Can I Use My Laptop As A Wireless Router

Can I use my laptop like a wired router?

You certainly can do this. Assuming you have a PC as your laptop, you would go to your connection via Control Panel (this may be "Local Area Connection" or "Wireless Network Connection"), right-click your active connection and select "Properties". You should see a tab for "Sharing" in the "Properties" window that opens. Turn on [internet] Sharing so that your laptop will be able to share its connection with other devices. Then connect your new computer to your laptop with an Ethernet cable and establish a LAN connection on your new computer. If you run into any issues/have trouble figuring out exactly how to use these steps, just Google your issue (e.g: "can not establish LAN connection on PC)
If your laptop is a Mac, go to your Network settings and enable Internet Sharing, and it should have the same effect.

My laptop has windows 8.1 pro

i have 3 questions please

How can i remotely (From a different network or once away from home) access my router.

How can i use my router as a WiFi receiver for a laptop which doesn't have a built in WiFi. Like Router receives WiFi internet through its antenna and transfers it to the laptop through Ethernet cable.

ow can i make my router as a WiFi booster by connecting router to a laptop over Ethernet. Where as laptop is running internet fine already connected to a WiFi device through its internal WiFi adopter. (Like making an adhoc network and setting WiFi as preferred or source ??)

Thanking in anticipation please.

Bought a wireless laptop how can I get internet on it?

You need to buy a wireless router. Your best bet, is to go to your nearest electronics store, and talk to them about it, so that you get a good understanding of how to set one up. You need something like this http://www.bestbuy.com/site/olspage.jsp?skuId=6304082&type=product&id=1074787298555

Just tell them you need a wireless router, tell them about your computer, and your DSL connection. Then you'll be all set.

Can I use my wireless router at a friend's house?

I'm going to stay at a friend's house for a few days and need to be able to use my laptop while I'm there. They don't have wireless internet but they use the same cable modem/carrier that I use. Can I just take my wireless router and plug it into their modem, or would I have to set up a new network and all that mess? And, if I did have to set up a new network, when I come back home will it remember my old settings here or will I have to do it all over again?
