Normally no. You will have to be married for them to do it, because then it is considered "family". They will most likely require a marriage certificate also. Additional information is needed in this situation. Has the at-fault driver’s insurance company paid out to the maximum limits of the policy? Every policy has maximum limits and once those are reached, you would need to go after the driver’s personal assets (this is why an umbrella policy is a good idea).Or did the insurance company’s adjuster make a decision to not provide compensation for certain bills?Her insurance agent should be working on her behalf to get this claim settled and appropriately compensated.

If you get married you can add her to the group policy through your employer. If you are married the group policy must accept her and they must cover her maternity costs. she cannot drive on your policy unless she is named on that policy, however she may be entitled to drive on her own policy (but probably at reduced cover.. ie TPFT). that is something she should check herself (and ideally so should you as if you permit her to drive your car without adequate insurance then you to are guilty in the eyes of the law) before driving.

If your brother is not listed on the homeowners insurance as an insured -- there is no coverage for his property. That's because - the policy defines an insured as the "name insured and spouse". If the policy is in girlfriends name- she's the named insured. Your brother is not a spouse. He never married her. So he does not meet this definition of "insured". The other definition is a person related to the named insured by blood or marriage. Well - brother is not married to any of girlfriends relatives and he's probably not a blood relative of her. So he will not meet this definition. In the future -- to make sure his belongings are covered --he will have to either be added to the homeowners policy as an additional named insured -- or marry the girlfriend. He can also get a "renters" policy for his own personal property (if he does not want to marry her or be on her policy). And to clarify- it's married - as in marrige license- filing taxes as married kind married. Engaged don't cut it either. This applies even if you have a room mate that you are not romantically involved in. So, anyone reading this-- shacking up or just in a room mate situation -- it's going to work the same way. A shack up is just a roommate that sleeps in the same bed as you. It does not warrant any additional privilege. I'm not judging him and her for the shack up. I have no problem with that at all. But - it's a common misconception that in these shack up situations only one person has to have the insurance. P.S. if they drive each others cars - it's a good idea to be listed on each others policies too. Helps prevent coverage problems should you have a wreck.

The procedure is very expensive for those without health insurance. I have health insurance but my girlfriend is not on my policy. Would I be able to use my health insurance in order to pay less or does my girlfriend need to sign up for her own health insurance and then make the visit to the doctor?
