Can Prilosec Make You Want To Eat And Eat And Eat And Eat

Can prilosec make you gain weight?

Let me elaborate. I eat better then I have and my stomach is swelling and I am experiencing bleeding frequently when I use the restroom. I have greatly improved my eating habits since using the medication and it is the only medication I am on. I have only noticed this swelling since then, and I do plan on seeing a doctor but I don';t have insurance anymore so I was wondering if anyone had insides on here.

Prilosec while pregnant..anybody take this?

I had acid reflux prior to my pregnancy and used Prilosc OTC the whole time. My doctor said it was perfectly safe. I actually felt lucky that I already used it because I didn't experience any heartburn like some other woman do.

If a dog eats prilosec will it harm them?

How to take prilosec "30 minutes before breakfast"?

I'm taking prilosec, and it says to take it 30 minutes before breakfast. I'm not totally sure what they are getting at there, but I see three possibilities:

1. Do not eat anything for at least 30 minutes after taking the pill. You could wait much longer than 30 minutes, or skip breakfast entirely, as long as you keep the stomach empty for at least 30 minutes.

2. Eat something within 30 minutes. Don't keep your stomach empty after taking the pill; get food on it in 30 minutes or less. For example, you could take the pill right as you start eating breakfast.

3. Eat something exactly 30 minutes after you take the pill. No earlier, no later. A meal needs to drop on that pill after 30 minutes of it hanging out alone.

So does anyone know which it is?

Why do I get bloated after taking Prilosec and eating food?

Thank you for your question.Chris Kresser and many other commentators believe GERD is caused by low, not high, stomach acid. What Everybody Ought To Know (But Doesn’t) About Heartburn & GERD(as quoted)“Long-term use of Prilosec, one of the most potent acid suppressing drugs, reduces the secretion of hydrochloric acid (HCL) in the stomach to near zero. In one trial, 30 people with GERD were treated with a high dose of Prilosec (40g/day) for at least 3 months. 11 of the 30 Prilosec-treated people had developed significant bacterial overgrowth, compared with only one of the ten people in the control group.”Just click on the successive links and he gives a good description on how this works. The main points are:stomach acid decreases with age; GERD increases with ageif high (not low) stomach acid causes GERD you’d expect to see a lot of younger people with GERD but this doesn’t happenthe lower esophageal sphincter (LES) is allowing acid through to the esophagus due to abdominal pressure. But what is causing this pressure?Carbohydrate malabsorption can cause GERD through bacterial overgrowth. Bacteria metabolise and ferment carbohydrates, the byproduct of which is gas. It is the gas that builds up in the abdomen, causing pressure against the LES and forcing stomach acid into the esophagus. GERD has a strong correlation with SIBO and IBS.It’s a vicious cycle. Low stomach acid causes the carbohydrate malabsorption (due to decreased pancreatic enzymes) which encourages even more bacterial growth, as there are more and more unabsorbed carbs available for fermentation. Also overeating can dilute stomach acid. Overeating is believed to be a major cause of GERD as well.I cured my GERD symptoms without drugs; by not overeating and by eating dinner earlier at night and through a Paleo diet.Low carb is a confusing term. Carbs are chains of glucose, but these include vegetables, which are good for you. When most people say low carb they probably mean no grains, low starch and low FODMAP, the highly fermentable carbs. Salads and low FODMAP vegetables are low in fermentables, so maybe try eating these instead.

Whats the worst thing that can happen if you take 2 Prilosec pills 12 hours apart if only 1 is the directions?

I keep getting things in the mail that say the purple pill kills more
people in nursing homes. They always have another remedy in a book you can buy.

I found out that by eating less and paying attention to what I eat,
I got rid of a daily heartburn problem. For years I didn't eat butter or oleo
on bread, but I think portion control was more important.

Now, if I eat big meals I might need an occasional antacid but rarely.

Are you required to eat after taking Prilosec/Omeprazole?

My grandpa has a prescription for Omeprazole (Prilosec) 40 mg from a few months ago and the doctor told him to take it for a couple weeks and then stop, and if the symptoms came back that he needed to keep taking it. Now the symptoms are back and he's been feeling bad for a couple of weeks and really sick for the last few days (Nausea, feeling like he's going to have diarrhea but he never actually does, and just general stomach pain) It's gotten worse over the last few days and it's getting to where he can't stand it anymore. He doesn't feel he needs to go to the emergency room or doctor; he's just miserable. So I have a few questions:

1.) Do you have to eat after taking Prilosec?
The bottle says to take it at least 60 minutes before a meal, but does that mean he has to eat? He's really nauseated and doesn't want to eat. He ate breakfast and lunch, but not dinner. He hasn't been eating foods that cause heartburn so that's not the problem. If he does have to eat, how much? Would a cookie or a few crackers be enough or does he have to eat a whole meal?

2.) I take a PPI (Nexium) and I have taken Prilosec, Prevacid, and other medications from that group. I know that for me, they work better if I take them first thing when I wake up in the morning, 30 minutes before breakfast. I know the bottle says to only take one pill a day, but would it hurt him to take a pill tonight before bed (around 10:00 pm) and then again before breakfast tomorrow, or should he wait to take it until tomorrow morning? I just don't want him to be miserable any longer so if it could start working tonight that would be great, because I know that it usually takes a couple of days to start working.

3.) Is there anything I can do for him or he can take to feel better now? I know he doesn't want to, but should I just try to talk him in to going to the ER so he can have a GI cocktail or something?

4.) Any other tips/suggestions are greatly appreciated! Thank you for your help.

Have you ever taken Prilosec for heartburn and find it makes you need to poop more often and sometimes at the?

most inconvenient times you find yourself needing to go. It's like after you eat you can feel your stomach moving around and you don't trust your anal sphincter when you go out, so you try to stay at home so your just a few feet away from the toilet. LOL as it's not uncommon to have an unexpected loose stool. Have you ever felt like this from Prilosec? What helped you with this problem?

PLEASE HELP My dog ate 1 prilosec pill she weights around 10-12 pounds and is a could she die from this HELP?

I would give your vet a call. Prilosec is sometimes prescribed for dogs but I have no idea of the dosage for a dog. Your vet will be able to give you the information.
