Can Smoking Weed Trigger Migraines

Does smoking weed help a chronic migraine?

Fool on the Hill is right. You ought to start keeping a headache journal (or download am app like Migraine Buddy) so you can identify what triggers your migraines. I knew my triggers were caffeine and sugar, but I didn't realize that skipping meals would do it also. My neurologist also prescribed an SSRI and that has helped a lot. (Migraines have been linked to low levels of serotonin in the brain.)

Even if it does, you'll never know it. Lot of decisions taken in our daily lives are driven by our subconscious mind which we are not aware of. But smoking marijuana definitely makes your brain more curious, creative and focused. If you are smoking a good stuff :)

It's possible, as everyone can react to it differently, though it's typically used to treat migraines.Medical marijuana has been shown to reduce the frequency and severity of migraine headaches. A 2009 observational study showed a man with a cluster headache fully relieve his symptoms within five minutes of smoking marijuana. Clinical trials in this field are unfortunately lacking, but observational studies have found that migraine patients benefit heavily from cannabinoids as they interact with serotonin. A 2016 study found that CBD decreased the frequency of migraine headaches and appeared to block the onset of further headaches, and a 2017 study found that the majority of people taking medical marijuana for their migraines no longer needed other medications.

Smoking weed increases your heart rate, blood pressure, and can make you feel lightheaded if you’re holding the smoke in for too long, or continuously smoking after having a coughing fit from the smoke irritating the cilia in your lungs. People have gotten headaches from the scent, stress, or just having a bad smoke session with people who ruin their high by arguing and causing drama. A lot of my friends believe that the only way to smoke is by taking hits “to the dome”. This basically means continuously taking large hits and inhaling all the smoke ’til THC floods through your pleura, and circulates all throughout your body, eventually reaching your head (dome)I wouldn’t advise this, however. It’s very painful, has a possibility of messing up the air sacs and cilia inside your lungs, and doesn’t give you enough time to breathe for your blood to oxygenate. Essentially causing you to feel lightheaded because of the drop of oxygen. Hope this helps!Cheers.-Daniel

Does marijuana help with migraines?

well ive never herd that it does. u get a migraine because the body is stressed and releases noradrenaline and adrenaline to stop the body from getting in a flight or fight situation. what i strongly recommend is that u try taking beta blockers for example proprnolol and also try taking some magnesium supplements. this will work better than marrujanna.

try to keep a trigger dairy. on this write what the trigger for ur migraine was ie, light, sound. and also comment on what u ate on that day and also the day before. food plays a major role in finding out what ur triggers are. remove foods that u feel are triggering off ur migraines. ie, cheese, dairy products, chocolate, coffie. but dont just stop eating a whole food group make sure that it is a trigger.

Does smoking weed give you a headache?

First of all.Its not that bad.Its medicine after all.Not illegal in all places. And people who use it for medication are disgusted by stupid people who only listen to TV and get their fake facts there.
No,it does not relate to cigarettes in any way..
3 times worst is what you heard from the government.
Its not actually 3 times worst because if it was all the people who were smoking weed for the past 10-20 years would be having lung cancer right now.and weed helps lung cancer. It does not create it either. You people are so stupid and i'm only 14 years old.Sad how you people are so ignorant.Weed isn't close to being as bad as tobacco.Marijuana has over 100 substances...but none hurt you.THC decreases brain cells when your 'high' then when your sober they come back up.Another lie, yet,no one has heard about it.
And about your question:Yes,weed can create Migraine Headaches...i had 5 migraines in a row..but it would get so bad that i wouldn't even think of getting on and asking a question i would literally make it worst...way worst.Maybe you smoked too much from a bong..and its your first time..so it was a hard hit for you.Or maybe you smoked a stem or seed.
Depending on weed quality too,if you have weak weed with a lot of stems and seeds, and you smoke too much of it,you might get a headache too..maybe not a migraine, but a headache.

Cure? no.It works about as well as a triptain. A little better in some cases. According to the EU Neurological Assoc.I have not tried it myself, but I might. Recreational use is newly legal in my state So….The upside I would think is side effects. Almost everyone gets sleepy and hungry on marijuana where are everyone is different on a triptain. Though there are those poor souls that get really paranoid on marijuana.

Brain scans of nearly 1,000 past and present marijuana users revealed abnormally low blood flow throughout their brains, compared with a smaller control group of 92 people who'd never used pot.“The differences were astonishing," said lead researcher Dr. Daniel AmenBlood flow was lowest in the hippocampus of marijuana users, which Amen found most troubling. The researchers found they could reliably distinguish the brains of marijuana users by checking blood flow to the hippocampus. Marijuana use is believed to interfere with memory formation by inhibiting activity in the hippocampus, which is the brain's key memory and learning center. This was a copy and pasted article.

Yes.A few years back, my migraines were getting progressively worse. I'd just gotten to the point where they'd regularly cause vomiting.During my worst migraine to date, I had thrown up everything in my stomach and then couldn't stop dry-heaving. I was in bed, head under the covers, crying, in pain, knowing I'd never be able to go to sleep for all the retching, wondering how I could possibly get to the doctor in the shape I was in.In desperation, I checked the internet to see if this would work. Then I smoked a bowl. I was up, walking and talking, in ten minutes.I hadn't completely bought into the concept of medical marijuana before this happened. It truly is a miracle drug.Since then, I've never had a bad migraine. Whenever I feel one coming on, I smoke and then stay in a dark, quiet, peaceful place until I can sleep. It works perfectly. There was one recent exception. For whatever reason, I didn't smoke when a headache started, and it progressed to nauseating, crippling waves of pain. Then I realized I should smoke. In a few minutes, the waves were gone, and I just had a headache. That's an ABAB test. It works.
