What is the present state of Indian football?
Indian football has never been better in the last few decades !Stephen Constantine’s return as the Indian coach and Baichung Bhutia’s persuasion in doing so was the best thing that happened in 2015. Constantine resuscitated Indian football since.Since his takeover as the coach, India jumped from an all-time low of 173 in 2015 to an all-time high of 100 in 2017. He made a young team with average age 23 years. He instilled belief and confidence in them. The result – India started performing well.In Asian zone, India currently stands in 11th spot (above some good teams like Oman and Iraq).India, recently, registered its eighth consecutive victory. This includes friendlies as well as competitions. India has started winning on away soil more often now and is ruthless when playing on Indian soil. Recently India defeated Cambodia and Myanmar on away soil and demolished Laos and Puerto Rico at home.India is currently on top of its group in the 2019 AFC Asian Cup Qualifier. With seemingly easy draws in the group, India can pull off itself to the Round of 16 creating another historic moment in the coming years.Indians have become a competitive side. You can see them playing till the dying minutes of the game irrespective of the result. Recently, India defeated Myanmar 1-0 when Sunil Chhetri scored a late goal. With this India defeated Myanmar after 64 years at their home.Even the I-league has become more competitive than ever before. This year Aizawl FC won the I-League (similar to what had happened when Leicester City won the English Premier League).The Indian origin players playing abroad have also started to show interest in playing for the national side. Constantine has agreed too, that, if we could get Indian origin players from abroad, we could beat even the big teams from Asia and escalate quicker on the FIFA rankings. Only if AIFF could change some rules regarding foreign based Indian players.The team is young and in good shape. We can safely assume that Indian football has a bright future in the coming years. Even the India U-17 squad has lot of promising youngsters. Ive been to japan, as far as i know, japanese people are very much workaholics, they work even sundays. they are always in a rush, always seem to be in a hurry. they dont talk much, esp if you are a foreigner, not because they dont like you but because they probably cant understand you at all. in tokyo alot can speak english, but in some areas only few people speak english. japanese people wants things that are nice, calm, soothing and quiet and they want you to respect their privacy. when you board the escalator, stay on the left side if you dont want to walk because you will be pushed around if you get in the way. generally, they are nice people, kinda quiet and tends to be loners.
