From an early age I had always wanted to play the electric guitar. When I was in the 6th grade my brother and I bought a cheap electric guitar. Like most young kids we played it nonstop for a few weeks and then set it aside amongst the other birthday presents and gifts from relatives. We rarely played it and came up with excuses such as "it's too hard" or "we are too young". That was the case until my freshman year in high school. I had brought the guitar with me just in case I got really bored. However halfway through the school year I attended the winter concert where two of our schools rock bands performed. I came out of the concert hall in awe with how easily the guitarist was able to play the songs. I returned to my room with a sense of renewed enthusiasm towards learning the guitar. I played almost every day that year for at least an hour. Three years of guitar has taught me discipline, appreciation for all types of music, and motivation to improve. To me, guitar is a life-long passion that does not have a limit.

The first answer is right in some parts. Do not use contractions or any words like "very", "a lot", etc...but the word "I" is okay. If you don't use how the heck are you going to answer the prompt for a "personal statement." If your answer is in the "third person" it is not completely useful for you. Your essay isn't persuasive. In order to write a persuasive essay you need to take a specific side of an issue (for example: they should teach sex education to 7th graders), support your main argument for it with facts (50% of people are sexually active by that age), bring up the points against you (parents don't want their kids to know about sex), and then resolve those issues (kids are doing it anyways, its better to be safe). You need to rely on logic not emotion.

My primary motivation to transfer is to further my education at a traditional classroom setting. I started college at DeVry because I suffer from agoraphobia. DeVry offers online classes, which allowed me to focus on my phobia. Now I am in control of my fear and anxious to delve into the subject that has interested me since childhood—ironically, given my anxiety, space. Space has always been an interest for me as a child. My parents would always buy me model rockets because of my fascination of space shuttles. My favorite model rocket they got me was the Saturn V. The Saturn V was my favorite because NASA used it for Apollo 11. In the future, I would like to work on a future project for NASA. As I began high school, I started to take an interest in electronics. From opening and removing parts of an electric guitar, such as the pick guard, I quickly took an interest of playing guitar. One of my favorite hobbies is tutoring people how to play guitar. I strive on sharing my knowledge. Studying from the electronics engineering program at University of Illinois will allow me to create advanced electronics.
