Can Officers Or Sergants Say Something About Your Civilian Clothes When Your Off Duty

How can you identify a special forces soldier when he's not wearing his uniforms?

Well, of course they won’t say will they. One of my military intelligence friends once told me its not what they tell you but what they don’t tell you that you should pay attention to. Having been in the military myself and known quite a few SAS guys, both having met them casually and in the service I have noticed the following give away features. When you ask them which part of the military they are from rather than saying “I am with the XYZ regiment” they will be vague and say “I am soldier” or “I am a marine” they then they change the subject. They often travel in groups of youngish, guys, who obviously spend a lot of time together. They will all be from the military, but strangely they are often from different parts (e.g. “I am a soldier he’s a marine” they then change the subject.)When you ask them details about the type of skydiving they’ve done in the military (I met one group of SAS guys while skydiving) they might tell you about Jumps that, if you know anything about sky-diving, are clearly not the type that a regular soldier would do, but they never say why they would do jumps like that - they just say it was “training”.But the real give away is the general flagrant disregard for what might be termed regular behavior. Often they are great guys, and I can tell you they are definitely the ones I’d like to hang out with at a party. But they are also the ones most likely to decide that the best course of action at 4am is to go to a (closed) whore house and then to break in by climbing in through a second story window (true story) or other similar such “I clearly don’t give a f***” behavior. Clearly this is trivial stuff as compared to their day jobs, which is probably why it makes sense to them. But any objective observer would say that they are slightly bonkers for doing something like that.

Do you stand at parade rest when speaking to an officer or just NCO's?

You come to the position of attention when speaking to an officer. You remain in the POA until he/she tells you otherwise..An nco requires no parade rest..you speak to them as you are, if sitting you might want to get up but you do not need to go to parade rest to speak to a nco., but remember its not gonna hurt you

Can a staff sgt pull pull rank off duty in civilian clothes?

Why? Only to keep them safe.

Is it okay to have an ear piercing hole when you get sent to basic training?

I'm a male and I have an ear piercing. I'm gonna be sent to basic in two months. I stopped wearing my earring for 3 months and the hole never closed. The hole is not gauge size. It's a normal ear piercing. Am I allowed to have a ear piercing during basic? I'm aware that you're not allowed to have an earring on during duty.

Why can't Marines wear their BDU's or cammies in the civilian world like the Army can?

*Because we aren’t the navy, Air Force or Army. The USMC isn’t nasty. Period. :) *….but for real….My understanding is that the Marines are held to a certain standard that requires uniformity and upholding the Corps’ values.Marines have always had strict standards and guidelines about wearing cammies off base. Some reasons for this include:-pride and uniformity-wearing cammies in public makes the individual a target. There are foreign operatives and weirdos who could potentially cause a Marine great harm. This is easily avoided by not wearing the cammies in public. Before General Conways ban, Marines used to be able to briefly stop off base for things like gas, dry cleaning, etc. Now, Marines are only authorized to stop for emergencies (car accidents, emergency medical situations, breaking down etcetera).Besides being caught and given a page 11, restriction to the barracks, and loss of pay, the likelihood that another Marine will catch you (or multiple Marines) is another factor….and probably the most embarrassing.I was driving by a gas station off of Western Blvd near Lejeune one day and happened to look over and see a marine outside of his Vehicle pumping gas. I couldn’t just let it go, so of course I pulled up next to him to let him know how Nasty he was making my Corps look. I wasn’t even able to get near him before there was a swarm of other Marines heading towards him. Since things have changed since I got out I’m sure this would now be considered “hazing,” but Marines police their own.See ALMAR 035/07 for more info!WEAR OF THE MARINE CORPS COMBAT UTILITY UNIFORMHope this helps, Devil!

Do u stand at parade rest while wearing civilian attire?

its not required but to show respect to your higher i would. if your csm came up to say at wal-mart and said hi i wouldn't. if you see him on base i would. just a way to show you respect his rank and position. most of them will say relax

Do military personnel wear ID tags while off duty?

yes by army regulations they are supposed to at all times, even when wearing civilian clothing in your off time. of course this only applies to active duty personnel and not the reserves or national guard. they wear theirs only when weekend drill occurs. i've been both active and national guard, and what i state is true.
