Can you use acrylic paint as nail polish?
Heya! No as long as you put a base coat or a clear coat down first to protect your nails. Acrylic paint is great as it dries faster! And it looks exactly the same as nail polish :) I have seen professional nail artists on you tube use Acrylic paints:) Hope I helped! :)
What do I use for thinning acrylic paint and nail polish?
If you are referring to artist acrylic paint, it can be thinned with water. I keep a misting bottle on my work surface, and mist the paint on my palette periodically. If I take a coffee break, I cover the paint palette (I use a white china plate) with the lid from a skillet to keep it moist and keep cats out of it. As for nail polish - you can buy thinner from any beauty supply store, which would be the safest thing to do, since you are dealing with a chemical substance that might create toxic fumes if you ad-lib.
I want to help get rid of gender stereotypes with nail polish, but everytime I paint my fingernails, I always get overly nervous because of what people might say (especially my dad) and put my hands in my pockets. How can I get over this fear?
I recommend that you follow a desensitization program. Let me provide the steps you can follow.As you can see in the photo above, I am showing you a bottle of Essie nail polish. This particular line of nail colors is well-known for its pastel shades. Movie stars wear this color which is called “Sugar Daddy” (of all things). A cute name for a classy and subtle shade of pink. Brides wear this color on their wedding day.#1 - Use a base coat first to anchor the nail color so it won’t peel until about a week has passed. You can purchase a base coat at any beauty supply store. I like to use a nail strengthener as a base coat, but any base coat (OPI makes a good one) will do. Here’s a quality base coat I recommend:#2 - Wait until your base coat dries completely (about five minutes) and then apply your nail color. Essie Sugar Daddy will dry as a very faint shade of pink - hardly noticeable. It should look like the photo I’ve included above, if not lighter.#3 - You won’t feel self-conscious if nobody can see the color on your nails. The pink is so subtle that hardly anyone will notice that you’re wearing nail polish.#4 - To finish your manicure, use a quick-drying top coat like this one:#5 - Your manicure should look fabulous if you use these products correctly. Believe me, having an amazing looking manicure will boost your confidence in many ways. What will happen if I use nontoxic acrylic paint as nail polish (on top of a layer of gel-based coat)?
Nothing will happen. Most of the beautiful nail art you see online uses acrylic paint. It's great to work with but will wash off easily so use a good top coat and seal the ends.
What happens to chewed-up fingernails if you swallow them?
Unless you make it a habit to chew your fingernails to the quick and swallow the nails every day nothing. Either your stomach will dissolve it - thank you body, or it will pass through your digestive track, again, let us a give a big thanks to our body for being so smart!If you do have this habit to point of self harm I would check with a counselor or psychologist and figure out why you need to do this. Bloody cuticles are generally seen by professionals as a sign of stress. What that stress signifies only you can figure out.I used to suck my thumb, was reprimanded and shamed. Next I chewed my fingernails and was reprimanded and shamed. Now I smoke (gasp) cigarettes and am reprimanded and shamed. I can’t win. So I smoke.
