Can I Wear Polyester Pants With A Cotton Collar Shirt

How Do I Shrink a 65% Polyester and 35% Cotton Shirt?

I have an AF Dress Blues blouse and the sleeves are hanging down my arm by a lot. I also look weird when wearing it with my trousers with shirt stays. How would I shrink my shirt so I don't have to buy a new one, since they cost $54 including tax on Vanguard (I'm in the USAF Auxiliary). I already washed it in hot water with other laundry because my mom noticed I was putting in the blouse so she put the rest of the laundry with it, and then I dried it in extra high heat. Are there any other methods other than to take it to the tailor? Can I boil it in the kitchen then dry it in a drying machine like some people suggested?

Thanks.

Is a polyester shirt better to use as a pillow casing or a cotton shirt?

No!For pillow casing cotton shirt will be a better option, understanding the requirements of pillow-Cotton shirt as a pillow case will absorb the sweat while you are resting.Whereas polyester will give you the discomfort of wetness and sticky around your neck and body.Polyester will be slippery and you would require more frequent adjustment.Cotton will be more comfortable in this case too.Try cotton and Relax!

What do you wear with brown polyester pants?

Usually I choose my combinations from the color palette.I love mixing up things of opposite so my dress will not become complete reflective /dull.I prefer wearing any light color shirt (white/cream ) that goes well with my brown pants.

Is polyester a good material for dress pants, or will it be too hot?

Generally not comfortable or attractive, but there are exceptions.

Microfiber and Tencel type material look much more natural than the old "disco days" polyester. You'll find it in stock at Brooks Brothers and Barney's, among others. Low wrinkling, lightweight, and a more natural drape.

Beyond that type of high quality material, I wouldn't go much beyond a 60/40 blend in cotton or wool slacks. Some of my favorite dress pants in the summer are 60/40 cotton and some of my dressiest woll-based winter pants are 70/30 or so.

Bottom line - buy good quality pants, shirts, and jackets and you won't have to worry as much about what they're made of. If you can't afford the Brothers or Barney, learn a bit about the brands, then check out discount stores and even thrift shops for the good stuff. Hey, I've got an Armani suit that I bought almost new at a thrift shop outside of Boston. Thirty bucks worth of tailoring and I'm walking around in a suit that I otherwise couldn't afford.

How often should I wash a 55% cotton 45% polyester dress?

This really depends on your body chemistry. If you perspire, and or your perspiration has an odor/scent, then of course you want to wash it. Also, I've found that whenever I wear clothes in an environment where there are a lot of people, and especially smoke from cigarettes, then it's a simple fact of life that I need to dry clean or wash an item.

If your dress is sleeveless, and you are generally not active and getting in to dirty environments, then you could probably go a few wearings.
If your dress has sleeves, then you could try wearing the Under-Arm garment protectors, which are made out of cotton (or other absorbent material), I believe. they help prevent sweat from getting on your garment, and therefore would possibly help you go a few wearings before washing.

A "few" to me, means 3-4 times.

Why are dress pants usually made of wool, polyester or rayon?

From Overstock.com —Men’s Dress Pant Fabrics:WoolWool can be lightweight or heavyweight, so there are wool dress pants for all seasons. Wool is a durable fabric, but it does require a bit more care. Wool pants should always be dry cleaned, but you only need to have them cleaned about every five times you wear them. You may want to store them with cedar chips or moth balls. For wool with the softest feel, look for super 120 wool or higher, because this fabric is woven from the longest strands of wool.RayonAn excellent choice for hot weather and warm climates, rayon dress pants have a similar feeling to cotton. Like wool pants, you’ll need to dry clean them, but you don’t need to wash them every time you wear them. This material does crease easily; to keep your pants looking fresh between cleanings, try using a steamer.Polyester BlendsFor added durability and wrinkle-resistance, polyester is often blended with other fibers to create poly blends; this also makes dress pants more affordable. Poly-blend pants can be laundered at home. If you iron your pants yourself, you may want to place a cloth between the pants and the iron, so the iron won’t create a shiny effect.

What temperature do I iron polyester?

I have a uniform that is 100% polyester. I understand that it has to be iron on low temp. But on my iron it gives me the options for cotton linen, silk & synthetic. which one do I use?

Why is polyester not suitable for summer wear?

To put it in layman’s terms, polyester don’t absorb sweat and makes you feel uncomfortable quickly and that is the last thing you would want in summer. Polyester isn’t a “breathable” fabric i.e. it doesn’t allow the wetness (created out of sweat) to evaporate. You can surely look fabric blend like Poly-cotton (make sure that the %age of cotton is at least 40% for comfort). However, with technological advancement, there are 100% poly fabric that absorb sweat and evaporates (All t-shirts made for sports are 100% poly). However, such fabrics are not available for shirts.http://vssurat.com
