Can I Sue Or Start A Congressional Inquiry

How does requesting a congressional inquiry help a soldier?

Say a soldier contacts two of their local representatives, one for the district that they are currently assigned, one outside of their district, and requests to file a congressional inquiry against their command for violating the regulations and abuse of authority. The soldier meets up with the military liaison's and turns over their evidence, which consists of regulations, personnel file records and other pertinent documents and is told to wait for a response back. Soldier gets a response back from the representatives office after a few months in the form of an email/letter telling the soldier that the army said they were right and followed the regulations but provided no evidence other than their statement which contradict the documents the soldier turned in earlier. One liaison suggests that the soldier takes legal action against the army because their is a clear violation of the reg and the other liason says that the soldier should let it go. What is the soldiers next course of action? I know the skeptics and know-it-all's are going to attempt to discredit this and insist that the soldier is wrong on some level, without having their facts right but go ahead. I'll go more into detail in the updates....

Can a member of the U.S. Congress be convicted of lying to Congress?

If a member of Congress stands up in front of everyone when they have the floor under parliamentary rules, like on C-SPAN, and makes a speech full of lies, then no, that’s not prosecutable. That happens all the time. The only time anyone can be convicted for lying would technically have to be purjury, when you are sworn under oath as giving testimony before Congress or a Congressional panel that you’re not lying. This is true for anyone among the public or in government.

Should I sue the Military?

My husband has been in the USMC for almost a year. Before joining he was on probation in Ga. His recruiter from Ga assured him that he would handle it. The recruiter said that he had talked to the judge and the probation officer and that the probation had been terminated. However, almost a year later, we live in NC and we came to for our wedding. 2 days later he was arressted for Violation of Probation for leaving the state of Ga. We tried to find a paper trail stating that the recruiter had gotten the probation terminated. The paper work showed that a judge had signed off on terminating the probation...however the judges sig. had been faurged. We then later found out from the probation officer that The recruiter had been contacted and was told that my husband was still on probation. My husband was in boot camp at that time and the recruiter said nothing about the message. So we were thinking that every thing was ok, but now a year later, he gets locked for leaving. My Husbands pay got stopped for being UA and we fell behind on bills, he sat in jail over a month before a court date and the military acted as if they had nothing to do with the mix up....should we sue?

The IRS lost my tax return and I have a certified receipt. Can I sue them for negligence of federal property?

Think about it, you have two options:
1. Send them a copy of the original information and get a copy of the canceled check or your money order receipt. Put it in a certified envelope and mail it to them with a statements proving you did this once.

or

2. Expect to become the poster child for how the IRS can harass you legally, for as long as you live. I say that in fun, sorta.

Seriously, no you can not sue the IRS. How much money and time do you have? Triple it for what they have to come back at you.

As for making them pay you interest on your money. What money? If you owed them, you have no 'money' invested to earn interest on.

As for compensating you for your time, ain't going to happen.
Negligence of federal property. Stop dreaming because your tax return isn't federal property until and unless the IRS or another government agency stamps it as 'received. Property of....' whichever agency has it.

Military breach of contract due to non-payment?

Since you have exhausted all other means. Contact your Senator and or congressman. Ask to get a congressional inquiry on the matter. They will put a boot up your chain of command to get things rolling.
I ended up doing this for a Soldier of mine after we got back from Iraq. He was injured and it was the end of our rotation and the paperwork got lost for his purple heart. When we got back, our battalion commander and company commander both moved on and the new commanders new nothing about it. They were giving him the run around. Me as his PL/ XO while in Iraq had also gotten out of the military. We tried to go through the proper channels, well then I talked to an old 1SG of mine and he recommended the congressional inquiry.
Needless to say, they acted and he finally got what he deserved. It just took a senator calling a 2 star in our chain of command.
Just want you to know, if you go this route, your command might not be so happy. From a congressional inquiry, well it comes from the top down. And I mean pretty damn high up. But its always an option.
good luck

Why is Saudi Arabia threatening to sell almost $1 TRILLION US assets if the 28 classified pages from the 9/11 investigation are released publicly?

The official reason is that the Saudis fear possible freezing and confiscation of their assets. If the bill passes, it allows Saudi Arabia to be sued for possible official complicity in 9-11. If the case goes to court, and looking at the rest of the pages of the 9-11 report, there's a good chance the court might find Saudi officials were in fact complicit in the attack. If the court awards damages, and Saudi declines to pay, the US government could be ordered by the court to seize Saudi assets and liquidate them to pay the damages. That's the official line. Unofficially, Saudi wants to pressure the US into abandoning the bill because of the danger it could set a precedent that would more or less make it impossible for the Saudis to borrow money from the West - imagine if the USA, Canada, Japan and Europe plus Britain all had such laws. The Saudis would be in trouble - mainly because it isn't that hard to see that Saudi Arabia does support terrorism around the world  - and would have their financial and other alliance options narrowed down to Russia and China.
