will give you the motivation to prepare effectively for the test.

Am I a failure for getting a GED? Will it be harder to be successful?

I was a high school dropout. Like you, I had a variety of factors that converged that resulted in me repeating freshman year 3 times. When I got my driver's license as a freshman, I realized I needed to take a different path.I got an “alternative” diploma which combined the few credits I attained in high school with life experience, and several school assignments to fill in the gaps. I was 19 when I graduated. I then attended three semesters of community college and stopped.People never suspected I was “uneducated” because I was well-spoken and well informed. I liked to read and keep up on current events. I never didn't get a job I wanted because of my level of education. I attended seminars and used computer training to expand my skills. My point in telling you my story is to illustrate that an alternative diploma, such as a GED, does not have to hinder you. Use the GED as a stepping stone to the next thing. Many professions don't require university style education. Skilled trades, computer industry, and many other fields have specific training. But, if you want a college education and career, a GED is not a deal breaker.I went back to school in my 30s. I started at a community college and took all of my core courses. It was a good transition, small campus, small classes. I had no trouble obtaining admission into a university, and qualified for financial aid.So no, I don't think a GED makes you a failure. Taking the non traditional path is not an easy path. Best of luck to you.

Can you get a good job wit a GED?
