Can Non Us-citizens Join The Military

Can non us citizens join the army?

According to Obama, yes. Even Illegal Immigrants can enlist in Obama's army because if they weren't allowed to do that, it wouldn't be FAIR....lol

But seriously, dont do it man. You would just end up being killed for oil. That's what the war's being fought for, not for democracy nor freedom

Do you have to be a US citizen to join the US Army?

No, you do not have to a be a citizen to join any branch of the military. You DO have to have have a green card and be here legally to join.
You do get priority over people who didnt serve in the military if you choose to become a citizen.
Good luck!

Why would non-citizens enlist in the US military?

I am a current service member and I was born in South Korea. I joined the Army with DOD's pilot program called MAVNI, and got my citizenship on Nov. 2013. The only reason I did it was because I wanted a chance to work on a manned space program. That has always been my dream and that's why I came to the states in the first place. But not everyone would join the U.S. military because of their career, nor would benefit from the MAVNI program, which allows only less than 700 foreign people per year. So you can call my case an outlier...On contrary to popular belief, only non-citizens who are allowed to joined the U.S. military are permanent residents, or green card holders (with exceptions of little numbered above mentioned MAVNI program applicants). Since they are permanent residents, they are already residing in the U.S. So if someone talks about better standard of living in U.S. then their own country, that is probably far from the truth since their established residence is in the United States (and they just have to wait 5 more years to get their citizenship). Non-citizens join the U.S. military for the same reasons such as the rest: 1) To serve their home country, 2) To pay for their college, 3) To use the time as an experience to work for the law enforcement or any other industry, 4) To get a security clearance, and/or 5) To stay in for 20+ years and make it a career.

Can a non-us citizen join the JROTC?

I want to join the Junior ROTC program at my high school next year, but I was wondering whether I’ll be eligible to join or not. I applied for the Deferred Action for Childhood Arrivals (DACA) and my application was recently approved, but I don’t know if I have to be a citizen in order to join or if my status is enough in order to join?
As of right now, I’m still considering whether to join the Military or not once I graduate from high school, but with my status under DACA, will I be able to join the military? I know that if you have a green card, you’re eligible, but I don’t know about DACA.
I would seriously appreciate it if anyone could answer. Thank You.

Do all Mexican citizen males have to join military in Mexico?

In theory, yes. For practical purposes no.

The Mexican Constitution and the Law of the Military Service state that every Mexican must serve in the armed forces. In practice this is not what happens. The law also gives the secretariats of the Defense and Navy the liberty do decide how many conscripts they actually need or can train.

On turning 18, Mexicans participate in a sort of lottery. Those who get selected (conscripts) through this lottery will have to serve the military for one year. The conscripts receive very basic military instruction and usually spend most of their time in social works, such as painting sidewalks, planting trees or teaching underprivileged children.

Can a non US citizen join the american navy?

Yes. U.S. Citizens or Permanent Resident Aliens (people who have an INS I-151/I-551 “Green Card”) may join the U.S. Military. Noncitizens may enlist but cannot re-enlist (extend their enlistment beyond their first term of service) unless they become naturalized U.S. citizens. However, after three years of service, additional residency requirements for citizenship can be waived. The Military does not assist in the immigration naturalization process. I have seen a few of my Soldiers get there Citizenship while serving in the Army. I know of many people in your situation that joined the Military.

Can a non-us citizen with a college degree join the army?

Yes; however, the non-citizen cannot be an officer, nor can the non-citizen hold a security clearance. Not being able to be granted a security clearance is a big limiting factor to the jobs for which the non-citizen may qualify. However, as others have said, there is an expedited path to citizenship available to those who choose to serve, and once naturalized the new citizen can request officer training and commissioning. It is up to your chain of command if they will support such a request, and there is no guarantee or requirement that they will/do. With your unit's support, you are still subject to availability of an open officer billet in your chosen service and in a Branch that you may or may not like. Without such support from your unit, your application is DOA and you must finish your contracted term of enlistment to be able to keep your citizenship. My advice is to read the contract carefully and be sure you can be happy with your chosen vocation IF your chain of command does not support your request for officer training, or if there's some other factor that prevents you from commissioning.
