Can Not Connect To The Internet. Help

Vista computer will not connect to internet HELP!!?

Check your firewall. It's the most likely villain.

To find out what your IP address is (your local computer address on that Vista computer), go to the Command Prompt. At the command prompt, you want to type the following command and hit return:

IPconfig

This will give you the your Local IP for your computer. Write this down.

Next, go into your firewall, into your PERMISSIONS, and enter the RANGE of the IP. The range is the last set of numbers
(typically, a computer will have an IP of 192.168.xx.yyy. You want to set the range for yyy in the number.

Lets say your IPconfig tells you that your local IP is:

192.168.67.101

101 then represents one number in a range of 001 to 256

So the RANGE you will set in the firewall is:

192.168.67.001

192.168.67.256

This means that every IP from 001 to 256 will be allowed through the firewall. The reason why you want to set the range is because the computer can DYNAMICALLYchange the yyy range.

Then, if your ROUTER has a firewall, you want to do the same thing there...enter the same IP range.

This should fix the problem.

Cannot connect through internet, need help badly?

It was when I had just came back home from Boston that my internet connection was acting weird. And then it suddenly shut off on me. Weirdly, I was still connected wirelessly but somehow I couldn't get online. I looked in my connections and it said 'MSN - Device Missing, firewalled, 4255555555.'
My mother called our internet provider and he said that there was nothing wrong with the router, modem and what they were doing, but apparently there is something on my computer that was getting in the way of providing internet access. I rebooted, I deleted MSN, I tried everything. Is there any way to fix this problem?

My laptop is an Acer Aspire One, Atheros AR5BXB63

When I try to pull it up, it says "local area connection" adaptor is not working properly. When I called support I was told that my computer does not have a wireless card, I'd have to go buy it, but nobody else seems to have this problem. Trouble shooting keeps trying to connect to the internet which obviously its can't. Can anybody help me fix this issue?

Mac help, can't connect to the internet...IP address??

You need to go into your system preferences and manually apply an IP address. There are generic IP addresses that you can apply to try to connect to the internet. You will most likely have to adjust the last two numbers of your IP. It could be that there is another person in your dorm that is using the same IP address as you and this is keeping you from being able to connect. Try address 192.168.110.23 and go from there. I had similar problems with my mac awhile ago. I never got the IP! alert, but give this a try.

How can i connect to the internet with my linksys notebook adapter and verizon fios?

If you have connected a second router to the Verizon Router, then that might be your problem. If this is what you have done, then most likely both routers are acting as a DHCP Server, which is causing a conflict. To fix this you'll have to disable the DHCP Server on the Verizon Router. Before doing any of this try connecting to the original router with a LAN Cable and see if you can get connected. If you get Internet Access, then what I have just described is the problem. If it still doesn't work, something might be wrong with your actual internet connection.

When I connect to my Internet router through wireless, it says limited access and I can't connect to the Internet. How do I fix this?

Let's  try to understand the problem first. You are getting message of Limited Access when you are connected to your wi-fi. It means you are connected to your Router but there is no internet or there is internet but your computer isn't able to recieve that. It means your LAN card is working fine. Now we have 3 different steps to fix this issue but before going further just restart your computer. 1. Disconnect your computer from your wifi and re-connect it. If this works then no need to follow other steps. 2.Go in Start menu and search CMD or Command Prompt. A black window will be pop up on your screen. You need to type further commands : ipconfig/release then press enter, ipconfig/renew then press enter, netsh winsock reset then press enter. Restart your computer and ta-da you have fixed your internet connectivity. 90% issue resloved by this step. Still you are facing the same issue then, follow 3rd step3. Restart your Router/gateway router. And follow step 2 before restarting and is it still doesn't work then contact your ISP (Internet Service Provider). At this point there is no issue in your computer. Because you are already connected to your network. It is just your network. I hope it helps. Thanks.

My toshiba laptop won't connect to internet wirelessly need help?

Most new laptops are equipped with all the components necessary to go online wirelessly to account for the increasing popularity of Wi-Fi Internet. If you find that you are not able to connect to any wireless networks on a laptop, take a few basic troubleshooting steps on your own before having the laptop serviced. In all likelihood, you will be able to restore your laptop's wireless functionality and be browsing Wi-Fi Internet in no time.

Difficulty: Easy
Instructions

Things You'll Need
Laptop "Device Manager"
Access to second wireless source
1

A radio button can indicate that your wireless card has been enabled.
Enable the wireless card by pressing the radio button, typically located near the top of the keyboard. Press the radio button until a light illuminates indicating that your wireless card has been enabled and is ready to go online wirelessly. Test your connectivity once again; if there is still no wireless access, it is time to check for a possible issue with your wireless card.

2
Navigate to the computer's device manager by opening the "Start" menu and either clicking "Device Manager" from the "Control Panel" window or right-clicking "My Computer," clicking "Properties," and choosing "Device Manager" from the "Hardware" tab, depending on what version of operating system you use.

3
Look for the wireless card in the Device Manager by clicking the "+" next to "Network Adapters." If you see any item labeled "Wireless Card" or "Wireless Controller," check to see if it has a "?," "X," "!" placed over the name; if it does, you will need to update the software drivers for the wireless card. Contact the manufacturer of the computer for assistance.

4
Attempt to connect a wireless network other than your home network. Make sure you connect to a wireless network that you are legally allowed to use, such as a free public Wi-Fi hotspot, and that you are not illegally connecting to someone else's wireless network. If you can connect to other Wi-Fi networks, the problem is likely isolated to your home network and you will need to troubleshoot that. If you are still can't connect to any Wi-Fi networks after following the steps above, you may need to have the laptop serviced or have its wireless card replaced.
