Is core i7 laptop is good for gaming?

RAM and GPU??? GPU is more important in some games than the CPU.

Opinions on laptop specs?

So I'm looking into buying a new laptop and I'm a bit overwhelmed with all the various options out there. I know a small bit about what makes a "good" machine, but not quite enough to be completely certain if what I'm buying is going to serve me well. I've got two front-runners at this point and was wondering if any of you computer geniuses out there could help me out?

1. The Dell Inspiron i15rm- 2.0GHz Intel Core i7-3537U processor with 4MB cache, 8GB DDR3 1600MHz memory, 1TB 5400 RPM hard drive, and Intel HD Graphics

2. The Sony Vaio Fit 15e- Same processor and memory as above, and with an option to get either a 1TB (5400rpm) hard drive or a 750GB (5400rpm) + 8GB SSD hybrid hard drive. This one also comes with NVIDIA® GeForce® GT 740M (2GB) hybrid graphics as opposed to the Intel HD integrated Graphics.

The price on these two is too close to really factor into my decision (within $10-20 of each other), and the screens are the same size. I'm looking to use the laptop mainly for schoolwork and browsing, but also want something that I can use for casual lag-free gaming and video streaming- Netflix, YouTube, and whatnot.

Is either brand much better than the other? Is there a clear winner here and I'm just too computer illiterate to see it? Any help would be greatly appreciated!

Good laptop in the 800-1000 $ range?

Heres a little background information...
I'm a nerd. I spend nearly all of my time programming and playing computer games.
I want a Windows 7 or 8 laptop with average to good specs. Good battery, maybe 4+ RAM, a nice processor, a good graphics card. I really just want a laptop that I can play Minecraft on. averaging 50+ FPS. Also, i want to be able to play Civ 4 (not Civ 5, i'm not much of a fan) and maybe even some high-tech games like Skyrim and Fallout. Is there a computer out there like that for $800-$1000?

Is this a good laptop for gaming?

Samsung NP365E5C-S01US Series 3 15.6

It costs about $450

4GB Memory 500GB HDD
AMD Radeon HD 7640G
Windows 8 64-Bit

I'm looking to run older games like Thief 3, Crossfire, GTA: San Andreas, Oblivion, Fallout: New Vegas. So it doesn't have to be top quality, but my current laptop can't run the games I listed very well.

And also my price limit is maybe $500 so please don't recommend me to Ibuypower, Alienware, or anything like that.

Lenovo or Dell Laptop?

Hi.. I have been searching about the difference and quality between Lenovo and Dell.. but im still confused which one to buy..
im looking for
8GB Ram
Processor Core 2 i7
2GB Nvidia VGA card
Can anyone tell me which brand is the best for these specs..
Mainly i wanna run some Heavy softwares on it or probably games and my budget is 700-880 USD so is there any other recommendation rather than the above mentioned? Any helpful answer would be highly appreciated.. Thanks in Advance

What is better, lenovo or dell laptops?

I couldn't really give an answer, but Lenovo is IBM and that is some thing I would not question it's quality. It definitely wouldn't be a crappy computer.

If I have an average cheap laptop would I still be able to play GTA 5 without any problems ?

Average is a relative term, knowing the specs of the laptop will help answer your question. Here are the minimum system requirements for a laptop to play GTA 5.Minimum SpecsOS: Windows 8.1 64 Bit, Windows 8 64 Bit, Windows 7 64 Bit Service Pack 1, Windows Vista 64 Bit Service Pack 2* (*NVIDIA video card recommended if running Vista OS)Processor: Intel Core 2 Quad CPU Q6600 @ 2.40GHz (4 CPUs) / AMD Phenom 9850 Quad-Core Processor (4 CPUs) @ 2.5GHzMemory: 4GBVideo Card: NVIDIA 9800 GT 1GB / AMD HD 4870 1GB (DX 10, 10.1, 11)Sound Card: 100% DirectX 10 compatibleHDD Space: 65GBFor a smooth gaming experience though, you should be having the recommended requirements below or higher specsRecommended SpecsOS: Windows 8.1 64 Bit, Windows 8 64 Bit, Windows 7 64 Bit Service Pack 1Processor: Intel Core i5 3470 @ 3.2GHZ (4 CPUs) / AMD X8 FX-8350 @ 4GHZ (8 CPUs)Memory: 8GBVideo Card: NVIDIA GTX 660 2GB / AMD HD7870 2GBSound Card: 100% DirectX 10 compatibleHDD Space: 65GB

Should I upgrade my laptop (With extra 4gb Ram and 250 gb SSD) or buy a new one (i7), below is the config of my present laptop Intel Core i3 3110M 2.3 GHz 4 GB RAM 750 GB HDD NVIDIA GeForce GT 630M 2GB. Sometime I use it for Photoshop & Lightroom.

You use the laptop for Photoshop & Lightroom yet, it works perfectly; why get a new device? Just add an extra 4GB RAM and 250GB SSD. Do ensure you run the OS, Photoshop & Lightroom from the SSD and only use the HDD for file storage. If you mentioned the model ID, that would specify if it’s possible to upgrade or not. Now you’ll have to figure that on your own.As for a new system:Considering the config of your present laptop.CPU: 3rd gen i3-3110M at 2.3 GHz.RAM: 4GB.HDD: 750GB.GPU: GT 630m with 2GB vRAM.No! don’t consider an i7 - that’s just a waste of time and money. Consider the new and faster AMD APU R5–2500U.Since you’ve been comfortable with a Intel 3rd gen i3, an AMD R5 is 30–40% faster. No need to spend more on a 6th/7th/8th gen i5/i7 or an R7.The integrated GPU of the R5 is RX Vega 8 and it’s comparatively better than the GT 630m. Infact, it’s reliable than the GT 930m.If you go for an Intel laptop:The integrated GPUs are horrible (don’t lie to yourself). You’ll end-up paying INR 20–40K extra just for a dedicated GPU (maybe more, depends on the config and OEM’s profit margin).Considering how every generation is just 2–5% better, over the previous gen; you’ll have to wait 5 generations to get a good replacement.Even after the 5 generations there’s no assurance the CPUs are better - consider the security flaws which beset the present line-up of 7th and 8th gen Intel CPUs.AMD Ryzen has “Specter v2” issue but, they’ve released patches that work - not render the system unbootable, like Intel. Finally:Just upgrade the i3 laptop if you’re hesitant to switch to AMD. It buys time to decide on a new laptop. While Desktop AMD Ryzen 2 is eminent the mobile version will follow. This will offer a cheaper option if you want a long lasting laptop with a dedicated GPU.
