Can you use a regular King Headboard for a California King Mattress?

A king sized mattress is 76" x 80".
A California King is 72" x 84".

There is 4" difference between the two. You may be able to use a regular king sized headboard with a cal king mattress, it is really going to depend on the headboard itself. You are going to want to make sure that the headboard brackets on your bed are going to line up with the headboard and not be too wide. You could always fashion yourself an adapter between the two if you want also.

What is a california king matternress?

In furniture a California King is classified as a 6/0 and a Regular King is classified as 6/6. This is because they take the 6 inches from the regular and make the California King longer. I have never heard of an Eastern King. I don't think it has anything to do with the names. If it does, it's probably because the California King was first released or "invented" in California, and vice versa.

California king waterbed?

I think we answered all of these questions back in the 70's when a lot of us had water beds and had to do the calculations using supercomputers and an abacus. A California King is 6' wide and 7' long, or 42 square feet. Water weighs about 62 pounds per cubic foot, so assuming that your mattress isn't thicker than 12", the formula would be 6 X 7 X 62 = 2604 pounds total. If it's 10" thick, it will weigh 2170 pounds and if it's 8", it'll weigh 1736 pounds. The weight will be spread over the entire surface and will be no more than 62 pounds per square foot for a mattress12" thick and down to less than 42 pounds per square foot for one 8" thick, which any well designed and built floor can handle with no problem. Most building managers back then only required that you have a liner to contain any leaks, so you should be good to go.

I wonder if I could find the Bicentennial themed sheets I had back then?

What kind of sheets will I need for a Serta King size double pillow top mattress?

Lots of companies make "extra deep" sheets for the thicker mattresses -- the only difference is in the fitted sheets having longer sides -- the flat sheets are the same.

Look at The Company Store's bedding, they offer sheets and mattress pads for the extra deep mattresses:

You can also just buy california king sized flat sheets and tuck them under the mattress for the bottom sheet -- you really don't need fitted sheets if you know how to make the bed with a "hospital corner" the way they do in hotel suites,

Can an eastern king bed fit the same comforter and sheets as a california king?

Hi, The sheets would probably not fit or be a tight fit as the eastern king bed is wider at 78"x80" whereas the california is 72"x84".

The fitted sheet for an eastern king is 78"x80" and the flat sheet is 108"x102". The fitted sheet for the california king is 72"x84" and the flat sheet is 102"x110". Hope this helps.
