Can Police See Texts For A Background Check

Do background checkers associated with the FBI/CIA read text messages?

The only way they could read your text messages is if you gave them your phone and they read those messages saved in your phone. Phone companies do not save every text sent on their network, and background checks done by the FBI/CIA are only for prior convictions or other involvement with law enforcement. if you sent some petty texts about weed or something don't worry about it man, they wont know about it.

Police background check?

The only real answer is going to come from the agency that is hiring you. I'm sure there is a state, if not federal standard that law enforcement has to meet with regard to background checks. You could go to the State of NY government website and search for the background check requirements.

You could also call your State Representative and ask what is covered and they can help you find that information.

What does the Houston Police pre employment background investigation consist of?

I applied to the Houston Police Dept. in Houston, Texas and I was told by a friend who is a police lieutenant of the dept and he said that a friend of his came across my facebook page where it has an edited picture of me looking like a police officer. He said that could taken as impersonating a cop and also the background investigation might consist of looking at my facebook, twitter, myspace etc..God knows what. Do you think the police dept background investigation might check your facebook? or cell phone text messages? If that so, why doesn't it say so? What all there is in a Houston Police background investigation for police officer trainee pre employment? I don't want to ruin my background check.

For a police background check, can they check your text messages?

Some police departments do more of a background check on applicants than others. However, they wouldn't normally ask to check your text messages. They might look at your Facebook page. When police departments are hiring, they usually have many qualified applicants for a relatively small number of openings. They usually have the luxury of being able to be very selective about who they hire. Any red flags can hurt your chances of getting hired. Getting police officer jobs is becoming more and more competitive. Do whatever you can to make yourself the best candidate that you can.

Can a police officer track text messages? How can they be tracked?

As contrary to public believe police don't have magic software or open line access to the mobile provider data baseThe law is strict when it comes to personal privacyEvery country has its own procedures.1 — Tracking a phone number (knowing its location at a certain time (no real time tracking ),knowing it's owner ,new numbers put in it ,see phone logs and text logs with no content (like message from/ to but without seeing the actual message or having access to the vocal of a phone callAll those above are usually done with an Order from the police department to the respective mobile provider both keep archives of the said order and the results sent by the mobile provider ,this is used usually to track stolen phones ,missing people ,phone used in a crime ECT this doesn't need any intervention from the DA's office any Police officer can make such order (officer not agent )2 — spying on calls or getting text messages or live location trackingThis is extreme this is not a daily thing ,first you need a warrant from the DA to ask the mobile provider to give you such information and to get a warrant you need strong evidence and detailed report of your current investigation and what this results can be used to, the DA keeps the full right to give such warrant or notOnce obtained the Mobile provider grants the police access to the information they needAgain every country is different but citizen privacy is taken really seriously ,getting information from illegal sources might render the whole investigation nullified (don't know the real world in English ,but this means any criminals involved won't have any charges against them )

Can the police track and tap my cell phone?

I'm a victim of an assault case but some of the cops do not completely believe my story that I do not know the assailant since assaults by strangers are rare.

Can the police track me using my cellphone, have it tapped, read all subsequent texts and listen to all calls made? I recently gave the police my cellphone to download an unknown/blocked number so that they can find the actual number or something. They said that would be all. My bf told me that the police plays dirty though and they probably have it tapped and tracked. He also noticed that everywhere we went yesterday, there were cops all around, and he felt followed, but I thought he was just being paranoid.

Can the police trace texts phone an app ON your phone?

Never doubt what the police can do. Now, there is a difference between what they can do, and why they will take the time to do. If you really did something illegal (think planning a terrorist operation) they could trace your texts back through the server thy handles the texts, regardless of the fake number you use. Then, they could trace the IP used to access the server. So don't do anything illegal!

Are police allowed to read text messages from another people? Why or why not?

Your question is a bit vague, so I’ll answer my various interpretations of you question. Can police can get text messages from your phone carrier? The answer to that is no, even with a warrant, because (most) carriers can’t even read their clients’ text messages. If you’re the victim of a crime and there is evidence of that crime in a text from someone else, then the victim can show those texts to the police and those texts can be used as evidence. There’s no expectation of privacy if one of the parties to the conversation want to share content. If you’re suspected of a crime and there may be evidence of that crime on your phone, a warrant is needed if you do not consent to have your phone examined. Can we pull your text messages out of thin air and read them with some kind of sophisticated equipment? Only on TV shows like Person of Interest. If anyone found a way to read my text messages, they’d be bored to tears.I hope one of these answered your question.

Can police really see/monitor your text messages as they come real-time in a course of an active situation without a prior subpoena/warrant like in the TV shows?

There is a provision for getting emergency access to a wireless device account without a subpoena, although each carrier has discretion as to whether, how fast, and if they will respond at all to the request. I don’t have any personal experience with this, but I was part of a working/research group that wrote a manual for these types of investigations some years back.I doubt that the process is as fast or as slick as it is portrayed in the movies or on TV, because almost nothing is. Rather than having each text appear on some cop’s laptop or desktop computer as they are sent, it wouldn’t surprise me to find that a technician at the wireless provider’s office was monitoring the account and reading the output to the investigator over the phone. This procedure would be used only in a crash emergency, such as with a person who had expressed immediate suicidal or homicidal plans. After the fact, the wireless carrier would want to review the circumstances and/or have a court do the same, to ensure that the procedure wasn’t being abused.Ultimately, anything you send over a wired or wireless connection can probably be intercepted by someone.
