The main intention of the Chartered Accountant Act, 1949 was to develop a line of professional accountants who assess and vouch the fairness of the financial statements of state and private enterprises. When the Act was formed, it was primarily with the thought of institutionalizing practicable profession of accountancy.But in current times, the number of people going for job is increasing. I'm also in job. For me the reason to select job was obviously certainty of income. The fundamental difference between profession of a CA and others like medicine, engineer, law, etc. is - the profession of CA is "created" by law. If tomorrow GOI passes some shity rules that members of some other institute can also perform duty of CAs, then the profession will not have any value. (Currently the same is happening with CMAs with introduction of new Companies Rules). The need of doctor is due to fundamental human nature and not because of a law. The same is not the case with CAs.Plus, money is also an important factor. In practice, if you need to earn high fees, you need to go to larger clients who can afford it. And such type of clients do not go to fresh/new CAs generally. The clients a new CA gets are generally desi firms which rather than paying good fees, sometimes even does not pay an agreed upon fees. They get their accounts audited/taxes paid just because "they are required to". And not because they should do.On the other hand, a job in Corporate world is at times even more challenging than practice. For example I enjoy my job very much because it throws me up new challenges every day!
