Does skipping meals cause stomach/peptic ulcer?

I am not a physician. This answer is not to be taken as medical advice. See a physician in person for a diagnosis and medical advice. From my understanding, stomach acid doesn’t cause ulcers. Stomach ulcers are caused by a species of bacteria called H. Pylori. This drill shaped bacteria eats through your stomach lining and makes holes in your stomach. These holes are ulcers. Excess acid from skipping a meal doesn’t hurt your stomach. This bacteria’s presence can increase the production of gastrin, which in turn can increase the amount of stomach acid produced.NSAIDS like ibuprofen and aspirin also irritate your stomach and can cause ulcers. Stress as well as large amounts of spices and alcohol in your diet also can cause ulcers.

Can you ulcers from skipping meals?

I'm on the one-meal- a day diet and so far it's working great, I drink coke zero and water to keep my stomach from growling (and it never does) sometimes i drink a 20oz redbull in the morning & then once I get home from school I eat a hardy dinner.
Someone told me this can lead to ulcers & lately my stomach tends to hurt a little after eating but it's not bad pain(nothing like cramps)
I don't get naucious but lately I noticed I'm having trouble remembering things and concentration is difficult...
I've been on this diet for about 2 months but I usually break it on the weekends.
Can my issues be caused by an ulcer?
Thanks!

Is it bad to skip meals ???(sometimes i skip a meal or two becuase i dont have time to eat)?

it depends if you are becoming aneroxic then eat or you'll be in trouble. if you miss one or two meals a week then its fine but if you miss too much then you could be putting your health in danger.

How bad is it to skip meals when you have gastritis?

When you have gastritis, eating a meal can sometimes make it feel worse but, skipping a meal can do the same. You need to eat little and often, also keeping an eye on what foods may upset your stomach. Spicy food can make it worse, also fried food. The best advise that was given to me, (because I also suffer from gastritis) was to avoid certain foods, drink plenty of water, (fizzy drinks also can irritate it),also taking medication that was prescribed by my doctor has helped and, don't skip meals.

Stomach pains, hard time eating, could I have accidentally become anorexic?

I've never been a big eater but for some reason lately I've slowly lost my appetite, so much that now it has become difficult to make myself eat. I have stomach pains a lot of the time but if i can manage to force myself to eat I do feel better. If I wait too long to eat sometimes the pain can make me sick and its hard to continue with my daily tasks. I've also thrown up a few times after feeling that way. I also suffer from depression/anxiety issues and when i'm feeling down I lose all desire to eat, i'm pretty sure that's how this all started... But yeah, i'm not sure how to overcome this issue but any advice or help would be very much appreciated, thank you.

Does lack of food cause diarrhea?

Hi,

The cause of diarrhea are

Diarrhoea may be caused by a temporary problem, like an infection, or a chronic problem, like an intestinal disease. A few of the more common causes of diarrhoea are bacterial infections. Several types of bacteria, consumed through contaminated food or water, can cause diarrhoea. Common types include Campylobacter, Salmonella, Shigella, and Escherichia coli.

Viral infections: Many viruses cause diarrhoea, including rotavirus, Norwalk virus, cytomegalovirus, herpes simplex virus, and viral hepatitis.

Food intolerances: Some people are unable to digest a component of food, such as lactose, the sugar found in milk.

Parasites can enter the body through food or water and settle in the digestive system. Parasites that cause diarrhoea include Giardia lamblia, Entamoeba histolytica, and Cryptosporidium.

Reaction to medicines, such as antibiotics, blood pressure medications, and antacids containing magnesium.

Intestinal diseases, like inflammatory bowel disease or coeliac disease.

Functional bowel disorders, such as irritable bowel syndrome, in which the intestines do not work normally.

Some people develop diarrhoea after stomach surgery or removal of the gallbladder. The reason may be a change in how quickly food moves through the digestive system after stomach surgery or an increase in bile in the colon that can occur after gallbladder surgery.

In many cases, the cause of diarrhoea cannot be found. As long as diarrhoea goes away on its own, an extensive search for the cause is not usually necessary.

People who visit foreign countries are at risk for traveller’s diarrhoea, which is caused by eating food or drinking water contaminated with bacteria, viruses, or, sometimes, parasites. Traveller's diarrhoea is a particular problem for people visiting developing countries

I've been skipping lunch for a few years and often experience bloated stomach and (sometimes) stomach pain around 3-4pm. What caused this problem?

Probably an ulcer or stomac (gastric) ulcer. I am not very sure but I was once like you and it was terribly painful, regretting every single part of skipping lunch. As said by my doctor, the ulcer is a sort of like acid which process and melts away food on the time where we have been eating all our lives. Since a child, we always eat lunch at our lunch time (11AM-2PM) right? So ulcer becomes the stomach’s help to digest the food you intake at lunch. But since you have been skipping now, the ulcer has nothing to melt but your very own stomach. So better give it something to eat. If you are too busy to eat, have a biscuit or a snack on your table to eat at lunch. Because it could become worse and yes, the pain could make a grown man crumble to his knees. And lastly, go see a doctor. They could provide you better medication than what the internet says. This is purely by experience, it could be something else.
