Is soft resetting for shiny legendary Pokémon worth the time?

Honestly, probably not. In my opinion, legendary pokemon make the game a little too easy, and takes all the fun out of training a team of your own pokemon to suit your playstyle. You are your own individual, and if everyone else is soft resetting for shinies, what makes you any different from a clone of them? Even if the game gets a little grindy at times, it's still pretty easy as it is, and while shiny pokemon may look cool, they can't do anything that non shiny pokemon can't do, other than impress a few friends. To make it worse, the best possible ratio for finding shinies, is one in five hundred something, and this is with pokeradar chaining, and the shiny charm (which you have to complete the national pokedex to get.)Unless you have a couple months to do nothing but soft reset your game, don't bother trying to get a shiny  legendary, because in that time, you might be able to finish three more pokemon games if you're  an average player, and maybe even 30-60 full runs of a game without using any of the same pokemon twice if you're obsessed enough to still consider going through with your shiny legendary pokemon hunt. Heck, why not buy all the games of the generation you play, and fill out the national dex with all of the pokemon from those teams?Sure there are more productive ways to spend time that don't involve pokemon, but hey, what do I know? I used to play pokemon too.

I need help determining the value of my Kawai Piano?

I have a beautiful black (bright shiny wood) Kawai upright piano that I received some time ago.
It is in perfect shape (I never play it or my family) and has the following markings inside the top portion. A gold emblem Kawai KK" and marked NS-20A. There there is a stamp 2124902 in there as well. It has three I guess brass foot pedals and an electrical cord coming out the bottom?? I have the matching perfect bench that came with it. It is on wheels and weighs an incredible amount (took 5 guys to lift it up 4 stairs). It appears perfect except the medal hinges and foot pedals have some minor discoloration (just need shining).
I went on a piano site and got a ton of different answers. I contacted dealers here and consignment shops and I dont think I found an honest one yet. All tried to scam offering 500-2000, some saying it is worth as much as 3000. Can anyone help and advise a good way to sell?? THANKS ALL

Why do we pay so much for shiny rocks? (diamonds)?

I get your point. I've said the same thing for years. The idea of "blood diamonds" is almost laughable if it wasn't so pathetic...people basically killing each other over shiny objects.

The "hardest substance" thing is a coincidence. Nobody buys a big diamond ring because they might need to use it as an emergency cutting tool. They buy it because it's "sparkly".

The only practical reason to buy diamonds is because they tend to appreciate in value...meaning you can find somebody later that's willing to pay more money for the same rock.

Ultimately, people can spend their money on whatever they want. And they've been conditioned to want to own rocks as a sign of wealth/success. It is kind of funny. Kudos to you for finding a practical use for your money. Just don't expect a whole lot of people to follow suit.

Food for thought - The money is only paper. It's only value is what we place on it. It used to be backed by the promise of gold (more shiny rocks). Today it's backed by...basically nothing. Look up "Fiat Money (standard)"

What is the value of life?

I received a message on whatsapp.Read it, here it goes:A little boy went to his old grandpa and asked, "What's the value of life?"The grandpa gave him one stone and said, "Find out the value of this stone, but don't sell it."The boy took the stone to an Orange Seller and asked him what its cost would be.The Orange Seller saw the shiny stone and said, "You can take 12 oranges and give me the stone."The boy apologized and said that the grandpa has asked him not to sell it.He went ahead and found a vegetable seller."What could be the value of this stone?" he asked the vegetable seller. The seller saw the shiny stone and said, "Take one sack of potatoes and give me the stone."The boy again apologized and said he can't sell it.Further ahead, he went into a jewellery shop and asked the value of the stone. The jeweler saw the stone under a lens and said, "I'll give you 1 million for this stone."When the boy shook his head, the jeweler said, "Alright, alright, take 2 24karat gold necklaces, but give me the stone."The boy explained that he can't sell the stone.Further ahead, the boy saw a precious stone's shop and asked the seller the value of this stone. When the precious stone's seller saw the big ruby, he lay down a red cloth and put the ruby on it.Then he walked in circles around the ruby and bent down and touched his head in front of the ruby. "From where did you bring this priceless ruby from?" he asked."Even if I sell the whole world, and my life, I won'tbe able to purchase this priceless stone."Stunned and confused, the boy returned to the grandpa and told him what had happened."Now tell me what is the value of life, grandpa?"Grandpa said,"The answers you got from the Orange Seller, the Vegetable Seller, the Jeweler & the Precious Stone's Seller explain the value of our life...You may be a precious stone, even priceless, but, people will value you based on their financial status, their level of information, their belief in you, their motive behind entertaining you, their ambition, and their risk taking ability. But don't fear, you will surely find someone who will discern your true value."Respect yourself.Don't sell yourself cheap. You are Unique. No one can Replace you.Value the value..I hope you got your answer..

How to make Quarters Shiny?

Things appear shiny because the surface is very smooth and even. The light is all reflected in the same direction giving you that bright shine. But as any surface is slowly degraded from use, it gets uneven so that the light is not scattered in all directions and is not shiny anymore. You will need to get the surface smooth again, and that can be done by polishing. However, you are going to lose some of the surface detail that way. So you may have to accept them as they are. Try to collect uncirculated coins, and do not touch them at all so they stay shiny for a very long time.

When a pokemon's shiny does it's nature effect it's stats?

A pokemon's nature will always effect its stats, adamant for example increases your attack, while decreasing your special attack.

And overall, no being shiny does not effect a pokemon's stats, a shiny pokemon can have the exact same stats as a normal pokemon, theoretically. The reason for this are there are literally trillions of personality value combinations pokemon games generate, and any value is possible, so its very possible that your shiny pokemon has pretty bad stats. Now as someone said, when shiny pokemon first came out in gen 2, there was no personality value in the game, and it was limited to certain ivs, and certain ivs where kept for certain shiny pokemon, for example most pokemon with hidden power-bug, where shiny. This was fixed in later games with the advent of a more complex personality generator.

What are some short motivation stories?

A man went to God and asked, "What's the value of life?"God gave him one stone and said, "Find out the value of this stone, but don't sell it."The man took the stone to an Orange Seller and asked him what it's cost would be.The Orange Seller saw the shiny stone and said, "You can take 12 oranges and give me the stone."The man apologized and said that the God has asked him not to sell it.He went ahead and found a vegetable seller. "What could be the value of this stone?" he asked the vegetable seller. The seller saw the shiny stone and said, "Take one sack of potatoes and give me the stone."The man again apologized and said he can't sell it.Further ahead, he went into a jewellery shop and asked the value of the stone. The jeweler saw the stone under a lens and said, "I'll give you 50 Lakhs for this stone." When the man shook his head, the jeweler said, "Alright, alright, take 2 crores, but give me the stone." The man explained that he can't sell the stone. Further ahead, the man saw a precious stone's shop and asked the seller the value of this stone. When the precious stone's seller saw the big ruby, he lay down a red cloth and put the ruby on it. Then he walked in circles around the ruby and bent down and touched his head in front of the ruby."From where did you bring this priceless ruby from?" he asked. "Even if I sell the whole world, and my life, I won't be able to purchase this priceless stone.Stunned and confused, the man returned to the God and told him what had happened. "Now tell me what is the value of life, God?God said, "The answers you got from the Orange Seller, the Vegetable Seller, the Jeweler & the Precious Stone's Seller explain the value of our life... You may be a precious stone, even priceless, but people may value you based on their level of information, their belief in you, their motive behind entertaining you, their ambition, and their risk taking ability. But don't fear, you will surely find someone who will discern your true value."In the eyes of God you are very very precious. Respect yourself. You are  Unique. Why do we need Python when R is so brilliant for machine learning and data science?

Machine learning and data science are about adding value to the customer. For example:A lending company wants to automatically figure out which borrowers will repay the loan, and which ones won’t.A hedge fund wants to quickly find good trading opportunities.A restaurant chain wants to figure out which menu items are succeeding and which ones should be cut.Facebook wants to generate dynamic news feeds quickly.None of the above companies care if your model is in R or Python. They care if the model works and adds value to the business. In practical terms, this means that you pick the language that:Is cheapest to develop the analysis or algorithm. This consists of two parts:The language that requires data scientists to spend the least amount of time learning how to do the analysis. For example, if business needs require an advanced machine learning algorithm, and your data scientists only know how to do machine learning in Python, you pick Python. The language that takes the least time to develop the analysis in.Is easy to integrate with other components in the company. If the company has a website, and wants to show live borrower risk profiles, then a language that integrates well with the website makes sense for the analysis.Fits the business needs of the company. For example, if the company wants to build a real-time engine to quickly execute trades, the language needs to be as fast as possible. If a company wants to deep learning, the language has to support it well.Python tends to be favored over R in situations where the language needs to integrate with other components in the company, where the rest of the company is already using Python (ie for a webserver), and where data engineering is more important than the machine learning and analysis. We teach Python at Dataquest for these reasons.Ultimately, both languages are important for data science, but I hope that this post shows that language is often the last choice you should make in a new machine learning or data science project.
