Can Someone Help Me With Or Get Started On This Problem I Think I Know Part A .

Can someone help me with my Mother-in-law?

My Mil is a nice lady, atleast used to be, however she is starting to come between me and my husband. Lately she has come over to our house while my husband was at work and told me that he is under a lot of stress (DUH! I'm his wife, I think I know this) and explaines to me how to be a good wife and mother. I politely tell her it's none of her business and SHE got angery and left in a huff. She didn't talk to me for a week! (though that was a very pleasent week!) That finally blew over and then she calls me one day to see if she could take one of my kids with her and one of her other grandchildren to an event a town over. My children are 1, 2 and 3 years old. My oldest (the one she wanted to take) has special needs and when taken somewhere needs undivided attention. She placed the call at lunch time and when ever any of my children go anywhere it is an event in and of itself and it takes a 1/2 hour to prepare. so i said no and she had a fit! these are just two examples. any advice?

Can someone help me with word problems?

I really hate word problems and I'm having a lot of trouble with how to set things up and solve them.
I've done most of the problems but I am stuck on 3 questions.
Please help me! And it'd be helpful if you show how you set it up and such.

1) Adam made a trip to see his friend in college. The college is 295 miles from Adam's house. He averaged 50 mph for most of the trip but only 40 mph for the part where the road was under construction. If the trip took 6 hours, how many miles of the road were under construction?

2) A man called his wife from his office to tell her that they needed to switch vehicles. The wife left their home, traveling toward his office in their van at 35 mph. At the same time, the husband left his office in his car, traveling toward their home at 45 mph. If his office is 20 miles from their home, how long will it take them to meet so that they can switch vehicles?

3) For her workout, Sarah walks north at the rate of 3 mph and returns at the rate of 4 mph. How many miles does she walk if the round trip takes 3.5 hours.

Thanks for the help!

Can someone help me with or get started on this problem? I think I know part (a).?

As gamma rays travel through an object, their intensity I decreases with the distance x that they have travelled. This is called absorption. The absorption rate dI/dx is proportional to the intensity. For some materials the multiplier in this proportion is large; they are used as radiation shields.

a) Write down a differential equation which models the intensity of gamma rays I(x) as a function of distance x.

b) Some materials, such as lead, are better shields than others, such as air. How would this difference be expressed in your differential equation?

c) Assume the unshielded intensity of the gamma rays is I subscript 0 (initial value 0) .Write a formula for the intensity I in terms of the distance x and verify that it gives a solution of the initial value problem.

Thank you!

I have a problem...Can Someone please help me?!?

I bet you are an amazing person. You should not let your hair be your strength. There is more to you than that and I think it would be a good idea for you really work on that part of yourself. You should take as second every day to write down your top three things that day and put them somewhere so when you feel down about yourself you can look back and remember the positives. Just have fun doing things you are good at and think of your accomplishments and not imperfections. And when I feel like I am not as pretty as some girl in a magazine, I watch this video:
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=iYhCn0jf46U&feature=related
It's basically all the work that goes into making those pictures look so perfect.

The first thing you need to do for your hair is stop getting your weave put in with glue. This glue is going to stress your scalp and that is not what you want so you should let your hair rest a bit. You can still wear hair extensions if you want to but stick to methods that are easier on your hair and scalp like a quick weave or a lace front wig, which can be pricey, but last longer and look better than glue or bald spots so are well worth the money. If you go with the wig, you can treat your hair and allow it to become healthy and possibly grow faster. You can treat the hair with Jamaican Castor oil, but you need to remember this stuff smells strongly, so wear it at night or something, not when you are trying to make an impression Just massage it into your scalp and cover it up before you go to sleep then wash it out in the mornings. Never use that weave glue again and you will be much happier.

1. Shaun and Kendra want to scan old family photos into a computer photo organizing
program. On his laptop Shaun can scan about five photos in three minutes. Kendra can
scan about eight photos in five minutes on her computer. Working together, how many
minutes (t) would it take for both of them to scan 36 photos?

a. Fill in the blanks in the table below to find the ratios to represent the various photo
scanning rates. Then use the ratios to write a rational equation. ( is this right?

shauns scanning rate: kendras scanning rate: combine scanning rate:
___photos 5 + ___photos 8 = ___photos 36
___minutes 3 ___minutes 5 ___minutes t

Equation:____________________ ?

b. Identify the LCD for the equation. Solve the equation by multiplying both sides by the
LCD. Show all the steps necessary to find the answer. Then write a sentence to
describe what the answer means for this situation.

Can someone help me get started on these questions? I'm not really good with word problems in general....can someone help me with these problems with full detailed answers? Please and thank you!

1) A population of rabbits oscillates 22 above and below an average of 110 during the year, hitting the lowest value in January (t = 0).
a.) Find an equation for the population, P, in terms of the months since January, t.
b.)What if the lowest value of the rabbit population occurred in April instead?

2) Outside temperature over a day can be modeled as a sinusoidal function. Suppose you know the high temperature of 92 degrees occurs at 6 PM and the average temperature for the day is 80 degrees. Find the temperature, to the nearest degree, at 10 AM.

3) Outside temperature over a day can be modeled as a sinusoidal function. Suppose you know the temperature varies between 41 and 79 degrees during the day and the average daily temperature first occurs at 9 AM. How many hours after midnight, to two decimal places, does the temperature first reach 55 degrees?

4) A Ferris wheel is 45 meters in diameter and boarded from a platform that is 3 meters above the ground. The six o'clock position on the Ferris wheel is level with the loading platform. The wheel completes 1 full revolution in 2 minutes. How many minutes of the ride are spent higher than 44 meters above the ground?
