Can Someone Get My Credit/debit Card Information With Only My Birth Certificate

Can someone get my birth certificate for me?

I'm in another country and need my Birth Certificate from the States. Is it possible my friend brother or father can receive it for me? How long does it take and how much does it cost? Is there a way I can receive it through mail but pay through cash instead of credit card?

I think I lost my birth certificate and I'm scared someone will use it for idenity theft.?

The birth certificate will most likely have your parents's names, address and social security numbers, and may have your social security number as well. All of this information in the hands of a criminal raises the risk of identity theft significantly.

I would suggest contacting a credit monitoring company for youself AND your parents for a while. You can try Citi Credit Monitoring Service for about $10/month. This service can send you timely alerts via email or text message if it detects fraudulent activity and also allows access to identity theft experts to assist you with identity theft issues. I would definitely do this for a few months and if nothing bad happens you can cancel it. Hope this helps.

I’ve never had a state identification card, and someone stole both my birth certificate and my Social Security card. What could someone do with my information?

They could apply for a US Passport. Establish credit, obtain a drivers license or other government ID. With those they can gain legal employment (at least as legal as one can get with fake ID) and establish credit. They can use the credit to purchase items to sell and never pay off the credit cards, ruining any chances you have of obtaining credit. It is a serious matter and you should contact authorities.

If your U.S. birth certificate is stolen, is your identity in danger? If so, to what degree?

A birth certificate (that of course matches the approximate age, and the definitive sex and race of the holder) is what's called a "breeder document." That means it can be used to obtain other more valid forms of identity such as a driver's license and then a passport.Losing a birth certificate (or having it stolen) is a serious concern and it should be reported to the police ASAP. You should immediately run a credit check on yourself and you should contact the DMV (Department of Motor Vehicles) in your state to ensure that new fraudulent ID hasn't been issued in your name.Unless there's a valid reason for someone to see your birth certificate or use it for identification, you should keep it at home or in a safe deposit box, locked away. This also includes the birth certificates for other family members, as well.NOTE: I wrote this answer more than two years ago (in 2011) and I have to emphasize it even more today. If I resemble you closely in race/age/ethnicity and I have a copy or an original of your birth certificate, I AM YOU to people who don't know you.I can obtain any number of other breeder documents and I can become "you" in anywhere from a few hours to several weeks. If I committed dozens or hundreds of crimes, financial improprieties or social faux pas' in that time period, YOU will be blamed for them until (and probably well after) I am uncovered, arrested and potentially prosecuted. If you lose your birth certificate and you suspect that it may have been stolen or misplaced outside your home, contact the police immediately.

I lost my birth certificate and social security card and have no license how can i obtain an id?

A SS card is not an ID.. but is required to obtain benefits so depending upon which you need first (ID or benefits)

1) Birth Cert: Contact the County where your birth was recorded and request a certified copy of the certificate. You may be able to do this on line with a Credit Card. If not you will need to write them and request it.

2) SS.. call their offices or go on line and request a new one. This is an easy request.. they wear out and the SS people will send a new one to your last address of record.

3) LIcense: Go down to your local DMV offices and apply for a replacement license. Most DMV offices require you to appear in person so they can match your face with that of the license. Contact them to find out their unique process since it varies from state to state.

Hurricane Irene was a while ago.. be prepared to explain why you have taken so long to request a new one.

good luck

Lost state ID, social security card, and my Birth certificate.?

I lost my Birth certificate a while ago and just neglected to get a new one. But, now I'm not sure what to do. I lost my wallet and it had my Social Security card and ID in it. I mean the only other form of ID i had was my Military ID and that was in it too. I don't even know where to begin with trying to get everything back together. I Don't have an ID, so i really have to be careful about driving, and I have no money because my credit and debit cards where both in there. I don't know how to get a new social without having my ID, or a new ID with my social or even a new birth Certificate without either of those to things. And how do i get money from the bank if i don't have any proof of who i am.

Hypothetically speaking: if a person were to post their birth certificate and Social Security card on the Internet, what might happen to them in the short-term?

For starters, the person would expose themselves to identity theft. The numbers cold be sold on the black market for money. Other people might be able to hack into the person's credit card accounts, bank accounts and log into their social security administration website. They could steal your money and make unauthorized charges on your credit cards. In addition, they could see every place of employment you worked at and college you attended. They could also open up other bank accounts or credit cards in your name. If the thief is smart enough, they might be able to get take out a mortgage in your name, a loan on a car and take out a lease to rent an apartment. In extremely rare cases, they can even frame you for a crime.

How do I get a certified copy of my birth certificate, if I live in a different state than which I was born? I have no social security card and no state identification.

The simplest way to get a birth certificate without ID is to get a close relative (parent, sibling) with ID to order it for you. It doesn’t matter what state you live in; you can order by mail or online. Here is a list of links to all state vital records offices: Where to Write for Vital Records. Most state vital records websites that allow you to order certificates online eventually link to VitalChek. You can save some time and go there directly and attempt to order a certificate. VitalChek is going to apply the particular state’s rules for identification. If you can get through the ordering process, you’re home free. If not, you’re stuck. What happens depends on the state. If you get stuck, call the state vital records office from the link above and ask them how to proceed. But you really need to work on that ID and social-security card.
