Can This Ragtag Chicago Bears Defense Stop Anyone The Rest Of The Year

Funny you should ask me to answer this JD.  I was just looking at some comparative stats and found the following on the 1991 Eagles Wikipedia page (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/199..."Statistics site Football Outsiders ranks the 1991 Eagles as the greatest defensive team in their ranking's history.  Says Football Outsiders, "The 1991 Eagles completely lap the field in terms of defensive DVOA. Only the 2002 Bucs had a better pass defense, and only the 2000 Ravens had a better run defense, and the Eagles were much more balanced than either of those teams."It's crazy to imagine how few points the Eagles might have given up  if they were playing with a halfway-decent offense instead of losing  Randall Cunningham to a torn ACL in the first game of the season. The  Eagles were stuck depending on an over-the-hill Jim McMahon for 11  starts, plus Jeff Kemp for two and Brad Goebel for two. McMahon actually  wasn't half bad, with 6.9% passing DVOA, but the other two quarterbacks  were awful, especially Goebel who had no touchdowns with six  interceptions. And the running game was dreadful, with 3.1 yards per  carry as a team.Still, the Eagles were fifth in the league in points allowed, and  first in yards allowed by nearly 400 yards -- and the team that was  second in yards allowed is also on that top-ten defenses list, the 1991  New Orleans Saints. The Eagles allowed 3.9 yards per play, where no  other team allowed fewer than 4.5. As bad as their running game was,  their run defense was even better, allowing 3.0 yards per carry.  Three-fourths of the starting defensive line was All-Pro (Reggie White,  Jerome Brown, and Clyde Simmons). Linebacker Seth Joyner and cornerback  Eric Allen made the Pro Bowl as well."I don't want to point to an outside website to make my case, but they summed up pretty well why every Philadelphia fan still pines away for the Buddy era despite what a jerk he could be.  That defense single-handedly carried the team to 10-6 and almost into the playoffs.  For a little refresher on what the that defense could do against the number one ranked pass offense in the league, enjoy this YouTube clip from the infamous "House of Pain Game" from the '91 season.  As Jerome Brown famously said "They brought the house, we brought the pain."

Hakeem did the best job. An older Hakeen vs a still young Shaq was an easy win for Hakeem. Even Pat Ewing and David Robinson were good. But once those 3 players were too old (I would say maybe 98 or 99), the New Era of Shaquille was in place. Nobody could touch him. The only player remotely good enough to challenge was Tim Duncan, and even then it wasn't Tim Duncan so much so as a very loaded and deep Spurs team.  If you compare the NBA before Shaq and after Shaq, you'll see that the center position changed a lot mostly to accommodate the dominance of Shaq. Nowadays players like Kevin Durant are 7 feet tall shooting a 3 ball. That didn't happen 20 years ago because most teams had a traditional center and traditional power forward. If they didn't, they would typically go to the lottery because you simply couldn't compete.

No, that is all.

Random Hockey Questions (Read On)?

1) Nash would have seniority for 61 over Afinogenov in my opinion

2) Del Zotto if you want offense, Myers if you want defense. Both men play a very different style of game. Del Zotto has all the offensive tools to be an above average winger in the NHL if his D doesn't get better (similar to Wendel Clark and Dustin Byfuglien)

3) Myers has a great deal of potential and Chara is on the wrong side of 30. Unlike Philadelphia which was only missing that one piece, hence the Sbisa trade for Pronger, Buffalo is farther away and while trading Myers for Chara will make them better in the short run, not making that trade will make Buffalo much better in the long ruin.

4) Middle of the pack

5) It would have to be one of the deals that you said wasn't realistic. Realistically, trading Ovechkin would be akin to trading Gretzky the first time around (unthinkable). Washington would have to be in a similar situation as the 96 Kings (collateral debt) or the 01 Penguins (bankruptcy recovery) in order to move Ovechkin

6) I agree. When I was in school, studying literature included studying poems, novels, and plays - so I would think a screenplay would count as a play

7) Not true, the NHL had to pay the NBA a LOT of money to get Bettman out of his NBA contract. While Bettman was with the NBA, he increased their corporate sponsorship 361%, their TV ratings increased over 200%, and their media exposure doubled. Similar to what he has done with the NHL. Also keep in mind that the two leagues need each other to be healthy as they share a lot of buildings that would never have been built without the two leagues being able to survive (Staples Centre in LA, United Centre in Chicago, ACC in Toronto).

8) Jordan's year long suspension for gambling is well known in Chicago. Reinsdorf has been vocal about it on more than one occasion while Stern refuses to acknowledge it publicly. It was a way for Reinsdorf to keep his biggest money maker making him money while he wasn't allowed to play basketball.

Who should I start Aaron Rodgers (vs. Baltimore) or Ben Roethlisberger (vs. Oakland) in week thirteen?

first of all, i could opt to show out that Rodgers is between the ideal delusion QBs this twelve months statistically on an analogous time as being sacked greater beneficial than the different QB on an analogous time. What does that inform you? the guy is rattling close to a ought to-start up in spite of the matchup through fact he has sufficient expertise to "make it take place" so which you will possibly communicate. on the turn area, Atlanta has develop into between the worst bypass defenses interior the league ever when you consider that CB Brian Williams have been given harm in that Chicago game that ended his season (i think of they are ranked twenty seventh against the bypass). besides the incontrovertible fact that, the Eagles have been an inconsistent team at cases this twelve months. genuinely, i could evaluate Rodgers the safer %., particularly with the sport being in green Bay on Monday evening Primetime. yet you extremely can no longer bypass incorrect with the two selection; the two ought to do sufficient to win your matchup.

Hey Opey,Leave the States because of gun laws?? Why would anyone do that? You don’t like a particular set of gun laws (or any law, or taxes for that matter… did you know Texas and a few other States have no income taxes?) you can move to the next State without a passport or visa and live under a new set of laws. The culture will be different too. You see Opey, the USA isn’t a single entity. It is a collection of 50 smaller countries called States that have agreed to be part of a Federal Republic.Folks in the US identify with their States then the Union. They just aren’t nationalistic, patriotic - yes, but nationalists - no.Since there are over 50 sets of States laws (with there own Constitutions), and tons of cities too you have a choice. Then there are the Federals with the National Firearms Act , no more machine guns and cannons without a license… man what a buzz kill. Want to see a fairly recent outline of gun laws by State, go to Wikipedia.[1]There is even a map of the areas that are affected.[2]That still begs the question if this, gun violence, is a real issue or not. I mean 32,999[3] people get killed by drunk drivers and where is all of the Western World wringing their hands. Less than half that many are killed by guns, 15,080[4] and folks act like it is some wraith of God thing. Never mind the injuries. Drunk drivers injure (moderate to critical) 390,392[5]while the gunslingers wound 30,618[6] (drunk drivers only seriously hurt 1,275% more people). And no, I’m not planning to immigrate due to either issue, though I did leave California. So, I recommend you find a real issue to be concerned about. This one has been addressed in the US Constitution Bill of Rights[7], the US Supreme Court, [8] [9] Federal Laws and all the 50 States and their constitutions, laws and courts. Leave to them to solve their own problems.CiaoFootnotes[1] Gun laws in the United States by state - Wikipedia[2] Want to fix gun violence in America? Initially, they would have to make more stuff at home, which would be expensive. The price of everything goes up. Wages also go up, to keep up with inflation. The exports would dry up, all the premium stuff that America makes would lose it's market. This would result in a loss of GDP and loss of jobs. The net effect is they stop making premium stuff and start making more low end cheap stuff, which they currently import. This averages down to make the country poorer and reduces the technological advances they currently make. In the long term it means countries that are open to trade will overtake America in wealth and technology. It won't become North Korea, maybe something like Spain, it's not a disaster but it's an unnecessary downgrade.
