Can I Use A Lighter Shade Of Red To Balance The Color Of My Hair

Will an ash blonde cancel out the red /orange in my hair after using oops color remover? Will it turn green?

You will need to get a blue based ash, a green base WILL leave you with greenish/gray hair, since it’s reasonable to assume it’s damaged if you had to strip your hair. I made that mistake once. *shudders* It would make it greenish/gray. Good Luck.

I’ve heard 40 volume creme developer can help lighten hair even without bleach. I have thick, dark brown hair with orangeish-brown tips and I want to safely achieve a lighter ash blonde. How can I instantly lighten my hair color without bleach?

You will not be able to achieve a ash blond (level 7/8/9) without bleach. Anything you can get available to the general public will not be strong enough for your desired outcome so unless you can get pro product do not attempt it. 40 vol (12%) mixed with color or hi-lift color always pulls warmth meaning it exposes the natural red & yellow pigment in the hair. My guess is you are about a lv.3-4 see chart:The column on the right is the corresponding level of hairs underlying raw pigment. You must bypass all the red stages first. So a level 7 is the first yellow/gold stage. At a lv.7 raw, you can use a lv7 color to neutralize the yellow. A lighter color:8+ will not be strong enough to neutralize the warmth of a lv.7 raw. lv.7A/7.1=ash will give you a lv.7N (see left side #7) ideally a level 8–9 = yellow-pale yellow base/raw is best to get an ash blond like:The first is a lv.7 then 8 then 9. having 1 process with a good quality bleach + 30 volume is better than 40 volume X2+ hi-lift color & will pass the red-gold stages. I would recommend seeing a good colorist with experience & chemical knowledge. I would also recommend getting a full head of hi-lites over doing the whole head as the dark roots come in fast & if your hair is naturally dark, your completion will get washed out with the whole head in an ash blond, You can also do peek-a-boo foils in the interior of the hair in panels which are away from the part & hair line so you do not see roots for a long time.

My hair wont change color.?

Ok so I am a natural brunette. I dyed my hair for the first time last summer. But i just dyed it a lighter brown. Sorta like a goldish color. Then I dyed it completely black. (which i regreted) but then aftrer like 4 months i tried to dye it back brown. And it barely did anything. It just got like brown highlights. But then it slowly started turning back to brown. It had just a lil bit of black in it but most of it was brown. So last week i tried to dye my hair blonde. And nothing happened. I followed all of the directions right, But nothing happened. (I know Ive probally worn my hair out, but my hair is always really healthy looking) Any suggestions why my hair didnt change to blonde?

Can I apply a second box of hair dye color to get a better result?

Sure you can! Just give your hair at least two weeks to calm down and prepare for more trauma. Do some deep conditioning masks and baby your hair.Choose your next dye based on the results you have, to achieve the results you want. Do you want it darker? Is it too ashy? Just splotchy? Choosing a different shade (be it darker, warmer, simply two boxes, etc) will give you better results than repeating the same thing and hoping for a different result. That’s the definition of insanity, you know. ;)Also a heads up: the hair dye VERY rarely turns out like on the box. Really. I know it may seem like a waste of time, but do a strand test before dying…this has saved me from orange hair a couple times.

What color do I have if I mix brown hair dye with ash blonde? My hair is dyed brown now.

You will probably get a dark blonde, BUT the more important question is whether the brown dye you currently have is warm or cool toned.Because any ash colour is cool toned, i.e. blue, green or violet based, it means ash over ash could be too cool toned. In extreme cases, the hair could turn green because there is too much of the same colour base.If the brown is warm, i.e. Red, orange or yellow based, then this neutralises the cool tones present in the ash blonde to give a nice, balanced colour (though maybe still leaning slightly towards the ash end).If your brown dye is cool toned, then I’d advise picking up blonde dye that’s “golden” toned rather than “ash”. Obey the colour wheel.

Dying my hair never comes out the color i want?

I have long med-dark brown hair naturally. I like to dye my hair every so often...recently like last april, i picked up a hair dye from target to dye my hair a lighter shade of brown. It worked, but not too much...two months later i tried again, same results. Now its been 3-4 months since then and i dyed it once more and this time a very light golden brown shade....nothing ! It kind of worked but it looks nothing like the box. I rlly want my hair to be a light brown shade. What am i doing wrong and should i just go to the salon instead?? Thanks

Tried dying my hair & nothing happened. It's still the same color, can I try again in the same week or wait 6?

You can try again the same week just be sure to use a really good conditioner to prevent breakage. Ive gone as far as relax and color in the same day. The problem is your hair is already dark you need to use certain things to lighten it, you'd have no problem going from brown to black..you better check with a professional to see what product to use.
