How do you find the original source of GIFs?

There’s a free reverse image search app called Veracity which has sometimes accomplished this for me. It's in the Apple app store. It won't specifically guide you to the original source, but it will usually find multiple web pages containing the image - whatever the file type, whether it's animated or not - and then you can hunt through them, hopefully identifying the origin. There’s also a site called knowyourmeme which can be quite useful. At the moment I'm having no success seeking the origin of this. I know that animated GIFs don't animate here on Quora (why not?), but this kid gets pranked by three friends who push him into a swimming pool through a clever, coordinated effort. Veracity led to many pages, one of which is on knowyourmeme, where it’s called The Death of Julius Caesar, but what the original source is remains beyond me as yet. I'd love to see this video. All luck to you.

Can someone please help me find who was the original photographer of this image? see details?

That's gonna be a hard thing to find. I know the photo is from the movie "Sabrina" but that's about it

How can I find the original source of a video? I need to locate the person who made it.

Highly depends on the video and the content, also why it was uploaded and if it has been shared..As an example, this video depicts you doing something really stupid, making you a laughingstock. The uploader will surely have made a fictious account and uploaded said video so you will NOT know who posted it.Short of a govt. crack to break down the individual packets to gain access to the program encapsulation (which will only really tell you what program was used to capture and encode said video) you would need an agency like the NSA to retrieve the isp data transit to find the ip/mac addess used to upload. They are not going to waste their time on you, they got bigger fish to catch.

What do I do if someone is using an image on their website that belongs to me without my permission?

First thing I suggest doing is document the infringement. So take screenshots of this person using your image before you let them know you’ve found them. Next, you can reach out to them (in writing so email or message something like that) and politely ask them to remove the image as it is your intellectual property and you did not give them permission to use it.Often times, you will find that someone who is using your copyrighted work doesn’t know they can’t use it and are willing to take the item down once they are made aware of the issue. But, if they aren’t willing to comply I would document the infringement again ( also keep a record of your attempts at telling the person they are infringing) and then reach out again with a less friendly approach and demand that the image is removed. If neither attempt works I would say it’s time to get an attorney involved and send a cease and desist. Also, keep in mind that if the image is important to you and something that you either make a profit from or again just find it important enough to protect, you will want to make sure you have registered your copyright with the copyright office. Unfortunately, you cannot sue for copyright infringement if you don’t have that registration in place. So be sure to do that!I’ve written an article on handling trademark infringement so you may find it useful as it applies to an extent here as well. You can find it here: Trademark Infringement: How to Handle it | Montgomery Law, PLLCI hope this was helpful!Feel free to email me at shannon@montgomerypllc.com if you have more questions! Please note that none of the above is to be considered legal advice nor has an attorney client relationship been created. I do not know you or your situation and I have not been retained as your counsel. This is merely meant as some general legal knowledge.

Can someone help me find the Bible story of the pot calling the kettle black?

The closest things in scripture would be those passages regarding hypocrites/hypocrisy.

"The pot calling the kettle black" is a proverbial idiom that may be of Spanish origin of which English versions began to appear in the first half of the 17th century. The idiom is glossed in the original sources as being used of a person who is guilty of the very thing of which they accuse another and is thus an example of psychological projection.

The earliest appearance of the idiom is in Thomas Shelton's 1620 translation of the Spanish novel Don Quixote. The protagonist is growing increasingly restive under the criticisms of his servant Sancho Panza, of which one is that "You are like what is said that the frying-pan said to the kettle, 'Avant, black-browes'."[1] The Spanish text at this point reads: Dijo la sartén a la caldera, Quítate allá ojinegra (Said the pan to the pot, get out of there black-eyes).[2] It is identified as a proverb (refrán) in the text, functioning as a retort to the person who criticises another of the same defect that he plainly has. Among several variations, the one where the pan addresses the pot as culinegra (black-****) makes clear that they are dirtied in common by contact with the cooking fire.

Is it possible to know the real source of an image or video ( the person, location, camera name, etc.)?

Most cameras and smartphones store this information in the photo and this is called EXIF. However when uploaded on a webpage, most of the time it is stripped to protect privacy. Imagine exposing your home location to strangers on every photo you upload to Facebook... Despite this, I found location data extremely useful. For those who would like to check if their photos contain such data I would suggest Photo Location Viewer which utilizes EXIF GPS information to map a photo.

How do I find the origin of a downloaded file? (See details)

If I'm not wrong you are trying to know about the source location from where the file has been generated or transfered. You can simply trace the file if it has digital signature, and to findout if the digital signature or certificate of file exists you can follow these methods.Open command prompt window at the location where you have the downloaded file. Say, D:/software in my case.Type the following command : CertUtil -hashfile D:/software/pdr6free.exe . This command will generate a long string of code.Copy this code by selecting and right clicking it.Paster the code into google with no spaces between the code and google will tell you from where it has been downloaded.P. S. : I think that without digital signature like sha1 or md5 tracing the file is hard and maybe impossible than you think. It requires back tracking all the way and spending whole year finding the source and endup having nothing in hand.
