Can Someone Help Me With My Career Path

Help on choosing a career path?

Hello, like many people I'm trying to figure out my future and what college to go to/ what major, etc. Well I'm just coming here to get some insight on what I should focus on in college, because I'm not entirely sure on my career path yet. Currently I'm an upcoming sophmore in highschool, and here are some of my interests/hobbies:

-Art (painting [digital and traditional,] drawing and everything else)
-Animation (stopmotion and computer)
-Technology (Engineering and design)
-music (play some instruments)
-Crafting (crochet, sewing etc.)
-Science (mostly astronomy)
-Writing (Really good at that but can't stay interested, haha.)
-Photography and Photo manipulation
*School Extracurricular activities include basketball, cross country, track, FCA, and Guitar club.

My main concern is that I am a very creative person, however there isn't a high demand for any jobs revolving around creativity. Like my mother worked in house art renderings, but barely got paid anything and her company eventually died. I was talking to a professor at a university one day, and she told me that to be successful you will want to combine majors into one profession, as there should be a high demand, for example, a computer programmer that knows 3 foreign languages for international communication reasons, and has an graphic design degree. And that leads me to think i can have a high paying job that includes creativity if I were to look hard enough. So if you could give me insight on possible paths that would lead me to an well paying/enjoyable job, it would be great. Thank you!

Can you help me discover my career path?

This is a major question troubling students especially in India due to the commercialization of Education.. coaching classes and Colleges are more interested in selling insecurity..rather than helping students understand their core strengths and map them to the Careers that would suit them.. just the way they naturally are..one such patented technology in India which is working under the radar of such Education mafias is www. captest. in Online Guidance & Counselling after 10th, 12th, Graduation by taking the CAP Test do check out

Can you help me pick a career?

I think you are not the only one who is going thru such a dilemma. Most of the well qualified, middle income youngsters in India are in the same boat. MS is one of the very good options for you, to upgrade your skill sets, job satisfaction, work life balance and better lifestyle and prosperity. Most of them struggle with meagre savings and suffer from middle income syndrome.  Yet most of them have made it to US. You are from IIT and with a very good GRE ( say 330) you should be able to land on good admit within 20/30 ranks with part funding atleast. For some reason, it is not working out, you will gather one year of work experience.  Then go for CAT.

I am confused about my career path!?

Well.

To start at the end of your question, Museum curation is not quite a viable career path for someone just out of college. It requires an immense knowledge of art and history, as well as significant skills in organizing and cataloging. I can't place my finger on a source at this second, but I believe it requires a Master's Degree in some sort of art history, followed by up to a decade of internships to learn the trade itself, years of which can be unpaid. It's a hard life.

So, failing that, the requirements you've placed on your future career are: travel, art collection, nature, inspiring events, and a lot of money. If your interests lie in art, consider becoming involved in the private side of the business. That is, art dealing, or running a gallery. It's a more capitalist field than an academic one, so the degree and training requirements are far lower. However, success is defined by how much you can profit buying and selling works of art. You'll be made or broke by your connections, and your ability to sell. I don't know much about this, beyond my college roommate's dad is involved in the scene in boston, and does very well for himself.

All I can say is, pursue your passions. If you're in dental school because you want to be wealthy, not because you enjoy medicine or helping people, you might be in the wrong field. However, yahoo answers is not the place to be deciding your career path. Mine your contacts for anyone that is involved in paths you may choose to pursue. Once you find someone, get an introduction, and ask them for an information interview, or to shadow them in their job for a day. If you think you like something, spend a summer month or two interning to get the feel of it. Hopefully you find something you like enough to make a (first) career out of.

Career path for me? I'm a Dreamy Idealist...?

I am fascinated with the human brain; how people think and what people do. I also am a great listener and good with advise. I am a very curious soul and love to help others.

I don't know what career path to take for this field. I have been told that a Therapist, Counselor, ext would be good, but I don't know fully. Is that perfect for my curiosity and humanitarian ways?

Over the past few years, I have taken personality/career test.. all leading to Communication and Administrative Careers. It says I am Dreamy Idealist.

I'm interested in:
Writer Social Worker, Mental Health Counselor, Business, Professor.

Anyone care to share? Oh, I don't want a career that will take forever, I really don't want more then a BA.. but a MS could be done..
