Can Someone Clever People Answer These Maths Questions For Me

Math help someone LINEAR EQUATIONS? smart People please?

alrighty. here's how we do it in algebra I.

5-4x=-7
-5....=-5
..-4x=-5-7
..-4x=-12
./-4..=/-4
.....x=3

When finding x, you need to get everything away from x... right?
So when you take off the 5, you need to do the opposite to make it go away.
I don't mess with the negatives on the -4 because it's connected to the x.
I subtracted 5, because 5+(-5)=0. so that takes that away
But i need to make it equal. So i do the same to the other side.
so -7-5=-12. because the negative, stays a negative in addition.
now your left with -4x=-12. so you divide both sides by -4 because that's what's connected to the x by multiplication. that's why they're connected. so you divide because you always to the opposite.
so then you have x=3. the only reason you added 7 before is because that was a -7. not a positive. you did the opposite.

Sorry if it's confusing! Go talk to your teacher...

Can anyone answer these math question correctly for me?

I'll be a nice guy and actually try to help someone...

21. (0,3),(-5,0)

(x,y) is how you should look at these types of questions. you want to take y2-y1 divided by x2-x1. So, for this one you would have (0-3)/(-5-0) which would work out to be 3/5. Now, I think the point slope formula is y=mx+b. M is your y/x and b is where the line would cross the y axis (the vertical line) on a graph where x is 0. So, in this case I think it would be y=3/5 x + 3. (because (0,3) means at the 0 x axis, y is 3)

Write the equation of the line having the following properties...
50. parallel to 4x-y=7 and passes through (2,-1)

With this one, you want to solve it for what y equals. This one is easy, as y equals y=4x-7. because it's parallel, you just keep the M (4 in this case) the same value. Perpendicular, you would change it from positive to negative or vice versa. Remember, everything can change for y=mx+b. To figure out the value for a parallel line, you need to find the new B value. you already have the Y,X to plug into the formula. so you'd have

-1 = 4(2) + B. therefore...B = -9. So your parellel line is y=4x-9. If it were perpendicular, you would have changed the 4 to a negative 4 before trying to solve for b.

Hope that helped.

*** Go with the answer below mine...they are right...it's negative reciprical. not just the negative....***

Do you think someone famous will answer this question (trying to see if relatively famous, or intelligent people are on Quora, and/or will answer questions to normal people)?

If you had asked a more challenging question regarding physics, space travel or something similar, I am sure Elon Musk, Robert Frost or professor would have answered not because they want to show how intelligent they are but to guide you.But since the question does not hold their interest and they have much greater things to worry about, it is highly unlikely they might answer this one.So you will have to settle for answers from us unknown mere mortals on Quora.

I have a science/math question for all u smart people out ther!!!!.......i need help!!!!?

If you go by age 15, in 40 years you will be 55 and the population will be 6 billion+6 billion= 12 billion.
In 40 more years you will be 95 and the population will be 12 billion + 12 billion = 24 billion
In 2 more years you will be 97 and the population will have increased by 2/40ths so 24 billion x (2/40) = 1.2 billion.
When you are 97 the population will be 25.2 billion

If you go by when you are 17, there are two 40 year periods and the population will double twice.
6 billion x 2 is 12 billion
12 billion x 2 is 24 billion

B. What is the probability of getting at least one A?

C. What is the probability that none of the three sides math?

Why do math majors over-complicate answers on Quora? Someone asked if the square root of -1 exists. To look smart, a Quora math major posted a large mumbo jumbo answer including “no, in the set of real positive numbers”.

As far as I can tell, the questioner does not seem to realize that the word “exist” means something quite different to a mathematician than it means to everyone else. To most people, something either exists or it doesn’t. Red apples exist. Ants that are larger than elephants do not exist. But that’s not the way existence works in Mathematics. In math, we precisely define a set of terms and ONLY THEN can we discuss existence in the context of those definitions. But the tricky part is that many terms have more than one common definition and existence or lack thereof can switch depending on the choice of definition. So before we can discuss existence, we have to make our choice of definition explicit. The term square root (from your question details) is an example a mathematical concept that has more than one definition.“Square root” can be defined as a function from non-negative reals to non-negative reals so that the square root of -1 is not even defined and cannot therefore exist. But “square root” can also be defined as a function from the set of complex numbers to the set of complex numbers with non-negative imaginary part. (This is often called the principal square root.) In this case, the square root of -1 exists and is denoted i (or j for you electrical engineers). And finally, “square root” can be defined as a function from the set of non-zero complex numbers to the set of ordered pairs of complex numbers so that every non-zero complex number has TWO distinct square roots (supplemented with the square root of zero equals the singleton, 0). Using that definition, THE square root of -1 is actually a pair of numbers i and -i.The point is, a mathematician is simply not able to answer the question “Does X exist?” without being quite explicit about the definitions of all the relevant terms. It’s not a matter of “trying to look smart.” It’s a matter of being precise which is what mathematicians are trained to do. A mathematician simply doesn’t see it as a yes or no question. Often, the answer boils down to “with this definition, yes, and with this other definition, no.”Your question comes across as criticizing mathematicians for answering mathematical questions like mathematicians. It seems to do more to illustrate your disconnect form the world of mathematics than anything else.

Why are some people smarter in math than others? The answer is not how a person tries.

Perhaps the most g loaded domain is “mathematical intelligence”.The best measure of raw fluid mathematical talent is probably the Figure Weights subtest on the WAIS-IV which has a g loading of 0.78. However great achievement requires more than just raw talent. It also helps to have 10,000 hours of practice, among other things. Raw talent seems to explain 66% to 70% of the variance in various cognitive performance, suggesting talent or IQ correlates 0.82 with performance. If we assume that the correlation between g and math performance is caused simply by their shared correlation with math talent, then the correlation between g and math performance is simply the product of these two correlations: 0.78*0.82=0.64.So if the greatest math achiever of the 20th century is +6 SD above the white mean in math achievement, he should be 6(0.64) = 3.84 SD above the white mean in IQ. Since IQ is scaled to have a mean of 100 and an SD of 15 in the white population, that equates to 158. With a correlation of 0.64, the standard error around the estimate would be 11.53, so we can say with 95% certainty that the greatest math achiever of the 20th century would have an IQ of 135 to 181. I suspect Einstein would be a lot closer to 135 than 181 given the small brain he had at autopsy. (Yet I don't think brain size is the be all end all and a very small brain can still be very smart see here and if you have a hypothesis feel free to comment;-)Footnotes: Do you need to be a genius to be a Genius?

Math question. easy 10 points . ugh please?

READ THE WHOLE THING. IT'LL HELP
if the f's must remain together, they can be considered as one letter when performing the initial calculation
so now there are effectively 6 letters since the two letters have become one.

so the way in which these can be arranged is 6!
---------------------(6! means 6*5*4*3*2*1)
however, there is still a second f for every one of those 6! factorial ways of arranging 6 letters. Thus, there is a second way of arranging the f's. if the two f's are called f1,f2, we can arrange them as f1,f2 or f2,f1

so the answer would be 6! * 2 = 1440. ---note that the f's do, in fact, remain together.

if you weren't completely clear on that, this should help you out

B, U, F1,F2,A,L,O
F1& F2 together are called F

so we have B,U,F,A,L,O
6! ways of arranging these

so one arrangement might be
F,U,B,A,L,O (however F = F1,F2)
so it could be either
F1,F2,U,B,A,L,O
or
F2,F1,U,B,A,L,O
so there are two ways or arranging the f's. so we multiply 6! by 2. (since there's a second way to arrange the f's each of the 6! times)
When we DON'T multiply by 2, only one way is accounted for.

If there were 3 f's, we'd multiply 6! * 3! (since there are 3 factorial ways of arranging the 3f's)

The sad truth is that this is the ONE correct answer from all of these. Trust me. shhrewd, a "top contributor" said it is a combinations question but it isn't because if it was, the question would have said combinations rather than arrangements. Arrangements deal with permutations which are slightly different. If it was a combination question, shhrewd's answer would be correct.

Are people who study Engineering or Math the Smartest people?

Everyone's natural intelligence is what it is. But there are types of intelligence which many people fall into. Studying a subject that your brain naturally excels in will draw out your strengths and challenge your brain to work more efficiently. Whether that is in philosophy, engineering, math or english that is up to you to find out. There are other people whose intelligence is very well rounded, and will do good with anything they study.
