Can The Humane Society Take My Dog Away Without Letting Me Know

Can the humane society take dogs away for barking?

Humane Society's can't come and take your pet's away from you. If she complains enough to management, you could be asked to find somewhere else to live, possibly. If your dogs bark while you're gone that can be issue she can present. You may need to take a day off (if she doesn't work) to see if she instigates your dogs to bark while not at home (she needs to think you're at work for this to happen) or run out for errands on the weekend.

We have 4 dogs, 2 bark when someone comes to the door & 2 don't. You can try different methods of teaching them not to bark when a knock or the doorbell rings. One is a squirt bottle & telling them NO, the other is the snap of the finger or whistle along with stating NO.

I need to give my dog away to the humane society?

So my problem is that my whole backyard is infested with ticks. Before, my father took care of this, but now he's gone, my mom's raising two kids, a house, bills, and bad habits of her own that she has to take care of.

Today, I found that one of my dogs was COVERED, and I mean there was no fur where they a were, in ticks! On her ears and the top of her head, especially.

Well, I talked to my mother, and all she did was stress out and asked to let her go in the night. Please be considerate; she's a simple woman and Asian. There were many stray dogs when she was a child.

Anywho, I didn't want to do anything so rash like to just let her loose. So I said that I wanted to take her to the humane society, and then she brought up that we might get into trouble with animal abuse.

The ticks has never gotten this bad before. And I've tried Frontline, and it doesn't really work.

Could I take it to the humane society and say I found her?

It's horrible, but my mom won't do anything else.

Can an animal humane society take my dog away?

A short intro:

I have a small breed dog and it fractures its leg because it likes to jump from high places such as a bed or couch.

I have already taken it to the vet when it first happened and they said i need to pay $2500 dollars to do surgury. I didn't have the money at the time so i couldnt do the operation.

It healed fine and it was running and using the leg again but it reinjure it.

When it reinjured it i obviously didn't take it to a vet to pay $100s for xrays and a visit to get the same answer. So i was going to wait for it to heal again.

A noisy neighbor saw my dog limping and they called a animal humane society. The police came by and gave me a slip that said i need to schedule a vet visit within 24 hours and take it to a vet within 3 days.

My question is:

What power do these humane society people have? Can they get a warrent to enter my home and take my dog away if i don't take it to a vet? Can they legally do anything if i ignore them?

Adopting a cat from the humane society?

They only want what's best for the kitten. They want to make sure the environment will be suitable because they don't want the kitten harmed.

If they are interviewing then they will expect honesty.

Every Humane Society is different, don't know if they will come to the house. You should ask them what their policy is on adoption. Read the following:

I read in the paper, not long ago, a lady adopted a dog and lied about the home environment. Turned out they came to the house, un announced, and found out she was lying. She was fined and the dog taken away from her, so it doesn't pay to keep information from them.

Also, they keep records of these kinds of things and will not allow people to adopt from their society again.

You don't want to live in fear wondering if you will get found out, it's not worth it.

Hope this helps.

My room mate gave my dog away with out me knowing. is this legal?

No, But you can go to Judge Judy and get compensated for it.

Like any property that is stolen and resold, etc, the law will allow you to get the dog back if you can find it and prove original ownership. The other parties involved in the illegal transaction will have to work out the problem between themselves. Illegally obtained property( dogs are considered property) when recovered always can go back to the original owner.

Why cant the humane society just give me my dogs back?

Last night somebody broke into my backyard and stole my dogs. I always have the gate shut, a chain hooked to the gate and fence post so it won't open, and a cinder block in front of the gate. 1 of my dogs is on a lead tied to a tree because she jumps the fence. When I woke up this morning all the dogs were gone, I have 3. The dog on the leads collar was undone and still attached to the lead. Her sister didn't have a collar, and my male dog has never taken his collar off, ever. His collar was laying undone in the driveway. When I walked to the side of the house where the gate is, the block was 5ft away and the chain was moved and the gate was wide open. Somebody obviously went into the yard and took them.

I told all of this to the humane society and they said that's not what was in their report.

I identified the dogs and my male dog wouldn't stop barking after I walked away.

Why can't the humane society just give me the dogs back? They're obviously mine. They're charging 300 dollars which I don't have.

Dog given away without permission.?

My dog was just given away last night by my partner. I was not at home at the time and I have a devestated 15 yr. old daughter. He was given to a foster home and both of us have signed for him when we adopted him at the humane society. Is there any recourse that I have to get him back??? PLEASE HELP.......

Dying Dog while house sitting?

I'm currently dealing with a situation, me and my wife are watching her parents house for the week, because they are currently on vacation. The parents are well aware of the dogs condition, and its dying. I've suggested to my wife that the dog be put down, but shes in denial that the dog is dying. The dog, is lying on its side, its unresponsive, breathing very heavily, dog is about 17 years old. It has to be bottle fed water, and isn't capable of eating. To make this situation worse, the area we're in is farm area, and the fly population here is very heavy. I'm not the owner of this dog, and any negative(they would assume is negative, not necessarily what I believe) action on my part could hurt relationships, and I'm not sure how I can properly handle this. So I'm currently here watching an innocent animal suffer, wife is at work, and I have no way to take the animal to the vet, what can I do that won't cause problems with her family?

Yesterday, I saw my neighbour's son torturing their dogs by setting them on fire. Should I do something? I am not sure if I should react or not.

Okay, let me tell you what you should have done- and what you should do.You should have immediately gone over there taken the dog out away from the son's custody-force ably if need be. Yes, there's going to be screaming, hollering, and cops involved, but do that first. Everything else can be sorted out once the dog is out of Harm's Way.Then. get it medical care if it is still alive.I am not kidding here, steal the dog if you have to. If you call Animal Control, they're going to come out, and investigate, the son's going to claim it was an accident and they're going to walk away without doing anything. We will deal with the political and legal ramifications later…If possible, get a video phone going to record the whole thing because I sure you the Son is going to claim that you came out from nowhere, beat him up and started setting fire to the dog yourself.Do not listen to the parents claims of lawsuits or getting you arrested- make sure you have that video.Save the dog, but be aware that the parents are going to come down on you based on the son's word.I assure you, mental illness or no, the son did not become that much of a psychopathic s*** without some outside help.Second make it clear that you were going to prosecute this to the full extent of the law.Get a hold of animal control, get a hold of the DA, and remind the DA that you have video so when election year rolls around if he or she chooses not to pursue this you're going to make sure everybody knows.I have to do this constantly around here or else most of my elected politicians will limp wrist this.Get a hold of any animal rescue group that you can...Quite a few of them have attorneys working for or with them that will be willing to help you with this.I'm going to have quite a few people come down on me for advising that you break the law, but you really don't have a choice or much time. One last thing... This is important. You had better make sure that you saw what you thought you saw. Because if you are wrong, then I'm going to end up taking the side of the parents and the law enforcement. So be sure.
