Can Someone Give Me A Rough Idea Of How Tough It Is To Quit Smoking For A Somewhat New Smoker

Is smoking cigarettes in moderation still very bad for you, for example one a day or only when imbibing or only on the weekends?

It's your life and it's really up to you. But you already know that smoking isn't good for you.So the real question is:Are YOU okay with smoking in moderation? Some other questions to ask yourself:How will I stop myself from exceeding moderation?Should I set limits to keep myself accountable? How long do I plan to smoke in moderation? Many everyday smokers didn't plan to be when they first picked up. I know I didn't. I started at 18, and only smoked after a bad night at work. Then I started smoking every night after work. Then I'd smoke with friends after school and at parties. Then it became an everyday thing (off and on) for the next six or seven years.I've never had cancer, nor have I become terribly ill from smoking, but I knew it was always possible. Two or three years ago I met a dude at a party. He was about my age (early 20s at the time). We were outside smoking cigarettes, talking about how we needed to quit when he told me he had already gotten (and beaten) cancer. That really blew my mind- someone my own age who not only got cancer, but beat it too- and was right there talking about it as he took a drag from his cigarette. We all think we're invincible until we get hurt. Two years ago I decided to quit as a new year's resolution. Now I use a vape (an electronic cigarette). I started at 18mg nicotine, a very high level. Since then, I dropped down to 12, then to 6, and now I'm between 6mg and 3mg (three is pretty much the lowest, aside from zero).I still like smoking, but now I just vape. It's not good for you, but so far all the evidence I've seen suggests that vaping is far better for your health than smoking tobacco (or smoking anything for that matter). I'm no longer addicted to the nicotine- now it's just a mental addiction to "the act" of smoking. I mostly vape when socializing / when anxious / when driving / and when killing time. I plan to quit that in the future too, but I'm in no hurry.Stay realistic, set limits and don't surpass them, and keep in moderation. Keep in mind the longer you continue to smoke, the more you're endangering yourself.Edits: grammar, word choice.

Nicotine patch or Nicotine gum to quit smoking?

My husband is a smoker he finishes a pack in two days. He's been smoking since he was 13 that's what he tells me he's going to be 29 in December. I love for him to quit since we got two wonderful kids ( 3 year old boy and 7 month baby girl ) at first I didn't mind that he smokes but since we lost a baby girl at 24 weeks old. I think it was the smell off the cigarettes since he would smoke around me but stop doing that and now smokes outside and away from us. But either way is bad for him, his lungs, and heart. I have a grandpa that has cancer because he would smokes two packs a day. The point is I want to know if the patch or gum is better the doctor gave him chantix but he Refuse to take it and its expensive too. So which two will help him? Please

How can I stop getting throat burn when I smoke weed?

There are many ways to stop throat burn (I'm not aware of the term, but I know the feeling), they range from the fantastical - stop smoking weed, to the mundane - create a completely new type of weed that enjoys being smoked and rewards you by being much smoother….uh, I might have got them the wrong way round……But seriously, the best place to start is probably to make sure the weed you are smoking is properly cured, in my experience the majority of harshness comes from this single factor. A well cured weed should be smooth as a proverbial.Weed still harsh? My next step towards smoothness would be to cool the smoke down as much as possible before it hits my throat, a good ice bong will help with this.Still too harsh? The only other thing I've found to help, and this is always my last resort, is to add tobacco, even as much as a fifty-fifty split. It's not ideal, it does dilute the high somewhat and we know tobacco is worse for you than cannabis, but the question was about stopping throat burn.I should also add that, as other answers have noted, it is always a good idea to drink in between hits/drags/puffs. It doesn't stop the burning, but it certainly alleviates the symptoms.Hope that helps and happy high!

How long do cravings last after Quitting Smoking?

Good for you for quitting smoking. When I quit before, I had pneumonia and after two weeks I had no desire to smoke until someone insisted I have a cigarette then I was hooked again. Everyone is different as to how long the cravings last but, I think after a week or two the cravings will be less often. Take showers, walks, and exercise to help you through this trying time. Eat fruits too. Try to avoid coffee or the things you associate with smoking. Get a punching bag and put it in your basement or garage when you get the craving go take your frustrations out on the punching bag. There are so many benefits to quitting and no benefits to smoking. Good Luck
