What is wrong with the Indian audience of Bollywood?
I really don't understand the taste of Indian audience. Here are IMDb ratings of few Bollywood movies-IMDb ratings of Dilwale Dulhania Le Jayenge (1995) : 8.2IMDb ratings of My Name Is Khan (2010) : 8So Indian audience liked DDLJ more than the My Name is Khan.IMDb ratings of Bajrangi Bhaijaan (2015): 8IMDb ratings of Sarbjit (2016) : 7.3According to indian audience Bajrangi Bhaijaan was more realistic than Sarbjit.IMDb ratings of Maine Pyar Kiya (1989): 7.4IMDb ratings of Lipstick Under My Burkha (2016): 6.9Indian audience wants movies like maine pyar kiya. We are not going to accept movies like Lipstick under my burkha.These are just few examples. And sometimes IMDb ratings are also flawed, fans of superstars usually give 10 star ratings to movie like Happy New Year, Race 3, Dhoom 3 etc just because their favorite actor was part of the film and some give 1 star rating to movies like Dear Zindagi, Dangal etc because an another Khan was part of the movie. I am witnessing this shitty trend on Facebook where people urged their friends to give 10 star to a particular movie no matter how worst the content was of that movie.In India we are still following “Superstar culture” instead of an “actor culture”. On Quora itself, people write answers saying Rajkumar Rao, Irrfan Khan, Manoj Bajapeyi, Nawajuddin Siddiqui, etc are class actors but do we really (its not went. It should be go ) to theatre to watch their movies? We watch movies of all these actors on our cellphone and laptop and that's the truth of an Indian audience. We love to watch Race 3 in theatre and Gangs of Wasseypur on laptop. We admire actors on social media only but not in the theatre and multiplex.
