Event Planning: What are some useful books and resources on professional events and conference planning?

This is a somewhat complicated question because professional events and conference planning can mean a lot of things. It could mean a product launch, a party, event production, conference structuring or more. If you're looking for a list of resources, BizBash (one of the event industry trade rags) put out a pretty good list back in January or February this year: 20 Books Every Event Planner Should Read | BizBash Another good resource to check out is the Event Manager Blog: Event Manager Blog » The first blog for event loversThe other places you should check out are all the professional associations within the industry, specifically MPI, PCMA, ASAE and the CIC. Each of them has lists of books you should read. Good luck and let me know if I can be more helpful!

Great Gatsby: Motives for Daisy?

The Great Gatsby – F. Scott Fitzgerald

Protagonist - Jay Gatsby

Jay Gatsby is the main focus of the work, and it is his story that follows the classic tragedy plot. When we first meet Jay Gatsby, we know only that he is a fabulously wealthy man who throws enormous parties. Mystery and intrigue surround him. Who is he? What does he do for a living? Has he done some terrible thing, like kill a man? Because of these unknowns, we're not sure at first how comfortable we are with Gatsby as the protagonist. The title certainly helps - we expect the man to be great, after all, so we look to him to fulfill our common expectations of what a protagonist should be. We expect him to be someone with whom we sympathize, someone we want to succeed. And indeed, we do feel for Gatsby. We, the reader, want him to get Daisy. Fitzgerald has created in Gatsby such a heartfelt character, and in Tom such a villain, that we don't even judge Gatsby for trying to steal someone else's wife. As far as we're concerned, Gatsby fits the protagonist bill.

Foil - Jordan Baker and Daisy

Jordan Baker can be viewed in opposition to Daisy. While Daisy wishes to be admired and adored, while she carries the dreams of the past into the present, Jordan is far more practical. Tom and Gatsby see Daisy as an angel, something to be protected and put on a pedestal; Jordan Baker would be damned before she'd let anybody do that to her.

What is American dream?

Immigrants to America, especially during the industrial era, came from countries where regardless of their work and effort, they were still starving and poor. The idea of the American Dream is that you get to enjoy the fruits of your labor. That in America, anyone can own property, start a business, educate their children, etc. If you work hard and want it bad enough, you can rise higher and higher. Whether that means having all the things you mentioned, or just having a decent home and taking a vacation once in a while without having to file bankruptcy in the process.

What is the one movie you watched that changed your life the most and why?

Recently due to continuos boredom of my regional films, I tried to look into other countries films and stuck with to watch a South Korean drama ‘Ode to My Father'.Its all about the journey of a young boy who gives the promise to his father when they are separated during the wartime in Korea.During the separation of war , the boy misses his little sister and the father who goes for search of his sister and urges the the boy to take the responsibility of the family , if he doesn't return back.Such an emotional plot which makes you literally tear when the plot begins with the boy who changes to teen and work in the MINE industry and in the US-Vietnam war time as a agent for Vietnam soldiers where he escapes several time from the death and thinks of his father promise to look into their family need, which makes you outburst the tears with soothing background music. At one point he remembers his father and say , “ Dear dad, its very tough and hard to live. I hope I did well to keep the promise and its not my children who were born in the wrong time, it's we who faced difficult situations for survival”.Such a hard hitting note in the film by the director , Yoon Je-Kyoon highlighting the lives of the family during the war time and the promise of the young boy who works his lifetime and goes to through all hardship in the life to take care of his family. One of the greatest movie to witness and I can't keep calm because its going to be remaked by Superstar Salman Khan with the director, Ali Abhas Zafar with the working title ‘BHARAT' @EID 2019.
