Lyrics If Bread

If a picture paints a thousand words,
Then why can't I paint you?
The words will never show the you I've come to know.

If a face could launch a thousand ships,
Then where am I to go?
There's no one home but you,

You're all that's left me too.
And when my love for life is running dry,
You come and pour yourself on me.

If a man could be two places at one time,
I'd be with you.
Tomorrow and today, beside you all the way.
If the world should stop revolving spinning slowly down to die,
I'd spend the end with you.
And when the world was through,
Then one by one the stars would all go out,
Then you and I would simply fly away

Where do you stand about rock songs used for TV Commercials?

This has been discussed before, but I'm not sure in how long. I figured I'd ask this current wave of users.

It's a couple of questions-

1) the one in the title-

2) Most of the songs used are older ones from the 60s- 80s. (*lots* of 70s I noticed)

This latest Walmart one really annoys me:

There's another for 21st Century Insurance that uses this one:

The question is- if you're not a classic rock fan, (& that's ok!) how do you think you'd feel if in 20 years, your favorite *current* bands' songs were used in tv ads?

As for me- it mostly bugs me. I think it kinda takes away from the power & legacy of the songs. Sorta cheapens them, imo.

On the other hand, I realize that in many cases, the artists themselves are the ones who handed over the songs to use & probably could use the $$. I can sort of understand that w/ artists who didn't reach the heights of say, guys like Zeppelin or The Beatles.

But when I see Target using "Hello/Goodbye" & Cadillac using "Rock & Roll", hmm...no real excuse for it I think.
