Can The It Department At My College Tell I Have P2p Software Installed If I Don

Can the IT department at my college tell I have P2P software installed if I don't run it?

I have uTorrent installed on my computer as well as PeerBlock. I have never torrented anything or even opened my P2P software on my computer. I was torrenting on off-campus wifi earlier today, left PeerBlock on but closed uTorrent. When I started up the internet back on campus, I got a notice telling me to uninstall my P2P software. So, my questions are. . .

Can uTorrent keep running after I close it?
Could PeerBlock be considered P2P software because of it's association with filesharing?

And the most important question. . .

Can I keep uTorrent on my computer if I don't run it on campus? Basically, does IT know that I have it installed? Also, how do I prevent IT from picking up on the software after I've been torrenting somewhere else?

My college's Wi-Fi has blocked torrents. Is there any other way for me to download?

First, you must choose a reputable torrent site. I like ExtraTorrent which gives me pretty much the latest of everything.IF you want to download torrent files using your college wi-fi:University or Work Network blocks bittorrent protocl so utorrent becomes uselessSpeed it gives is very low so can’t be good if you are heavy torrent downloader.Your network IP is visible to the whole world and copyright protection org or ISP can easily track you.Yes , Security matters if you would like to avoid the fine imposed by ISP for downloading torrent files.Step One:Visit any torrent site and copy the magnet link of the torrent file. Right click on the magnet icon and copy it.Step Two:Now paste the magnet link on FileStreamIf you don’t have an account in this website then create new one. It’s FREE. Step Three:This website will download the torrent file to their server so that you can download the file using HTTP protocol. So you don’t need utorrent or other software. Any browser or download manager can download it.Step Four:Depending on your download speed, your download will be finished.Hey Mate, did you like this two minutes recipe to download torrent on your college wi-fi?Please upvote if helpful, this will encourage me more.

How can I access steam in my college?

You are not allowed to access stream on college wifi? Tell me the name, I will never ever consider joining that one.Coming to the point, to bypass this issue, you can use some proxy services but keep in mind, proxy decrease speed and there are chances of compromising your credentials. So be careful. You can select any well known proxy service and purchase their subscription, in this way you will be safe and will get better speed.Good luck.

Can you get caught AFTER you stopped illegally downloading?

As long as you have stopped and deleted the downloading programs you should be ok. Millions of people illegally downloaded music years ago and still do. The people the record companies sued are people who are UPLOADING songs for thousands of people to access these songs. If you didn't upload songs (sometimes you had to shut this off on whatever downloading software you used for you not to be uploading) then you are probably never going to get sued.
The only people the record companies could clearly track were UPloaders not the downloaders. AND these record companies would first send LETTERS from their lawyers to the uploaders telling them to STOP uploading songs to the internet or they would be sued.
One stupid college student a few years ago uploaded songs that were accessed by thousands of people. He was sent 2 or 3 LETTERS from lawyers telling him to immediately STOP or he would be sued. He was an idiot and did NOT stop and then was sued by the record companies.

So just stop downloading songs without paying for them and immediately delete ALL file sharing software so that no one can upload songs from your computer to their computers and you should be totally in the clear. Make sure you UNINSTALL these programs from your computer immediately or make sure the uploading option is off. Do a how to yahoo search if you can't figure out how to uninstall or shut off uploading option on the program.

I buy my songs from amazon.com, itunes, and walmart.com. Some of those sites even have a few free songs sometimes that they are promoting which are LEGAL to download if they post it for free on their websites.

Installing a program onto a flashdrive....?

People throw around the word Registry like it's essential.

Run the application's installation. Plug in your USB drive. In setup if it gives you
an option to have a 'custom' install or to 'change the install directory' then simply
click browse, or click custom. Find the path to your flash drive and work from there.
There's a few bits and pieces that may be missing because of the registry keys not
being installed onto the laptop too, but don't worry about it. If it doesn't work then
no biggie. Just keep the application on the flash drive and try to run it from there.

If I bought my PS4, can my parents take it away?

Below 16:My daughter recently asked me a question like this. She wanted to know if she bought her own tablet would I install the software that disables it at 10pm and informs me of what she installs.I told her that I had duty of care for her, this includesFoodShelterPrivacySomewhere to sleepSupport to help her growLoveThings like access to the WiFi, power sockets in the bedroom and the large bedroom rather than the tiny office are not part of that.If my daughter does not follow the rules then she does not keep access to everything else. With the tablet it would first be the case that just her tablet would not be allowed on the WiFi. If she used it after 10pm then she would lose access to the WiFi on her other devices. Then we'd move from there.16–18If you Are worried about your parents taking things away between 16 and 18 this should be a red flag. Either you are untrustworthy and you need to sort your shit out or your parents are overly controlling and you need to save up to make leaving at 18 simple.18+Move out.I do find the comments on this interesting. I would not give an under 13-year-old unrestricted access to the internet. I’d also not give one access to an entertainment device that worked all night long. I was young once (a long time ago) and I know the temptation to use it all night and not be awake enough for school would be too strong. Making sure kids are awake enough for school so that they are prepared for life is a key part of being a good parent. That means tablets (and the like) needs good controls and switching them off at the router is not good enough. Now I’m also a big believer in giving my kids choices to go their own way, but they have to accept the consequences for it. Access to my WiFi requires acceptance of my rules, like software installed on her tablet to turn the device off at 10 p.m. and web filtering & monitoring. If she does not like it, I’ve shown her how to set up a WiFi hotspot on her phone. But if she does not turn her tablet off at 10 p.m. then I’ll turn off the electric to her room to force the matter. As my children grow and show that they are mature, I’ll lower the rules until they are 16 when, assuming I’ve done a good job as a parent, they will be mature enough for me to take all the safety nets away and let them run wild.My hope is that at 16 the ‘taking the safety nets away’ and un-installing the software would be largely symbolic as all the restrictions will have been turned off anyway.

Help! Can't Connect to College Wifi with Kaspersky?!?

Here's the deal. I had to uninstall the trial versionof Norton Anti-Virus to install Kaspersky Anti-Virus. and it works just fine... at home. at home, Kaspersky works great. However my problem begins abroad, at my college.

You see, we have to "log in" to use the college's wifi. Afterwards, we have to let a program called "Blue Socket" scan our computers for p2p applications and approve our laptops for internet usage. If something's wrong, you can't use it.

For me, my problem is that Blue Socket says I don't have anti-virus software installed. It was working just fine with Norton, but it won't work with Kaspersky. Kaspersky is missing something that Norton had, and it's stopping me from using the internet at school!

Please... I'm desparate. I don't want to pay another $70 for more anti-virus software. Is there anything I can do?

If it helps, it's Kaspersky Anti-Virus 2011. I got it from Best Buy with my laptop. My OS is Windows 7.

BTW, I already asked the Geek Squad. Didn't help. Tried Googling it, didn't help. You guys are my last hope! :D
