No they do not...just heartburn/indigestion. Immodium works pretty good though.
Can Tums help diarrhea?
I think I ate something that's not agreeing with me. I've had two bouts of diarrhea in the past few hours. We are out of Pepto Bismol. We'll be getting some tomorrow since it's 11PM right now. The only stomach medicine we have is Tums. I've already chewed on two of them and am resting right now. Can Tums help soothe diarrhea? The back said use for heartburn and "sour stomach". Not sure what "sour stomach" means...

Ok i am 40 weeks pregnant and i have been having horrible diarrhea for about 3 weeks. Nothing changed in my diet and i can't figure out why i am having diarrhea sooo bad. well monday i ran out of tums. i wasn't able to get to a pharmacy to get more until thursday well from tuesday to thursday my diarrhea cleared up. i was still going number 2 but not diarrhea. well today i have my tums back and so is my diarrhea??? could the tums be the reason?? i have just never heard of tums giving you diarrhea

I have had sulfur burps since this morning. I have had gas since last night. And I have had diarrhea since yesterday or the day before yesterday (1-2 days). So this has all basically been going on for 1-2 days, different symtoms starting at different times. I don't have pepto bismol, I only have tums. I am busy tomorrow and I am wondering if the tums will cure all my symtoms by tomorrow morning because it's apperently suppose to work instantly. I took 2 tums and I have around 10 left. I assume this was caused by me eating too much too fast yesterday or in general. I'm not sure and I'm not able Togo to the doctors because I don't have medicate until around 2 weeks from now. Will I be okay by tomorrow morning from taking tums?

actually tums won't do a thing about the diarrhea, the reason you have loose stools is because the virus that has made you feel "flu like" has wiped out your intestinal bacteria that you need to digest food normally, you can fix the problem by eating yogurt three times a day, or by takin probiotics (gotten were they sell supplements) once a day, to replace the digestive bacteria you need in your intestines.

I wouldn't count on Tums. The drugstore would have better alternatives, like pepto-bismol, or Imodium (sp?). If it's just this once, leave it be. It's your body's way of cleaning itself out. If it lasts more than a few days, consult a physician or pharmacist. In the meantime, drink lots of fluids to stay hydrated.
