Can Someone Aged 18 Give Igcse In Edexcel

Is there an upper age limit for the IGCSE, O levels, AS levels and A levels as a private candidate?

First of all, no there isn’t any upper age limit for the aforementioned education systems. British Council doesn’t any strict age restrictions on these examinations. However, it is still recommended that you take your O level/IGCSE examinations during the age of 14 to 17 years, AS levels the following year, and lastly A level examinations next year, when you are 16–19 years old.During my O Level years, I knew people who were at the age to have gone to university for their Bachelors, but still seemingly were stuck with the rest of the sixteen year olds taking the examinations. They didn’t face any sort of problems, so don’t worry, you’ll be fine.

What after class X IGCSE in India?

After class X (IGCSE), the child can continue with A-levels, which is an equivalent to 12th in India. A-level examinations are conducted by CIE itself. The child can also switch to the state board if he/she wants (atleast in Maharashtra, they can) for giving 12th grade exams. As you mentioned, your child is just 3 and honestly, it doesn't matter where he/she goes now for studying. You can easily change your child's education board till 6th grade. Your child will be easily able to switch. It is not recommended to switch after 6th because then, the syllabus and methodology changes which a child may find difficult to adjust to. Also, one disadvantage international students have is that for college admissions, state board just takes into account best 5 subjects' marks while for Igcse students, all the subjects are counted, which reduces the overall percentage (as the maximum marks increases, chances of getting a high percentage reduces). So, for example, Venkatesh (a state board student) gets 645 out of 700.English- 82Hindi- 91Chemistry- 93Physics- 94Biology- 89Mathematics- 99Computers- 97The best 5 subject marks will be for English (mandatory), Mathematics, Computers, Physics, Chemistry. The total will be 465/500 which is 93%.Gaurav, an IGCSE student gets the same marks in all subjects. There will be no best of 5 facility for him. Thus, he'll get 92.1% only, a difference of 0.9% which can affect a lot because of the immense competition. If the child continues with A levels though, then he'll not face any problems because then the percentage doesn't matter much because not many people go for A-levels and therefore, there isn't much competition for entry into colleges. UK and American High school equivalent ........?

O Levels is equivalent to American High School Diploma. Most American Universities wants 5 O levels at grade A - C . Having A Levels will grant you first year Universities credits I like AP ) Some will ask you to take SAT some do not need you to take SAT.

For British student or British curriculum students who wants to enter US Universities they need 5 GCE O Levels or 5 GCSE/IGCSE at Grade A - C .

GCE A Levels is like AP and with good A Levels you can get up to a year off depending on subjects in US and Canada.

Alot of 17 years old with 5 O Levels went to US for their 4 year American Bachelors

.In Britain you enter Universities at age 17/18 and completed your 3 Years BS/BA Honours ( specializations) by age 20/21

In US you enter at age 19 and graduated at 22/24

Note: Both US and British qualifications are recognized in both countries . American Qualifications gives you more space and slightly more time to think about what you really want to study and they have "life" learning whatever that means. Both are equally good!

IGCSE or CBSE? Which syllabus has better future prospects?

Hari om, you are asking a question as to: “IGCSE or CBSE? Which syllabus has better prospects?”. Hari om.These two are two incomparable identities. If your child has to achieve something in India, you go for CBSE.If you are thinking of relocating at any time during the schooling years of your child, you should not take CBSE.Of course, IGCSE is globally accepted through out including in India, however it will cast extra burden on your child .And in case your child has to remain in India for degree level studies , your child will have a tough time in catering and adapting quickly to the Indian needs of the professional competative exams like IIT JEE,EAM CET, AIIMS , NEET, JIPMER, AFMC, KVPY, etc,.Not that your child can't do it.But, your child has to unnecessarily swim counter to the current. So, why burden your child with this avoidable extra burden? So, my personal advice is go for IGCSE only if you are uncertain about your position with regard to relocation. However, browse through the following link to know more information about the options available and you can take a decision based on your own personal discretion ;CBSE vs IGCSE vs CISE Vs IB – A Brief Comparison Among the Boards | Youth Ki AwaazHari om.
