Can someone contact me on WhatsApp if they are not in my contacts list?
Yes, definitely anyone can message you on WhatsApp, all they need is your WhatsApp registered number.At this point of time WhatsApp don’t have such privacy options that can control privacy at such level.It is having privacy for status updates, profile pictures, stories but not for who can message you. If I deactivate my WhatsApp account and then reactivate it later, will my contacts still be able to see me in their WhatsApp's contact list?
In order to answer your question to your understanding, let me explain you the procedure as it happens.When you download whatsapp and register your number with it, what happens is your number is registered against your account. You instantly start to see contacts, which are using whatsapp. The one’s not registered on whatsapp are shown with a label ‘Invite’.So now let’s just say that you deactivate your account from whatsapp. At this very moment contacts (or people) having your number will see the label “invite”, as you are not a registered user on whatsapp anymore. Next is when you reactivate your account using the same phone number, you are re-registered on whatsapp, and now the contacts will start seeing you. (Provided you have turned all the privacy settings to public/everyone)So if you want no-one to see your Display picture, status, last seen, just select no one in the privacy options. If you want only few people to be excluded, you have option to block them. When you block, the messages sent by them are not delivered to you. Nor can they see your updates like Display picture, status, last seen.NOTE:contacts not present in your contact list can see your updates when your privacy is set to public/everyone.
