Which computer games would you recommend for someone who just has a regular "run of the mill" PC or laptop?

The Infinity Engine games. Baldur’s Gate, Icewind Dale, Torment. These are incredibly fun, especially if you played a lot of D&D back in the 80s and/or 90s. The Baldur’s Gate series, in particular, is very well crafted and very challenging. The main storyline alone will take you over 200 hours to complete. The Enhanced Edition versions will run on low-spec systems and can be played on Windows, Mac, or Linux. The Civilization Series. I have to keep these off my computer because I will play them until 4 am on work nights.Blizzard recently released a remastered version of Starcraft. Check that out. Also, they’ve got Warcraft III reforged coming out soon.Torchlight II is a pretty cool Diablo-style action-RPG and it runs on low spec systems.Pillars of Eternity and it’s sequelThe original Dawn of War, which is an RTS based on the table-top game Warhammer 40K. One of my favorite RTS games of all time and it runs well on low-powered systems. Still available on SteamThose should keep you busy. Happy gaming!

Can you recommend a game for me?

There are plenty of great games out there that focus on driving their story through gameplay rather than bogging you down with exposition dumping dialogue. I'd say that the big factors here are: What themes are you looking for? How much are you willing to spend? Are you looking for single- or multi-player primarily?Borderlands and Borderlands 2 are great examples of gameplay-driven shooters that throw you directly into the action. Yes, there’s story, and good story too, but it is primarily driven through gameplay. Both are primarily single-player, but cooperative multi-player is also available. For a similar PVP experience, consider Battleborn, a competitive, hero-based shooter from the same developer. Just keep in mind that Battleborn has an extremely small player base, owing to its unfortunately timed release (very close to Overwatch). Are you looking for a non-shooter? Consider the “Souls” series. Dark Souls, Dark Souls 2, Dark Souls 3, Demon Souls, Bloodborne. All are nearly 100% gameplay driven. Again, there’s a rich, deep story in each of them, but you’ve got to look for it. There are people who get really good at these games, can play them backwards and forwards, who still couldn’t tell you what their stories are. There’s nothing lost from the experience of these games if you don’t care about the story. My advice, watch the few first minutes of a Let’s Play of any game that kind of interests you. If the first 5–10 minutes are mostly dialogue, you’re not going to like it. On the other hand, if the game throws the player directly into the action, and reveals the story through the gameplay, then that’s probably a game for you.

What are some obscure PC games you would recommend?

What computer games need to be added to the school curriculumWhen I am told about the benefits of traditional hobbies, such as reading books or, say, chess, a skeptical half-smile usually appears on my face.I still love to read, and there were years when I managed to absorb a book a day, so I can say with full knowledge of the matter: in terms of life education, books lose a lot of computer games. The same is true of traditional games, such as chess or, for example, the recently completely conquered robo go.I had to get involved in both topics and topics, and I am convinced that if the great grand masters and champions of the past had access to good computer games, they would have agreed with me.You and I live in the 21st century, and it’s stupid to throw aside his achievements only for the reason that we were not told about them in school lessons."Aimlessly lived years". Who plays for days in computer gamesPlease note: the use of reading is usually very vague, claiming that it "develops the brain" and "broadens the mind."The benefits of computer games can be determined much more specifically.Let's start with the simple.Dynamic network games like "Tim Fortress" or different versions of CoD develop a good reaction. This is a classic sport, with all the benefits of it, but without most of the unpleasant side effects of sports injury.Team-based network games, such as DotA or LoL, teach you to work in a team, gently resolve conflicts, and distribute responsibilities correctly among team members.Players have the opportunity to try themselves in different roles and practice to manage a small group.© AP Photo / Elaine ThompsonRole-playing games, RPG, teach the most important ability to make life plans. All RPGs are built on the same principle: at first, the player is weak and poor, but as the skills are pumped and important tasks are completed, he gains strength, money, and the necessary communications to solve the main game problems.Fashionable survival simulators give basic knowledge about the world around us.The player, for example, learns to extract iron from the bowels of the earth, smelt steel from it, and then make more advanced tools out of steel.I think it was because of this that Minecraft included some Swedish schools into the program.I would, however, have added “Minecraft” at least with the game “Factorio”, which gives basic knowledge about the organization of production, but I think this is still ahead of the Swedes.

What PC games do you recommend playing?

If you don’t have much money for games, you have two choices:play a free to play game. League of Legends, Dota, Hearthstone are all excellent choices here. There are also many free to play MMOs, such as Star Wars: the Old Republic, Runescape and Lord of the Rings Online. Because you mentioned shooters, I’ll point out that Warframe and Tribes Ascend are both free to play, although I don’t know whether either gets good populations anymore.Play a game with a ton of replay value. You can currently buy Civ V for 8 bucks (they slashed the price when VI game out), and it’s an awesome game you can play hundreds of times.By the way, if you ever want a handy list of free games, steam allows you to search for them quite easily.Oh, one more thing. While nothing there graps my fancy now, one source of great cheap stuff is Humble Bundle. They have reasonable prices, but occasionally, they will put up a bundle of stuff at a ‘pay what you want’ price point. For example, here’s a bundle that will give you 10–15 Sierra games from the 90s, depending on how much you choose to pay. Humble Bundle games are generally older, but its a great way to see the roots of the gaming hobby, and cheapskates can’t be too picky, can they?

What is the one PC game you would recommend others play?

Like the others, I would have to say it depends. I can't think of a game that has truly universal appeal.RPG fans who aren't too good for a bit of the old school should do whatever it takes to get Planescape: Torment installed and updated with the latest community fixes. I have been playing every game I could get my hands on for 30 years now, since my first Atari and arcade experiences. In terms of compelling character and story, Torment is leagues beyond anything else out there. I suppose it is a little dark for some, but if you like role playing games, and don't require bright sunshine and rainbows then you would be well served to put a little effort into this game. It ranks up there with the first times I played Zelda, Metroid, and GTA 3 as the most a game has ever captivated me. This is a game that will make other characters and stories seem trite and redundant. Everything good you have heard about it is true.I'd say World of Warcraft is a decent crowd pleaser. If you want a very social experience (though you can also play through the majority of the game by yourself) to go along with the most polished and enourmous game world ever, (play for years, still more to do...) this one can't be topped. There are other MMO flavors out there, but unless you just can't handle the fantasy atmosphere, there is no strong argument to play any of them except this one.Beyond that, it really just depends on who is asking. My list of "best games ever" would be hard to keep under fifty. I think World of Warcraft has the widest appeal. Skylanders for the younger or more casual gamer, perhaps. Something about toys that level up is just awesome. Way cooler than Barcode Battlers.
