Can President Obama Fly A Plane

Are the US president and vice president allowed to fly on the same plane?

There is no specific law that prevents it, but it is general policy that the President and VP do not travel together — at least not in the same vehicle.Although it’s mostly for administrative reasons (the VP has a busy schedule, too), the President and VP are not generally kept in close proximity to each other for extended periods of time for reasons of security and continuity of government.

Why is President Obama allowed to use Air Force One on the campaign trail with Hillary and who pays for it?

No one outside of government knows. The formula for pro-rating use of Air Force One has been kept secret for over 40 years. The taxpayers are paying some of the bill, but how much is unclear. The Charlotte trip is very unusual because the only reason the President is going there is to campaign for Hillary. Clinton and Bush campaigned for Presidential candidates only rarely, and apparently always combined it with other government business.Air Force One costs about $206,000 an hour to operate. I don’t know if expenses like Air Force Security inspecting the fuel that will be taken on in Charlotte 3 days before the plane gets there and securing the tanks until after the plane leaves are included in that number. And I don’t know if that cost is for every hour, including time before departure, time in the air, time on the ground, and time after it returns, or just flight time. When Obama was campaigning in 2012, his campaign reimbursed the government a pro-rated share based on the price of renting an equivalent plane. You or I could rent a 747–400 for $21,000 per flying hour. Based on that it would seem that we’re picking up at least 90% of the tab. But again, it isn’t clear. There’s also the cost of transporting the Presidential limo to Charlotte and back, the cost of securing the places where the President will speak, the cost of securing the area around the airport and the roads he’ll take to get back and forth, and probably a lot more I’m missing. And then there is the hidden, and massive, cost to everyone in the Charlotte area who will be stuck in a traffic nightmare from about half an hour before the President arrives until some hours after he leaves. I’ve been through that, and it’s no fun at all. 20 minute trips that last over 3 hours because of roadblocks. The justification for all of this is the fact that the President has to travel on Air Force One, and has to be protected everywhere he goes. To me that means the President can’t campaign unless all costs are being picked up by the campaign. But I’ve been told I’m unreasonable.Clinton to ride Air Force 1; Trump asks who paysPrivate Jet Charter | Boeing 747-400 | PrivateFly USA

Will President Obama ever be able to fly commercially again?

“Will President Obama ever be able to fly commercially again?”Absolutely, unless he wants to drive, walk, take the train, sail, whatever.Ex-presidents lose the use of military aircraft when they leave office, unless they are performing some specific function for the U.S. government where flying commercial would be impractical. They can also ride along if they are accompanying someone who has the use of military aircraft. (There were photos during the 2016 campaign of a slightly peeved President Obama waiting for former President Bill Clinton who was talking up everyone he was encountering on the way to the aircraft.)Not all U.S. government officials have the use of government aircraft. While cabinet members do, as do the spouses of the presidents and vice-presidents, senators and congressmen ordinarily do not. They do if they are performing in some specific official capacity for the government. For example, the annual shopping trips… excuse me… I mean the CODELS, Congressional Delegations, to the Far East, just prior to the winter holidays, where Senators and/or Congressmen will travel to some place like Thailand to speak with some person or other about the growth rate of bamboo during the specific time frame of 1400 and 1405 on 1 May during leap years. Five seconds later, they're out the door to do whatever they really came to the country for on the U.S. taxpayers’ dime. (Exaggeration deliberate to make a point about the travel for personal reasons under official cover.) Sometimes, the CODELS are to the Caribbean in the middle of winter. Spouses will accompany. (At least they used to.)Just something to think about the next time you hear about a CODEL to wherever.

When the former President is flown home on the Presidential Plane, what is its Call Sign?

Some of this is true, some of it is not. I'm an air traffic controller, so allow me to shed a little light on this, if I may.

Since G.W. took off after Obama was sworn in, he was no longer President, as some have noted. As this is the case, the tail number of the Boeing (since he still flew in the actual plane that is normally Air Force One) is 28000. Hence, SAM 28000, or Special Air Mission 28000. We, as controllers, would refer to it as SAM 28000.

If, say, he was still President, since it is flown by an Air Force general, it would be called Air Force One. If it were a Coast Guard plane, it would be called Coast Guard One, and the same with Marines and Navy. It's respective of which branch he flies with. If he was flying a civilian plane, it would be called Executive One. The same is true of the Vice President, except replacing One with Two. Also, if the President's or Vice President's family is on board, we automatically designate the plane Foxtrot One or Two, providing the President or Vice President are not on board with them.

Long winded, but I hope this clarifies.

Two planes A and B can each fly through still air at 650 mph.?

Rate with the wind = 650+100 = 750 mph
Rate against the wind = 650-100 = 550 mph
The distance is proportional to the rate, and the two planes fly with the same time for 5000-550 = 4450 miles
750/(750+550) of 4450
= 2567.308 miles

Why is Barack Obama's flag backwards on his plane?

If it were a real flag and the plane were moving, which way do you think it would be facing?

If Air Force One was going to crash, would the President be able to evacuate and make it to the ground safely?

While the US Secret Service and the pilots and maintenance staff of Air Force One (current and former) will likely never tell, the answer is probably "No".This question seems to be asking if the escape pod made famous in the aptly-titled film Air Force One exists. The answer is again, probably "No."Why?The escape pod would have to be tested - Since no photo of such a test seems to exist (Google Image search shows nothing) it's likely because there isn't such a device. An escape pod would be dangerous in and of itself - A part of an airplane that can detach in flight would likely fail and cause its own problems. Such a failure could actually cause the disaster it was constructed to prevent. The failure of the pod would be the last time that it was used - If the pod failed to perform when used, it would be removed from service. Why construct something whose failure would create more problems than it was built to solve? The pod would have to be fairly large - The POTUS landing unsecured would itself be a disaster. Using the pod over a hostile nation would also cause the problems that the pod was built to prevent, so the pod would have to be large enough to accommodate a security person to guard the POTUS.Air Force One and its backup are probably the best maintained aircraft on the planet. That fact, along with the skill of its pilots, its on board defensive systems and the fact that it would probably not fly in bad weather reduce the already remote chance that an incident terrible enough to bring down would occur.
