Can I Use A Different Name In High School

What's the name for a high school diploma?

I know if you don't originally graduate from high school, but get an equivalent, they call it a GED, but is there a special name for a high school diploma, other than calling it a high school diploma? I'm filling out an application for a professional job, and I'm just wondering if I'm using the correct nomenclature. Thanks! :)

Or if all else fails contact GLSEN @ glsen.org and tell them that your school is not allowing your GSA to exist under the term "GSA". You could also call the ACLU @ http://www.aclu.org/lgbt/youth/index.html and call your school out on not having equal rights for everyone.

I want to go by a different name at my new school?

Are you old enough to get a driver license? Have your new name put on the license. You don't need a court order or anything, as long as the birth name is recorded too. Just tell them that's what everybody calls you.

With friends, you just tell them "Call me ***." They will.

Is it possible to go by a different name in school if it is not my legal name?

People have nicknames. Pick one you like and ask people to call you that. To get names changed on legal forms, school registration, etc, you would have to go through a legal name change. If you are under 18, you will need your parents’ permission to change your name.As long as the nickname is appropriate, and it can even be a different traditional kind of name, no one will refuse to call you by it. Except maybe your parents. But well you know, parents are parents.

We have to wear name tag with first and last name in high school kitchen. Can they make us wear it?

Hey Audrey,

You must be a hoot and a holler to work with!

What's the problem? Shouldn't you worry about other things like how often people are washing their hands, who isn't wearing a hairnet, who's not rotating stock.... !

But if you must, it would be perfectly acceptable to most authorities to list only your first name and last initial. Most Hospitals do this for their nursing staff. Oh, wait, that was only in the Psych ward....

Oh yeah, same thing.

Can you change your name on your high school diploma after graduating?

Your Social Security Number has nothing to do with the name on your transcripts. The only way your SSN would be different is if you had to get a new SSN because of identity theft or something similar. Also, its not a big deal to have a different name on your transcripts. On your application, you are asked if you have records under a different name. You would merely tell the college that you have records with your mom's maiden name.

How do I get my friends to call me by a different name?

First of all, give your mother a break. She wanted to give you a name that would fit in with the other kids at school. She thought it would help you adjust, and it probably did. And she didn’t change your name, she kept it. She just put it where it wouldn’t make the other kids make fun of you. Now, if you want to go by a different name, just tell people that. Tell them you’re going to start going by your middle name, not your first. You can tell them why if you want to, but you don’t have to.Don’t make a big deal over it. And don’t make your mother wrong. You’re a teenage, there’ll be plenty to make your mother wrong about it in the next few years. Let this one go.

Should students call high school teachers by first name?

Ultimately, it's up to the individual teacher.

However, I think teachers who encourage their students to call them by their first names are having severe Peter Pan issues, and don't want to grow up. I'm sure some of the students feel embarrassed calling their teacher "Fred" or "Judy" too.

Any teacher should post his or her preferred name somewhere in the classroom. The students should use it.

Coaches should get the honorific "Coach Knute" or whatever their last name is.

Co-ordinators . . . should use their last names with the appropriate honorific if they want to be taken seriously.

Counsellors might consider the students case by case. There may be students who respond better to a first-name relationship, but . . . it's tricky.

I teach at various schools (kind of a guest-teacher), and my co-worker, who has the same job, goes by his first name. But, in his case, he has valid reasons. We teach in Japan, and kids just murder his last name. They murder his first name, too, so he has the kids call him "Mike-sensei." In my case, kids would murder my first name, but they do well with my last name, so I prefer Mrs. M.

Of course, by my user name, you can see I take honorifics seriously (-:.

Interesting question!

How can I use someone else's address for High School?

In the US

Just writing down a different address for school isn't going to work. They will check where your parents live. I had to show my driver's license- and/or an utilities bill with your parents name and address on it. The school district is going to want proof of your address. Proof you live there. You and your parents can not just tell them, yes this is my address.

getting some else bill does not work. It MUST have YOUR parents name on it with the address. You can not temproarly change the name on a utility bill
