Can I Use Chase Online

Can I use my Chase debit card to buy things online?

Yes, you can use it like a credit card. Although I wouldn't recommend using your debit card. Try to use a credit card if you have one. There's lots of fraud on the internet. If someone steals your debit card numbers, they will wipe out your bank account. Your bank is insured, and they should pay you back your money, but it's not a pleasant experience to go thru.

Can I use my Chase ATM card to buy things online?

Depends on if it is an ATM card, or a debit card. Usually, the debit card will have either a Visa or Master Card logo on it, and will have an account number on it that looks like a credit card account number and an expiration date. It's been a while since I've seen an ATM card, so I think I recall the telling sign is that ATM cards (non-debit) do not have an expiration date. Also, debit cards are only linked to checking accounts. If you just have a savings account, the ATM card cannot be used as a debit card.

Why doesn't Chase want me to use Online Bill Pay to pay Taxes?

A coupe of issues that I can see.. (and I use Chase)

1) TIMELINE... You may experience a delay that would cause the payment to be late... CHASE is pretty slow in delivering checks that are not electronically transferred... (They seem to like that 'float')

2) COPIES: Electronic checks are not easy to track by copies.. Often they are 'not available' and then you might not have any proof you paid the taxes.

3) APPLICATION: You need to make certain that the right Tax Codes are entered on the small line they provide for comments on the check. Screwing this up will cause you problems.

...The cheapest way is to invest the $.43 and mail the payment directly with a hand written check.

Can i pay other bills from my chase online account?

Are you initiating the credit card payment from the Chase end or the WaMu end? If you are doing it from the WaMu end, you can only make payments "from" WaMu accounts. Not sure what types of accounts payments can be made from other than checking (I have not tried e-paying a bill using my HELOC). I have not paid attention how to set up Chase credit card payments from the Chase end using outside accounts because I pay that directly from free Chase checking. My WaMu account is primarily to autopay my home loan. I split direct-deposit to both accounts.

So how do I use Chase Ultimate Rewards points online?

It says it takes me to a third party site where I can shop for things like normal but it uses points instead of real money, but when I'm ready for checkout, it just looks like a regular checkout, asking for my card number etc. Is this how it works? I don't want to plug in my card info unless I know I'm spending points, not money.
Please only answers from Chase rewards users!

Every time I log on to Chase Online I have to change my password?

The security settings of your browser (or anti-virus software?) may be too strict. Apparently they use a cookie to tell if you have logged in from that computer before, and if not, you have to go through receiving the verification code in e-mail before you can log in. I ran across that when trying different alternative operating systems, so I end up booting to Windows, which I have used before to access Chase, when I need to do anything there.

Another possibility is if your username there is the same as you use on forums or other things that the public can see. There may be bots going around trying password attacks. I think that is what happened at my brokerage account where it would not let me login due to too many failed login attempts. So I have changed my user names to something different than anything public.

What does this mean on Chase online banking: ODP TRANSFER TO CHECKING?

Yup, just like what the other people said. It is OverDraft Protection on your Checking account. Funds (Money) were transferred automatically from your Savings account too your Checking Account to cover a check written and redeemed or the use of a check or debit card that was attached too your checking account because you did not have enough money in the checking account at the moment the purchase was redeemed. It is typically designed to protect against an OverDraft on your account that can not only affect your standing with your bank, your standing in the place you made your purchase, but also your credit score. OverDrafts too your account can be fairly costly endeavors, not only in money but also in your time. Typically they can be anywhere from $25.00 too $50.00. The ODP is typically only $5.00 each time it happens. Then you have to deal with the purchase you made. You have to contact your bank to have them contact the bank of the organization trying to redeem the check and ask them to make a second attempt or if it is too late for that then you have to contact the place that you tried to make the purchase and ask them too redeem it again. They typically will not. You will usually have to use a second form of payment. If you do not do all of this then the place that you purchased the goods has the right to contact the Hot Check division of the police to begin pressing charges. Then you have a whole new ball of wax to deal with. If you get a lot of OverDraft Protection charges over the course of several months you might consider contacting your bank or financial institution and discussing with them the possibility of writing a few of them off to lessen the damage too your finances. It will help to do research before you call to find out why you got the ODP charge to begin with. They do not have to do this so be nice. Talk too a manager if you have to but still be nice.

Find your monthly statement. Call the customer's service line. After you give them your name and your acct no.explain your situation, answer some questions and then they'll give the information.

Can you pay a Bank of America credit card bill online with a Chase checking account?

There are two three ways that you can do it:

1) On Bank of America's website, you can pay your bill online by entering Chase's routing number (you need the correct one for your account; Chase has more than one routing number) and your checking account number.

2) On Chase's website, you can set up online bill pay and use your Chase checking account to pay many types of bills, including a credit card at another bank.

3) (This is not online) You can find your Chase checkbook and a pen, write a check, and mail it to Bank of America (you need to use the correct address for credit card payments; do not mail it to your local branch).

You can find your routing number using your check book. The Chase routing number is present on the lower left side of the check. The first two routing numbers represent the district in which the bank is located. The next two digits indicate the branch of the Federal Reserve Bank district or the center which processes your check. The next four digits are the identification of the bank. The ninth digit is an algorithm which verifies the accuracy of the routing number. You can see the entire list of each state’s routing numbers here:Chase Routing Number - JP Morgan Chase HWTF
