Can second hand smoke and smoking cause enlarged adenoids?
Seems like it for me. I never had a problem with having to constantly clear my throat during hot weather or ever until I moved into my uncles apartment 20 months ago. Seems like the second hand smoke and mold is making it worse. Last summer for June and July everytime I are I choked and gagged and was just horrible. I got a little already this year and just hoping I get out of here soon.

Can a smoker get rejected in the SSB medical?
The only thing that matters is that your med tests be A-ok, and that you clear the obstacles/excercises. And not wheezing and panting … it’s easy to tell a chain smoking wreck’s way of finishing a run, from that of an athlete. Secret ! Even the fact that you look longingly at the paan-shop, or carry a pack, will be noted. You have to be an athlete at heart, better than a professional one, if you want to clear the board, train at a mil school, go to war, win the fµckin’ day , and come home alive. We want someone who is seeking and fighting for control over his own self and life. A smoker is a sign of a stupid consumer, an already lost battle.In practical wisdom, a fag a week, or socially, is always acceptable. There’s a whole economy to this, you’ll learn , in the army. Of conserving strength, wastage and use of breath and when or when not to let yourself go, to relax, to be on overdrive, to give up control and to snap to attack mode. Smoking in this age, and it’s effects will dull the edge you’re going to need in the military.

They think that Sleep apnoea is genetic as it tends to run in families, although they haven't yet identified the genes that cause it. Snoring is a symptom of Sleep apnoea. So yes it probably is genetic.
