Can The Netflix Catalogue Fill An Entire Lifetime Without Repetition

What do you think about BritBox, the BBC & ITV's competition to Netflix?

Ok answering my own question because I’m furious - we pay a licence fee for free content and ‘innovative’ art TV.Netflix provides all of the above for a fee (less than our licence fee) and I believe (I will edit) more Oscar nominations than the BBC or ITVSo Britbox will be sold to the world for about £6 a month (cheaper than Netflix) - ok it’s great that we will be creating competition and with the additional revenue I’m sure the BBC and ITV will be able to create Oscar nominating Films for us to be proud of.HoweverIf Britbox comes out next year what will the content be? Well for starters they won’t have that much original content - some subscribers paying said fee won’t allow for a $1 billion epic film.So I would imagine that about 70% - 90% of the content will be something we have seen OR already paid for through the licence fee.WHY am I now paying an additional £72 per year to watch season 1 of Luther or Downtown Abbey?Oh, I’m sure Netflix and Britbox will be swapping content on a zero fee basis so we can now watch the new Star-trek or The Expanse through Britbox because they have freely given Netflix Poldark and or The Last Kingdom. We - the UK public have paid for Poldark, The Last Kingdom and Death in Paradise through our Licence fee, yet pay Netflix £8 per month to watch it at our convenience.OK - I made a choice to buy Netflix and am not unhappy about the content, cost or convenience.BUT let’s move to year 2 or 3 of Britbox now the content is 20/30% original and they have brilliant series of ‘Who Knows’ or ‘I made this UP’ which won’t air freely soon, OR be offered to Netflix.I want to see them - so do I pay my licence fee, my Netflix fee and now my Britbox fee as well?Do I now pay for Britbox Plus because it’s rerunning Monty Python, the Original Star-Trek, The Sound of Music (which now no longer repeats annually on ITV)?I’m not stupid - Britbox IS a necessary competition for Netflix and the BBC and ITV couldn’t be better partners to set this up.BUT the sheer audacity in trying to make us (the UK) pay twice for what we have already seen/paid for and helped fund the creation of?Obviously the BBC/ITV DO think I’m stupid…

What are your hobbies?

I have very few hobbies, mostly because I have a propensity to be bored faster than you can imagine, and the attention span of a butterfly on crack.Three hobbies I’ve had for a long time now are:Reading booksI love reading books. I don’t really restrict myself to any one genre when it comes to reading. I read absolutely anything and possibly everything. I have once read the Oxford dictionary (but that’s another story for another time) for fun.DancingI’ve loved dancing ever since I was a little girl. I dance for fun at home. I also am a trained classical dancer in Bharathanatyam. In fact, dancing is probably one of the things dear to my heart.PhotographyI love taking photos, especially of the sunset. The sunset is really a beautiful thing to watch, and an even more beautiful thing to capture on a lens. What are your hobbies?Answered as part of the “Ask Me Anything” Session on 29/9/17
